  1. There’s no quick fix, but every franchise needs to start building new fan bases if they want the league to survive. 1. Marketing the party atmosphere like Winnipeg and Sask have. This might be tougher for Toronto and Montreal, BC has had varying success. Every team should have their own version of our Rum Hut dynamic. The games need to come across like they’re more fun than watching at home. Let Montreal have their horns. Market the old Arrrgoooos chant hard. More themed games. The Stampede Bowl thing in Calgary did really well. Have more fixed scheduled games every year. Toronto and Ottawa rivalry needs to be built more, they could have “The Capitol Clash” on thanksgiving or something every year. Aside from Argos/Ticats, there’s no real rivalries out east like we have on the prairies. 2. Build the fanbase from the ground up. Investing in amateur football at all levels is paramount. Get players and mascots to do elementary school appearances, start kids CFL flag leagues. Anything to get younger fans growing up loving the game. Run promotions where kids tickets are free/discounted. Get merch out to schools to run “Win a jersey” contests. Work with newcomers associations and community groups to provide merch/promo tickets/whatever. Lower the bloody ticket prices in certain sections. How many of us grew up going to games in the Safeway Endzone or whatever it was called before that? There’s nothing like that here anymore, I’m not sure about the rest of the cities. We probably lost an entire generation or more of fans. The league needs a new younger fanbase, and imo the way to build that is to make the league/players accessible, and going to games affordable. It’s the only thing the CFL can offer from a marketing perspective that the NFL can’t.
  2. Did they specify if the change would apply inside 3:00 as well? If it does that’s monumentally stupid. The clock stopping after the 3min warning is one of the best features of our league.
  3. Yeah the single point is the reward for getting into scoring range
  4. Does anyone else see that Streveler is not recovered from injury? His throwing has always been a little different looking, but this year it seems to me he’s for whatever reason not putting anything from the core or legs into throws, it’s all arm and shoulder. He doesn’t run with the same power as before either and his lateral movement is nonexistent.
  5. How was the stadium experience for that one? Btw congrats on your first road win. I’m 0-3 myself.
  6. Edmonton was lucky to come away with 3 there. Fajardo threw a duck to the endzone on 2nd down that should have been picked.
  7. That one’s up there too, as is the 2021 west final, but after thinking about it, it’s gotta be today’s game. I’ve can’t remember a CFL QB attempting only 8 passes or the winning team being out thrown by 350 yards.
  8. They had an all time great OL for years. All Canadians too iirc
  9. Joey, I’m not angry anymore
  10. It would be nice if the Ticats took care of business tonight before hopefully having a letdown next week. Not a great start though, Hamilton just gave up a 70+ yard TD to Rankin on a little screen.
  11. Know what’s funny? Joey Corcs led the team in receiving
  12. I mean yes but it’s cool to have a legit threat to take it back when the other teams kicker shits the bed
  13. Speaking of ST’s, forgot in the 3 stars thread, huge props to the cover teams showing up against 2 dangerous returners. I think we’ve got the best kickoff and punt return coverage in the league. Have we given up a big return all year besides the one missed FG at the end of the first Ottawa game?
  14. Either this one or the 13-12 win over the Argos in 2009 with like a hundred turnovers and they won because of a Toronto last second FG miss by Medlock.
  15. 1. Vaval- The missed FG returns were the difference. 2. Allen- After one really rough play on Ottawa’s first drive he recovered to have a really solid game. 3. Brady- Running tough using the same play over and over. HH- That 30 yard loss sack of Brown that took about 45 seconds HM- Strev for the TD run and somehow being the winning QB with a stat line of 3-8-54-0-1 DM- The offence as a whole was laughable
  16. This game has honestly been hilarious. Good bad football.
  17. For the rest of the season
  18. They make Jake Thomas spin around with his head on a baseball bat like that before games
  19. After that run, 0.0. That bought Strev the rest of the time until Collaros comes back
  20. This is low-key kind of a fun game between 2 football teams that aren’t very good
  21. He’s a good enough athlete for sure.
  22. That was the funniest play of the year. Just a 10 second hold on JT and a 20 yard sack
