Keith is described as big (6'4") and 321lb, but slow and struggled in run blocking at left guard.
Lua was not scheduled to graduate until 2025- 6'0" and 190. A probable project.
Keith Khalil SCOUTING REPORT: STRENGTHS
- Outstanding on reach blocks, showing good initial quickness and flexibility to seal the backside. He’s a heady player who is quick to recognize and react to twists and stunts up front, and Keith shows a good sense of timing on combo blocks.
- Dips shoulder and moves his feet to get outside leverage when needed. Strong and low coming out of his stance, effective in short-yardage situations.
- Fires off the snap quickly, and he shows the flexibility to get out and seal on reach blocks. He’s at his best, however, in the phone booth.
- In the run game, he plays with a mean streak and does a nice job generating a push at the initial point of attack. Keith can get outside and does a decent job landing blocks in space.
- Coordinated when moving to the second level as a run blocker, capable of landing blocks on the move.
- Fires out of his stance with a good pad level, consistently winning at the point of attack.
SCOUTING REPORT: WEAKNESSES- Tends to slip off blocks when going against bigger linemen, and Keith too often finishes plays on the ground.
- Drops his head too often on contact, which causes problems against swim moves.
- He's athletic and a pure left tackle whose high-hipped frame and waist bending might be exposed against pro rushers

Those RBs Herzog and Michael Chris-Ike will probably BOTH go in the top 3 rounds after those results. It seems like teams are valuing national backs more over the past few seasons
Daniel Adeboboye and Brady were both second rounders and they might have been better RB prospects (i really do not know) but they both had worse numbers
Brady wasn't as fast but he was a lot stronger. 29 reps vs 16 for Chris-Ike (Herzog was dnp), but I think your right, I would think Chris-Ike at least would go in the 2nd round. I would think we'd even be interested vs taking a fullback (neither Hladik or Oulette impressed speed or strength wise)

As Walters said, who we pick will have to beat out someone on our existing roster, our first round will likely be Oline after that it will likely be who can improve our roster the most. At our second pick. it will depend whose available on the dline that better than Bennet or Smeckle. Or if we go reciever whose better than Murphy.

John Hodge has an intellect as sharp as mashed potatoes, the wit of a damp sponge, and the charm of a startled hedgehog
I appreciate 3DN for its insights into the CFL within an increasingly limited media landscape, but John's contributions lack the polish and professional tone of a legitimate sports journalist. His writing makes my own overly verbose internet forum musings look like Tolstoy.
At least Hodge seems to put the work in, he seems to be on top of a lot of Bomber related news, I don't always agree with his takes, and this mock draft is an example but the negative view is out of line
Although when he collaborates with Abbot its not pretty

The Hodge mock draft seems decent but I think it's missing the mark with the Bombers.
Here's what I think are the Canadian draft needs:
WR - I've got to imagine they'll bring in a WR to compete with Jeremy Murphy early in the draft for a dress roster spot
FB - This one is obvious. We dont have one
iOL - I think the iOL is going to be set but the team needs to add someone to sit on practice roster this year and develop
LB - Jesse Briggs retired. Shayne Gauthier probably doesn't have much more in the tank. Need a guy who can be a core ST stud and develop into a rotational player at the least
LS - Mike Benson is going to be 37? Would be good to find someone who can be the LS of the future.
I would hope the Bombers go WR/iOL/LB in some order with the three top 20 picks and go from there
first off I'm not sure about Hodges order = I don't see a wr being drafted #1 by any team. If Edm wants him they would trade down, Secondly Sask has to go with an OL pick. There main need has been and continues to be olinemen. And there are decent choices here so its not a case of taking the best talent available..
I would see us going OL, DL, FB, WR

Dublanco showing up at the combine...Should be an iteresting watch...This guy will go early in the draft....we may not get a shot unless we can swing a deal....Walters will be on it depending on what he sees from this guy
the more top end names added the better, increases our chances of getting a good ol prospect. Ly by the time we got to pick potential starting players were already gone.

Oh so you’re one of those guys who thinks the only thing that matters on special teams is who makes the tackle. You know not every position on a cover team is “guy whose primary job is make every tackle”, right? You know there are no tackles to be made on plays where our guys are helping block for OUR returner, right?
Just responding to the players that were named in terms of their contribution
Everyone has a role, but if you point at exume and clements being gone means we are going to be bad,, back it up. Of importance also is that we are replacing st coach to address some of those shortfalls

Ford is raw as a teams guy mostly returning kicks in college and won’t out do exume who got drafted based on teams ability alone and has been doing it at a high level for 4 seasons. Hallett wasn’t our best teams guy at any point in his time here. Clements cut his teeth in this league as a strong teams guy.
We spent the last 3 drafts picking teams guys with little to show for it.Need to look at the stats before making comments,, Hallet led team in st tackles. ly, clements had 6 ,and only 4 the previous yr. Ford In his rookie season had 10 st tackles.
Exume is good but was also cut by mtrl midseason

The last 3 drafts haven't been particularly stellar for any teams. We are losing way too much of our top end draft talent to the NFL now.agreed ,looks like 5-7 prospects will end ip in nfl camps ty

