Round 2 - Game 6: Predators at Jets
Mark H. replied to TrueBlue4ever's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Which stats are those? They generated less than half a dozen good scoring chances, Nashville D were usually allowed to take their sweet time in their own zone, and when a Jet did fore-check, they arrived too late to make an impact. They are the best fore-checking team I've seen in years, but they didn't show up for game 6, game 4, and the first period of game 5. "There are lies, damn lies, and statistics." -

Different defenders have been guilty of just drifting back to the goalie instead of attacking the puck carrier, as well as getting caught on a pinch. -

Kulikov could be a huge addition - sounds like several D are playing hurt -
Given who we have at 1 & 2, the QB position is pretty much set. I’m not particularly excited about that position battle.

My take: There is no point in hammering pucks into the corner if the wingers aren't going to go after them hard. This is a good fore-checking team - now that they really need to do it, it doesn't seem to be there. When they took over game 5, they literally had their way with Subban and the other D behind the net and along the boards. What happened to that in game 6? In my opinion, Rinne wasn't great in game 6, but he didn't have to be. The Jets did not have very many good scoring chances. -

It must be frustrating to make three saves in row, then lie flopped on the ice with a Buff rocket whizzing over your head. -

Don Cherry was bang on during the first intermission of game 5 - the Jets need to play their speed game right from the start. They were dumping the puck in and letting the Nashville D take their sweet time going back to get it. They cranked up the speed and even Subban looked ordinary - he got beat on several of the Jets' goals. Fun Fact addition: Patrik Laine is scoring again. -
I think Heath not being back next year is being overrated on these boards. The #1 problem was an MLB who played like a DL, a Safety who played in the box most of the time, and then a gap created at the traditional safety position. Get Loffler out of the box and wreaking more havoc with receivers - suddenly the entire backfield is looking better.

They need to skate in harder on dump ins. Only the Wheeler line is doing it. -
More facts - to ruin a perfectly good argument and trample all over peoples’ cherished beliefs ?

Any Canadian OL in that data base?

He was in the box for the go ahead goal - justice -

Bad plays happen in OT - they almost have to. IMO the Preds barely achieved a split at home and now they have to come back to Winnipeg. -
Were you alive when Hasek carried the Sabres to the final?

History may fatigue you - but it doesn’t change.

Considering the context - the 'no' is somewhat appropriate.

I think Dyakowski would be worth considering. Lots of bodies on OL, but as many if not more question marks?? The question of how well they will perform with Bond missing from what was a lockdown left side remains to seen. But all things considered, they really couldn't afford to start an American at guard again.

Loffler didn't play that way in the 2016. In 2017 he played more in the box because of who was starting at MLB.

Not mention his famous rebounds...

Essensa and coaches seemed to be a recurring theme - remember when Paddock tried to make him stop playing butterfly style?

The GST impact was significant but not as significant as people believe. At the time it was implemented, Mulroney cut a 13.5% manufacturers tax. Many Manufacturers are eligible for GST rebates.

Feel free to resume the political discussion over in the Canadian politics thread.

Other than repeating ad nauseum that you hoped Ambrosie would deal with it, that he should step in and that it shouldn't be happening - nope, you didn't say much of anything.
