The deep ball isn't Nichols strong suit. Never has been. One of the big reasons that Edmonton traded him was that he couldn't run their deep ball offense.

1. Bighill - Best pickup of the offseason by far. 2. Harris - Pounded and spun his way to another big game. 3. Demski - Returned and caught a big TD deep. Happy Honker - Peterman. Just a couple of catches, but he made the most of them.

The big difference in the second half offense for Edmonton is that they didn't try to establish the run at all. Kept going for the big bomb when what they needed to do was just get some first downs to rest their D. Didn't get their first 1st down in the second half until the 4th quarter. Edmonton still almost pulled off the win. Might have been a different result if the receiver hadn't tripped on the last end zone ball. Fun game all round. FTR: Lulay was right. He had to throw the ball away so he didn't take a sack.

We should beat the Ticats. They are below us in the standings for a reason. If we don't, then their will be some uncomfortable questions being asked.

How good an indicator are the first 7 games when 5 of them are against the bottom 3 teams (BC,Toronto,Montreal)?. I'll restate... Do we look good because we are playing bad teams or do they look like bad teams because they are playing us.

That's the 'argument' everyone likes to trot out when their is a chicken and egg argument. Of course we can only play the teams that are on our schedule. That doesn't change the question of if it's playing bad offenses with backup QB's that's making us look good or our defense making them look bad.

Chicken or egg? Are our stats improving because we are playing less talented teams or are the less talented teams the reason our stats are improving? We'll get a good chance to see this week when we play a team that dominated our defense earlier in the season.
