I don't think it's Drew Willy so much as the circumstances he's being forced to operate under. As I said on Twitter during the game, the playcalling needing variety. In nearly every single one of our two and outs, we went either pass-pass or run-run and the offensive sets we used to do it were very telling as far as what we were going to do. If I can spot tendencies accurately, don't you think a defensive coordinator can? Once we went with a variety of calls and sets, we got the Montreal D on their heels and Willy had the time to stretch the field and operate how he likes to. Variety opens up the run game opens up the passing game. What I really like about Willy - when he's not on fire, he is able to recognize it and step into more of a game manager role. He doesn't compound his mistakes.

Not that I really want to indulge you based on your first few posts, but since I have some time to kill ... First, re: Carter - what does talent have to do with experience? The Riders didn't have solely 4th tier receivers last year. They had an elite receiver and an elite running back, both taking pressure off guys like Getzlaf and Taj Smith. Above average receivers often end up looking like absolute studs when they're having attention drawn away from them.

Interesting opinion. I'd say that you're highly overrating Manny, Fuller & Taylor. Even Carter hasn't performed like a tier one receiver this year and IMO that's not just because they don't have a QB. I wouldn't say I'm overrating Manny at all. He probably attacks the ball as a receiver better than anybody in the league and he's still managing to stay among the league leaders in yardage despite the fact that he's being matched up against by the DB1 in most games. Fuller and Taylor are just complete receivers and while their track records aren't there, the talent level is. They fight for balls, they battle through contact and are an absolute handful to tackle in the open field. Good hands, good blocking skills. Duron Carter is an absolute animal and in my opinion, he's the most talented receiver in the league. This will probably be his last year in the CFL. Reminds me a lot of Arceneaux before Arceneaux went to the NFL. If he had Ricky Ray throwing him the ball, he'd likely average over 100 yards a game. Too bad he has the Montreal circus instead.

I'm not going to try and rank them in order, I'd rather try and provide tiers. Tier 1 Stamps, SJ Green, Carter, Arceneaux, Owens Tier 2 Moore, Price, Fuller Tier 3 Taylor, Bowman, McDaniel, Denmark Then you get into the next tier Getzlaf, Durie, Grant, Ellingson, Smith, Fantuz, West If Dressler, Inman and Matthews came back, I'd probably put them in tier 1, 2 and 3 respectively. You can make an argument for Taj as a top 15 receiver, but I wouldn't say it's a compelling one.

You got half of that. SJ Green is among the top 5 receivers currently in the CFL when he has a QB who can throw him the ball. Taj Smith is maybe in the top 15.

Alex Brink drops back to pass and

Just curious.. what DL does fit our system... Pall at 5'11 260lbs doesn't... Laurent 6'1 305lbs doesnt Its a genuine question - the only DL that I have seen in pursuit as a 'hybrid DL/LB' per se is Peach... everyone else looks like they are playing traditional DL roles By the sounds of it, Zach Anderson doesn't even fit our system...? Why are you assuming that fit is based on the size of the player. It's based on the responsibilities and whether or not a player can excel with specific responsibilities.

Not allowed to wear a jersey, don't own a golf shirt.

Probably still doesn't make it, imo

TSN 1290 was talking about it earlier in the week.

Value picks are good if you get actual value out of them.

Disappointed Cotton isn't starting, thought a lot of reports were indicating he would.

Okay. So you think there's no point. And plenty of others do. What's the point in arguing about it? We get your point.

I think it's about time to see how far another petition may go for the royal blues.

Nobody is perfect but Mark Cohon is an awesome commissioner and will be sorely missed.

That is SO nice.

I wouldn't wear it if it was given to me as a gift.

Go home Reebok, you're drunk.

That's very contrary (more or less the exact opposite) to what I heard from a couple different people.

UGH.

I love Johnny Football.

You're right, let's trade for Eric Taylor.

I'm intrigued.

Paris Jackson is just one of those guys where aside from his health, I don't wish him any well whatsoever. So this is A-OK with me.

Yeah, we're looking at an online draft. Ideally the 28th if that's suitable for everybody but I think that's TBD based on the schedules of everybody involved.
