  1. If anyone is curious about who led our team (and the league) in pass knockdowns ... it was Johnny Sears.

    Sears -- 10

    Korey Banks -- 10

    Eddie Russ -- 9

    Byron Parker -- 8

    Patrick Watkins -- 8

    Dee Webb -- 7

    Joe Burnett -- 7

    Keon Raymond -- 7

    Ryan Phillips -- 7

Next on the Bombers was Hefney with 5. (which was still top 15 in the league, only 4 players had 6)

    Johnny Sears is the man.

  2. suber continues to be the most underrated player in the league. Is it because he's short?

Because he doesn't create turnovers. He can't play the ball that well... Maybe somebody who knows can tell us how many knockdowns he has? Because his 1 interception that was thrown right to him is pretty underwhelming

  3. Here's a great article on Alex Hall...

    http://www.winnipegsun.com/2013/06/06/bombers-de-alex-hall-wants-to-be-cfls-sackmaster

Being the cfl's sack leader is a very good goal for him in my opinion... He had a slow start getting used to the CFL game, plus missed 4 games and still came up with nine sacks and 31 tackles. I think he's going to be super good for us... Wouldn't be at all surprised to see him with over 40 tackles and top three in sacks...

  4. This is from the June 5th Depth Chart. (Lucky I got a copy of this because there were't many of them and yesterday they were back to handing out the May 30th DC's.)

Marshall is 3rd behind Sears at nickleback and Dunn is behind Marshall.

    Thank you..

I'm also interested to know what the chart looks like for the DLine, as well as Mike.

I'm surprised McGee is in the starting slot for SAM right now TBH.

  5. I'm lovin that we got Dickenson.... He looks super intense in that picture lol. I'd be intimidated if I was a player! I beleive with our Defence and run game, if we have a solid ST's unit(which we will) I think we will be a 10-12 win team. That's if our defence is 2011 caliber again.

  6. Im most excited to see Hyde, Anderson, Davis then Harris in that order.

Id like to see both Davis and Harris stick with the club this year and get bigger and stronger for next season.

It will be interesting to see who stays on the active roster between Hyde, Anderson and Mainor.

  7. When Hef and Johnson are on top of they're game, they're pretty much the most shut down tandem in the league. I certainly hope this is the case again this season! I wont be surprised at all if they still replace Suber with Washington.... We need someone who can create turnovers in that spot, as well as shut down recievers in coverage. I think Washinton can be that guy for us.

  8. I absolutely think Hefney would have trade value. If we could get #8 overall for a majorly declining Willis, We could get at least a second rounder for Hef. Edmonton lost a lot of good DB's this year, Hamilton desperately needs them, Toronto could use one or two good ones, Montreal and Sask as well. The only teams I could see balking at us for shopping Hef would be BC and Calgary.

Not that I WANT to trade him.... I would much rather see him play like in 2011 for us. And if we WERE to trade him, I would hope it would be to edmonton or sask... I do not want to play a motivated/pissed off Hefney 3-5 times in one year.

  9. I think it could come from a couple of spots.

The one spot I'm considering strongly is Kohlert or Etienne at the second WR spot, but I don't think that's as easy as it sounds because we'd still have to have an extra import REC on the roster simply because we don't have enough backup non-import receivers. We'll probably keep Taylor Renaud around, but it's not going to be on the 42 and having ONE backup for THREE starters obviously isn't ideal. It'd be easier if DiCroce was healthy or Aprile was here.

The other spot is right tackle, but that's a ways away from happening and I think Douglas or Simmons will probably lay claim to that spot by the end of camp.

Muambas, Poblah, Watson and three OL is still a pretty good group of Canucks. I guess if we do go with seven Canadian starters, we'll likely DI a RB, a DE and a DB. Realistically, there's no need for a DI linebacker because Stephan and Labbe are capable enough and if our nickel back gets hurt, you can just stick the 6th DB there because if they're going to DI, they're obviously going to be flexible.

That's why I see it being difficult for a guy like Markett to get on the 42 man roster ... he may be a very good player, but I don't envision him as one of those flexible DB types who can play any spot on the field like a Hefney or a Sears.

Agreed, I think its possible to go with 8 this year, but I think its still unlikely. We may go with 3 canuck recievers next season though if Aprile comes back and Dicroce is healhty, also if Ali comes to camp we may be almost forced to go with 3 NI recs. I dont think Swiston is good enough to beat Douglas just yet either.

I agree that Markett will have a hard time getting on the 42. If he cant beat out one of the incumbents, he'll be on the PR IMO. I think If Sears is ready to go game 1, Marshall will be the DI. If Sears isnt ready I can see Marshall starting at SAM and Dunn winning the DI spot. Purely speculative though obviously, I dont have any constacts and I havent seen these guys against CFL level competition.

  10. I don't think it will be difficult to use a DI spot on an import RB at all.

Especially because I'm starting to think there's a strong possibility we have four DI spots this year. I can definitely see us starting eight Canadians.

Where do you see us starting our 8th guy? It will definately be easier to do so with a starting canadian LBer though..

  11. Well, it sounds like Johnson et all really showed up to play. Apparently Johnson lost fat and added lots of muscle which is good to hear. When he is on top of his game he is probably the best corner in the league. I love that he often returns his int's for TD's as well.... it really gives us an added dimension to our defence.

It will be interesting to see who all stays and goes. I can see Suber getting pushed out of a spot. He sticks on his guys like glue, but he just cant seem to play the ball well enough. If we can get a guy that can cover as well as he does, AND create turnover we'll be golden. I can see a guy like Washington winning that spot, or a new guy like Dunn/Markett.

Its still early, but guys like Dunn, Markett, and Marshall will probably be too good to cut. Its really going to put the coaches in a hard spot this year. Especially if Miles(once he returns) and Kennedy continue to impress. Theres just too many good import players to be able to keep around.

question; was the PR expanded to nine players this season? if so that should at least help a little.

  12. I think itll be hard to DI an import rb, unless they plan on having Johnson and Washington share the return duties...

I do like the idea of having a DI RB and having a run heavy offence with Fitzgerald sealing off the edge. Would be sweet having a Power I with Fitzgerald at TE and Pontbriand lead blocking for Chad/Ford. We could do a lot with that formation.

From the sounds of it though, we may not have to rely on the Run game quite as much as I thought with the way Max Hall seems to be playing. In my mind, Clement is now trying to push Goltz out the door for third string now. I think Clement would suit the wild cat offence just as well as Goltz.

  13. Im not heart broken by any means. Im still very excited to see what Hyde and Anderson bring. Guys like Dexter Davis and Freddie Harris are also intriguing... Though Harris and Davis may be better served on the PR till they can get their strength and muscle mass up.... Unless they want to end up moving Harris back to LB in the future.

  14. Im personally not going to be so focused on the QB situation. Im more interested in the D-line and the secondary. I think if we get our Defence to where it was in 2011, have a solid run game and Great ST's with the newly aquired Craig Dickenson... We can really get something good going regardless of Bucks health.

My hope is one of the guys step up to at least be adequit. I figure we can be competitive if this happens.
