  1. I am trying to remember a year that I wasn't worried about the future of the CFL...
  2. Seems to be a pretty loose team that definitely focused on taking care of business. From that video, and I'm not sure why I didn't think of it before, you can see how good our O-Line has to be practicing against the two Jeffs all the time. Imagine those two guys are the guys you have to constantly have coming at you day in and day out. Either you get really good at your job, or you wash out pretty quick. I can't imagine two better guys to have in practice to keep our O-Line on their toes and prepped for the much weaker D lines they have to face in actual games.
  3. Sorry switched over to football in the intermission. What did she say?
  4. Given Nash is our MVP perhaps this is a cautionary move to protect him from COVID? Lol...
  5. The Fajardo doink off the goal posts?? I asked someone to make it into a gif and now I can't freaking find it arghhhhhh
  6. I remember they used to do Tae Kwan Do shows at half time in the 80's. These guys in full on robes kicking their way all the way across the field. I remember one game against BC it was pouring rain and those guys still went out there and kicked their hearts out. I remember I had mad respect for that.
  7. All right, I'm going to keep dumping random thoughts into this thread. As long as I've been alive, or can remember anyway, Bob Irving has been calling the Bomber games on CJOB. That's a very long freaking time. I decided to look into Bob on Wikipedia and I found this: Bob Irving (sportscaster) From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Bob "Knuckles" Irving, OM (born 1950) is a Canadian sportscaster and the radio play-by-play voice for the Canadian Football League's Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He is also the former sports director for CJOB radio in Manitoba and a member of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame.[1] A native of Regina, Saskatchewan, Is Bob Irving the Manchurian Candidate, sent here by Regina to infiltrate us and eventually cause our downfall? I realize that he's been here for 51 years, but you never know when he might be activated by his handlers. Yes, this is what a bye-week has reduced me to....lol...
  8. I was thinking the same thing. You want to add a half hour to the pre-game on Sportsnet? Ask the Toronto-biased media covering the game to name 5 players on the Jets, including their FIRST names (so no, you can't call him "Mark Wheeler"). That should buy all the time that you need.
  9. It's weird not having a Bomber beat-down to look forward to this weekend, but I'm trying to find ways to pass the time until next Saturday. I had a listen to this interview with Brent Butt which was mildly entertaining... I have to admit though, when the interviewer said "we've all seen Saskatchewan win plenty of Grey Cups" I had to spit out my coffee laughing. Really? Four cups in 111 years is "plenty"?? LOL LOL LOL So that got me thinking - do most Rider fans even know how futile their franchise is, or do they think that there is some winning legacy that doesn't exist? This is just bye-week banter. Believe me most weeks I have much better things to do than contemplate such mundane thoughts.
  10. or a team whose bones they haven't picked their teeth with (yet)...lol...
  11. It didn't happen right away, but yes, switching back to the old traditional winning colours was definitely a step in the right direction. I remember thinking "finally" when they announced the switch back to the old colours. It just felt that we had been wandering in the wilderness for all those years, and had finally found the track to get out again to relive the days of yore.
  12. And if the Riders lose the WSF - "Why losing the WSF is a "blessing in disguise"....article we'll see on Monday.
  13. We needed a QB. For a short time there in 2014 it looked like we had found our guy in Drew Willy, and then we went back to wandering around in the wilderness. Matt Nichols did as much as anybody to save the Canadian Mafia and give them someone to build a team around. Let's face it, when those three guys took over it was basically scorched earth, and going right back to square one, with almost zero Canadians worth putting in the line up. And as well, a pretty toxic culture, that can't be changed over night. FIFO requires buy in from everyone, and the right guys in the locker room to buy into it. Anyway, I had my doubts along the way as well, especially in those first few years when I could see O'Shea was in a bit over his head and doing the Tim Burke thousand yard stare while the whole stadium was screaming for him to throw a challenge flag etc. But we're past all of that now. And thank goodness for that!
  14. Torn between conflicting Jets and Bombers games, Winnipeg sports fan petitions to get times changed | CBC News What do you know it worked!
  15. Marcel Bellfool? LOL...
  16. hey that's cranially and personality-challenged to you....
  17. I think I was three sheets to the wind by half time and so don't remember much, just being disgusted with the score and hoping one day we would have our revenge. And yes, those are incredibly ugly uniforms. Not sure what people were thinking back then...
  18. That Greta Thunberg Arena they play in sure is pretty!
  19. hey man I wouldn't have done it if it wasn't a bye week. Good motivation for us to keep punishing teams and kicking ass!