And we lost all of the key ones who did. Who is our Briggs? Or Miller? Or Exume?
We’ve got a few good ones like Cadwallader and I think Jake Kelly and both Halletts offer a lot too but our ST depth is super thin too right now as far as being proven
Briggs was declining last year , Miller didn't play, Ford will outdo Exume, Hallet is our best and is still here, Cole will see more action and as you said Caldwallader and Kelly are improving (Caldwallader outplayed Briggs). We will also be replacing Clements who wasn't very good at st. We've also changed our st coach. I think you're being way too negative.
We will also be adding in the draft a few players that are being utilized specifically for st .

below are the
Projected Cdns as of this date
Starters: Olivera Demski Neufeld Kolankowski Eli Wolitarski Lawton
primary backups: Kramdl Hallet Augustine Dobson Thomas Ford Gautier Murphy Bennet
special teams Caldwader. Benson, Kelly
above account for 19 of 21 starters, 2 of which Jones and Kramdl may also become starters if needed
on the bubble: Smeckle, Beeksma, Charboneau Hallet, Macdougall
Of the 19 starters I would say we could use upgrades on Bennet, and Thomas, With 10 draft picks we are in decent shape

we dont take advantage of starting that extra Canadian either...another point to consider...if you are going to start extra, then roster appropriate guys to really make it worth the while...we don't
Curious as to the Jones character is tho...hopefully he's a stud, but have no clue who you are referencing......
sorry that should have been Ford. But I do agree that last year our back up import talent wasn't utilized properly or we lacked depth.
ie. when grant went down we had to experiment with several players none of whom were adequate, and utilizing Jackson as an import was a waste. If they are looking to fox to be good enough to reolace walker why wasn't he given more opportunity. Same could be said for Haba,
Our top 10 canadians are the best in the league but it does get thin in the bottom 4 or 5. Hopefully with 10 draft picks this year and the return of ford it will be better. I also think they like the developement of Charboneau after he went back to school ly

I don`t. I was responding to a poster who does. Thanks for chiming in.
Using the nationalized rule, doesnt mean you have more americans on the starting roster it only means you can play them for a limited amt of snaps in place of cdn. Your cdn backups remain the same. The third cdn safety isnt taking starter reps regardless.

cause dome arte boot lickers...so to ay....and no offence btw...I like OSH as well but he has a few big flaws....and if corrected...just iagine the juggernaut we would have...and we likely be going for 5 straight cup wins
do u not understand the usage??...you could use either...or as a national if someone went down with injury, anbd use an import to replace the actual injured....or if you added say a Cole for Kramdi for a certain scheme/set...U dont have to pull an import off say at end...or Dtackle to compensate....for example replace a Walker/Fox with a slug like Schmeckle or a severly declining Thomas....or a WJ/JJ/Haba...whomever your starter is with a useless Bennett...thats how it benefits....u can slice and dice it ans lick boot bottoms all you want, but utilizing the rules(s) only benefit the team as a whole over all...If you don't actually see that then I truly question your intelligence
I think you dont ger what i ams aying, if you are starting 8 cdns, and you want to replace thomas ir lawfon with an american, you can. As you still have the required ratio..If your questioning how the coaches evaluate talent, thats a question unrelated to rule.
With Jones returning he too might be able to beat out an american rookie giving more flexibility. Sure for emergency it might be benificial, but for the teams utilizing it regularly it hampers developement of the cdns Can you give examples of teams using it that gave them a competitive advantage?
Strange that you go directly to insults rather than backing up you comments.

Highly doubt that was the reason for it...was just a result from it.....Osh I know for a fact doesn't like the rule...and fought to not have it passed....but lost on that hill....so he chooses to not use it....thats sure showing them thjo...yup....my take is suck it up Buttercup and put on yhour big boy pants
An extra pick in the draft is not a garuantee for anything...and based on how we pick save for our top 1..2 picks...big whoopity do...I look at other teams picks after the slugs we grabbed cause their ST tape "jumped" off the screen and just shake my head...especially seeing how abysmal our cover team have become...and it was already a ***** festering wound already starting in 2022
for Osh to utilize the nationalized rule assumes you have Americans that are better players than the Canadians they are replacing. Considering that we utilized 8 canadians many times is an indicator that many are underestimating the Canadian talent that is available now .
If we wanted to play an american at one of the Canadian starter positions, we could have done so regardless of the rule

If that were really true he would have sat out the Grey cup knowing he was not able to play to the level needed.
either that or he truly believed he could help the team by being out there even if he wasn't 100%. If Hall felt it would be better to have someone else play mlb that's Hall's call. Its not like we had a comparable player on the practice roster we could have inserted.
Bighill wasn't being selfish and to say that he's not team first to me is an insult to the leadership he has always displayed to this team. (anyone in the league will tell you he's one of the best leaders in the cfl)

Bighill has been nothing but class, since he joined the blue, his criticism of the communication process was made as a player and a pleyer rep. But even he stated that Walters was in a difficult position due to the lack of clarity with Olivera and Schoen.
Bighill has always been a team first player, and I personally believe that he and Jefferson are the best defensive players to wear the bomber jersey.

Ottawa doesnt have a national receiver on their roster that caught more than 1 pass ly, do you think they will pass on Mital and/or Mardner?
Duncan-Busby is the next best but there is a noticable drop off (Hodge has him 15 , Ferguson 17 pick) Ferguson doesn't have Ottawa picking a receiver in any of their 2 picks
Your point 2 where Ferguson doubts his own ranking also indicated why his draft is less than stellar
As far as Straker goes i may have understated his value, although as an armchair gm, Deblanco seems a better pick
