  1. Talk about damning someone with faint praise but yeah after watching the Chiefs/Patriots yesterday, that Zappe kid was pure hot garbage. I was actually thinking "why wouldn't these guys sign Rourke is this is the best they can find", and sure enough here we are. Saying that a lot when I watch the QB carousel going on right now in the NFL. Even Joe Flacco has somehow made it back into the league, never thought I'd see that.
  2. Everyone went to Bomber games with an onion on their belt, as was the style at the time. But yellow ones, not the white ones, because of the war.
  3. My opinion - the Jets are a fun team to watch, and that breeds fun in the stands. Great pin-point passing and the guys are working hard, which is all Winnipeg fans want - they are willing to spend their hard-earned wages on a ticket, but they want to see the players giving it all, and even if they don't win, that's what true hockey fans appreciate. Vilardi has some of the best hands I've seen on a guy in a long time, like KConn level hands. Where was this guy hiding? Never heard of him before. Same goes for Iafallo. Both guys seem pretty happy to be here, which is always a plus, unlike a guy like Dubois whose "I'm too good to be in Winnipeg" attitude was bringing everyone down. Looks like we've gotten rid of the whiners and the passengers, and what we are left with are the guys that want to play and give it all for the team. Dare I use the term "FIFO Culture"? I just hope we don't get Bowness wanting to play any ex-Navy Seals on the fourth line next season lol....
  4. I look at the bums that Minnesota has been playing since Cousins got injured and I just can't figure out why they wouldn't give Rourke a try. It's just maddening.
  5. We need a little "Go Jets" symbol to go with the "Go Bombers "W" in the reactions for the off season - just a suggestion.
  6. Yet another guy whose parents were Sons of Anarchy fans...

  8. I agree, the Bombers need the cap space to entice Sam Hurl and Brock Ralph out of retirement.
  9. Yeah Oakman gives me Khalif Mitchell vibes for some reason. Big guy but seems to not be the greatest team mate. Maybe I'm wrong, hope that I am.
  10. Brock Aynsley wasn't the only guy who couldn't catch Dieter's passes. I was talking to an old timer who claimed that he played for the Bombers in the 70's as a DB. I never got his name but looking up the records I think his name was Lee Benard as he said that he played with Gord Patterson at U of M as well as with the Bombers. Anyway, he said in training camp he was covering a receiver and went for the INT on one of Brock's passes and he got knocked over by the ball, it was coming so hard and fast. He said he never saw a QB who could throw like that anywhere.
  11. LOL - Brock Aynsley is living in Kelowna now. I know him quite well and see him at a lot of functions. Another guy I see around here is Fran Huck.
  12. Heh I thought you were talking about the Guess Who...my bad.

  14. Sang this a lot with my mates when I lived in Perth....
  15. Neil Young played my mom's prom at Kelvin in the early 1960's. Pretty cool stuff. I remember being at U of M at B52's (I think that's what it was called, I didn't go to U of M but I would visit my buddies when back in town) and they were pumped to see some new band called the Crash Test Dummies perform. That was like late 80's or early 90's I think? What's come out of Winnipeg since the CTD?
  16. We of course love the TH but you have to admit putting out songs like Wheat Kings about David Milgaard and "38 Years Old" about a prison break in Kingston Ontario isn't going to make many Americans run out to buy the CD (as we used to do in the 1990's)....
  17. Kind of suffered from Tragically Hip syndrome. Huge in Canada, never really broke through elsewhere, though the band creating songs like "Running back to Saskatoon" may have guaranteed it tough to break out of Canada...like the Hip singing about Bobcaygeon and having lyrics like "Jacques Cartier, right this...way"....lol...
  18. whatever he did, all I could say is it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy...lol...er I meant "bigger ******-bag".
  19. Comrie? Lol or Jamie Reimer. Pretty slim picking. And Cale Makar too. Who would Nylander from T.O. play for?
  20. On that first goal, not sure what Samberg was thinking putting a soft pass right up the slot. I thought we coached our D men to NEVER do that, unless you have a guy who is VERY open. We just handed them that opening goal, but tightened up after that, good to see Vilardi with the magic hands setting up that Scheif goal.
  21. Sure wasn't me. The only thing I could think was that now with Wheeler gone and the dressing room issues seemingly dealt with perhaps Patrik would want to come back here? Who knows. With the way he's playing I don't even want him here right now. He's got to get his head on right. Or just go back to Finland and go win a few World Championships with Poolparty. What a waste.
