  1. why is his shoe on backwards....oh my...
  2. I think it was more that he limped away...
  3. Yeah I believe it was Joey Gregorash that did the parody. It was quite the hype. I was actually amazed at the courage it took for Dieter to show his face again in Winnipeg after the trade, knowing he was walking into a stadium full of angry fans, all wanting to see him get creamed, and sing "Brock Busters" 50 times a quarter. Anyway, like I said, those were the days.
  4. Yup - it was deja vu all over again. Now where was I... oh yeah. The important thing was that I had an onion tied to my belt, which was the style at the time. You couldn't get white onions, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...
  5. You must have missed the news about the acquisition of Matt Bucknor, and the re-signing of Kowalczuk and Lucas. Right there we have the core nucleus of unparalleled NI depth. I forgive you.
  6. terrible article, but understandable given it is clear that Wiecek has no clue how the CFL and NFL operate. I miss the days when sports writers actually knew something about what they were writing about.
  7. Or we could give Edmonton back their sixth round pick we got in exchange for Merrill Johnson. Merrill Johnson for Nichols isn't a bad trade.
  8. LOL...So Hamilton was the better place to be?!!? To be honest, I hated the trade at the time,” Brock recalled. “I was trying to get back down to the States, because the USFL was starting up. http://cfl-scrapbook.no-ip.org/Brock.Dieter-Ham.php Brock just wanted to go to the US real bad, and so was hoping Winnipeg would just release him. It was a pretty disrespectful way of going about it. He finally did get to the NFL in 1985, and took the Rams all the way to the NFC finals, where they were crushed by the steam-roller that was the 1985 Chicago Bears.
  9. Well I was pretty young at the time so I'm sure some of the older guys here will correct me, but Brock was always having fits and fights with the Bombers, as he was a pretty big prima-donna. In 1983 it finally all came to a head, and he just didn't want to play for Winnipeg anymore, burning his bridge with the city by saying that the zoo was the only good thing about Winnipeg, or something to that effect. He could have easily just gone back to the US and sat there waiting for the Bombers to release him, and we would have gotten nothing for him. Instead, Harold Ballard somehow decided that Brock was better than Clements, who I believe was also giving Hamilton head-aches at the time, and so one day it was just announced that we were getting Clements for Brock. The entire city breathed a sigh of relief that the whole drama with Brock was over, and the first game he played back in Winnipeg (which I was at) in September 1984 was a huge catharsis for all of us, considering what Dieter had put us through, and how he had insulted us. Tyrone Jones ran all over Dieter that game, and every time he was sacked, the song "Ghostbusters" would play, and the entire stadium would get up and dance and yell "BROCK-BUSTERS!!" It was probably one of the best games I've ever been to. The entire stadium was rocking that day. It was a sell-out too, and the Bombers won 48-16. Ahhh...those were the days.
  10. I would be surprised that I was reaching for my Crown Royal bottle at 8:45 am, as opposed to my usual 10:30 am.
  11. So we'll be a better team with out Henoc eh?
  12. LOL - if you remember, he wasn't really "dealt", he just decided that he wanted to play in Hamilton, so Ballard "gave" us Clements in return. Dieter had just given up on Winnipeg, and really screwed himself with his zoo comment. After that no one wanted him around here. We were just lucky that Ballard gave us something in return. And something really really good.
  13. congrats! Hope he follows in the footsteps of another SFU alum Doug Brown! Is this him? http://athletics.sfu.ca/roster.aspx?rp_id=913&path=football
  14. Here's a heart-warming thought - in 2010 Drew was the third string QB behind two former Blue Bomber legends - Chase Clement and Russ Michna. Dum Dum Dum!!!! Now THAT's a pedigree....LOL http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_Las_Vegas_Locomotives_season
  15. That seems a bit of a harsh indictment to me.
  16. At some point our run of bad luck has to end. I never thought I would see a GC in Winnipeg back in the 1980's and then all of a sudden Harold Ballard gifted us Tom Clements. You never know what might fall in your lap in this league. You just have to keep trucking.
  17. at this point I'm willing to accept that we're running the Wildcat 100% of the time. They'll never see it coming!
  18. Shout out to Winnipeg at 3:10 by Hank...
  19. and the other thing - now we have to call him HENRY BURRIS
  20. This is what Ottawa did wrong last time - over paid a bunch of bums. Unbelievable.
  21. A Bomber toque and the number of the cheerleader that Burris is dating.
  22. If they are from the US they've probably never even heard of the CFL, or Canada.
  23. They could have taken someone else from Calgary other then Glenn if they had designs on Burris. I just think that Desjardins doesn't know what the hell he's doing, and that this is already looking like yet another gong show in Ottawa.
  24. You mean Korey Banks lied to me on Twitter? Doing what leaders do... championing his team. And he's absolutely a great leader for doing so. But keep in mind he had no choice in the matter... his contract was traded to Winnipeg. We've been able to offer the only starting QB job in the CFL with no competition, as well as reportedly the most money, to 2 guys we coveted. And couldn't close them. Well he could have seemed less enthusiastic about it, or said nothing. Anyway, it appears that QB's in this league don't want to come here. Let's hope we can convince Drew Willy, and once he comes, he blows away all of these prima-donnas. I am actually relieved that I don't have to pretend cheer for Burris this year now. He's back to his rightful place, that choking jack-arse that I can't stand.
