The D is middle of the pack in most statistical categories, at or near the top in others, bottom feeders in some. They are first in field goals allowed (4). Fifth in touch downs allowed (11). First against the pass, last against the run. A surprising second place in average yards given up per play (7.12). Total defensive plays is middle of the pack (173). All this is after 4 weeks, last night's game is not included

The Bombers were able to shut down the Cats running game after BLM went out. The Cats were not able to do the same to the Bombers'. It was obvious that the Bombers would lean heavily on BO, but the Cats still had no answers for it.

The D is pretty much full marks for this win. Holding any CFL opponent to 13 points, is solid. No sense playing the 'what if BLM' game either...both teams lost their starter. Throwing 3 yard passes takes practice. He needed to study how they draw those up.

I coach / ref soccer. If you coach kids to defend properly, there won't be a ton of goals scored.

Defensive performance was actually a wash in that game. Bombers gave up 121 rushing, 267 passing. Elks gave up 106 rushing, 290 passing Elks generated far more pressure and were rewarded for it with turnovers - that was the difference in the game Based on where the O turned the ball over, this should've been a blow out. The D has to get some credit for that The greatest area of concern vs. the Elks was the offensive line, and it's not even close.

Yes. But context matters. Multiple turnovers by the O. Look at how defenses are currently performing around the league.

Giving up 17 points in the first half, in a CFL game where the O coughed up the ball multiple times, if not a bad outing by a defense. And then holding them to 6 in the second half.

The Edmonton loss is mostly on the O. You can't expect to win with terrible OL play and consequently that many turnovers.
