They had to stop selling beer in cans in Saskatchewan after some unruly fans started hucking full beer cans at the Lions bench. I am thinking that happened around 2008 or so? Looked it up, yup... Roughriders put lid on beer can sales CBC News · Posted: Oct 02, 2008 10:22 AM CT | Last Updated: October 2, 2008 A beer-throwing incident has prompted the Saskatchewan Roughriders to halt the sale of beer in cans. The decision, which will be effective at the next home game Friday night, was made after angry fans hurled beer cans at the B.C. Lions during a game two weeks ago. The shower of aluminum briefly led to Lions' players and coaches finding refuge on the playing field as opposed to their traditional sideline space. Fans were reacting to what they believed to be a bad decision by the referee. According to the team, 47 fans were ejected from the game for the unwelcome display of disaffection. Team officials announced on Wednesday that the sale of beer in cans has been eliminated for fans in the east side stands of Mosaic Stadium, the home of the Roughriders. Instead, Jim Hopson, president and CEO of the club, told reporters suds will now be served in plastic cups. Roughriders put lid on beer can sales | CBC News

FIFY I had a flashback to the 1984 GC and Tyrone Jones stripping the ball from Brock and then Stan Mikawos rumbling down the field for a TD after scooping up the fumble. Wouldn't it be cool if history would repeat itself and Jake Fatboi Thomas takes one to the house after Dane "deer in headlights" Evans gets stripped by one of the Jeffs....I would love to see that. Watching old Jake just givin' er down the field with Needy Banks just bouncing off of him...lol... -

I have no real hate for any current CFL refs. The guy that I couldn't stand was Murray Clark, and he was demoted. He blew so many calls against us and they always seemed to go in favour of the Alouettes. Andre Proulx survived an on field heart attack and came back to keep reffing. That's a true Canadian! -

I'd feel like a total "turd" if I didn't give Andre a thumbs up. The CFL needs more good guys like him! 👍 (20+) Watch | Facebook -

oh ok. Not sure what "straight fire" means but I get the cameo thing now. I've heard of Cameo because I listen to Howard Stern but I didn't know that the Ti-Cats paid Ice Cube to give them a shout out. That's pretty sad. -

IIRC the knock at Neufeld at the time was that he got injured a lot and so wasn't worth the draft pick. I guess that didn't age very well... -

I'm thinking just players that have to travel, but don't quote me on that. -

I'd be hopping in my car and driving to Hamilton. Of course, the point is moot given I'm vaccinated, and I honestly don't understand what goes through the mind of someone who doesn't want to get vaccinated, so there's that too. -

when you watch last year's WF and this year's WF you realize that these kinds of games come down to two or three plays that make all the difference. A missed FG in this game coupled with a big return, Hansen's goal-line stop of Powell in 2019's WF. Those plays turn games around, and they come from truly extraordinary effort at key moments. -

lol good point If you think about it though, those three points would have been huge for the Riders. They would have been playing for the FG to win the game rather than needing a TD. And if Grant hadn't brought the ball out, they would have been playing for a tie. But it's not just about that - that return by Grant energized the Bombers which is what they needed. You could feel the whole game change, as the Bombers realized that things were starting to finally go their way after so much nonsense. They just took control after that and the Riders didn't have a chance. -

Ask yourself - would any of those three Ti-Cats be able to crack the Bombers defensive roster? Santos-Knox played here a few years ago IIRC, but he wouldn't cut it in this line up now. And that ****** Lawrence wouldn't last five minutes in the Bomber locker room, he'd be FIFO'd right out the door. -

it goes with what a lot of sports pundits have saying all season - the Bombers don't have to be perfect to win, but those hoping to win against the Bombers have to be darn near perfect to beat them. When you are playing the Bombers, you can't miss 36 yard field goals. You need every point to count. -

After having re-watched the second half last night, I'd like to give a star to the Rider kicker Brett Lauther for missing that easy 36 yard field goal, that Grant ended up almost taking back to the house. Also - a star to Janarion for taking that ball out of the end zone and denying the Riders that single point which would play a huge role later. That easy miss and big return definitely turned the momentum of the game around and also denied the Riders three points at a critical juncture of the game. Huge TSN turning point in my view. Thank you Brett for choking! -

We didn't have Andrew Harris in the regular season against Hamilsmell. Although Brady had a great game, so not sure how much more Harris would have done. In the playoffs though, having a healthy and motivated Andrew Harris in the lineup is huge. Also - Janarion Grant was hurt pretty early in that game too and we had Nelson handling most of the returns after that. What a difference Grant makes. Always a threat to break one for a score.
