  1. I recall a younger Damon Allen also taking off after his first or second read. The 'savvy vet' version of Allen played more along the lines of what you describe
  2. I think that's a good comparison. Teams put the right pieces around Damon Allen, and won championships with him - even at 42 or whatever it was. No one asks how you won a championship (unless you're the 2007 Riders).
  3. The Argos generally have a pretty decent OL. It'll be interesting to see how MBT fares elsewhere.
  4. Agreed. Shots that are mostly low percentage chances...help the goalie stay sharp.
  5. My point is, they had the option. I doubt they could have done it without Harris at tailback. Bond was real brawler in there.
  6. Travis Bond - we had 3 Americans on OL when he was starting. IIRC, it was for 1.5 - 2 seasons. Of course don't 'need' a Canadian back, but it has served us rather well.
  7. Well, I like that fact that Canadian RBs have allowed the Bombers to start Americans at Offensive Tackle and even at Guard - that has been a real strength of the team.
  8. It's a fairly recent change, when the newest CBA bumped the minimum to 70k they made the minimum apply to all players regardless of Nationality "The CFL minimum salary will increase to $70,000 in 2023 and $75,000 in 2027. That minimum will apply to players regardless of roster designation — National, American and Global. Global players were previously limited to contracts of $54,000, lower than the league minimum."
  9. It has not been a given that a big physical team wins the cup.
  10. If I'm Brown, I'm also looking at what a team is doing with their OL There were some pretty bad offensive lines in the league this season
  11. Absolutely. Will never forget his stellar pass defense in the 2021 GC. I don't think we win without him.
  12. Burger with 2 sides and a drink - 20 and change. Not bad at all.
  13. A very underrated restaraunt - Chicken Chef
  14. Lol. Ok, do you actually like any restaurants?
  15. He was a solid threat as a passer. It doesn't matter how good the running attack is. If a D can key on it, it's game over.
  16. At any other position, you would probably take the risk, but not at QB. Actually, probably not at left tackle either.
  17. Right. Point is, it's not a given that moving from ZC is the right move.
  18. Just one last thing: Back in 2009, they couldn't see themselves competing / contending...with Kevin Glenn...
  19. If he does or he doesn't, I can understand why the powers that be are not going to roll the dice. ZC is their safest bet.
  20. It appears fairly certain (baring injury) that Collaros will be playing in Winnipeg until his contract is up. Given this team's history at the QB position, I don't see how anyone can be firmly on side with letting him go. I mean, you've probably got an eye on the future, and that's fine. But it's pretty safe to say that the Bombers are focused on winning a GC at home, in 2025. ZC gives them the best chance to do that. He's had some bad games, some of which were unfortunately Grey Cups. But that's going to happen no matter who you have behind centre. I think we have the talent on the OL - to get back to kind of protection he was getting when he first came to Winnipeg. The brain thrust needs to start the players who can make that happen. If you're in the position of several other teams around the league, then you absolutely go with a guy like Brown. In Winnipeg, you play the safe card and go with the experienced vet.
