  1. I have twice recently had to acknowledge troll and spam warnings in order to continue to access the site. It now appears as if I have been given demerit points and suspension of posting privileges. Smart money would say my time here will be short if that is all that it takes.

Originally was not sure if it was a ruling or an accusation but would like to challenge the call if in any way possible and see what the command center has to say on the matter. Certainly don't feel I was trolling in any way and even started my reply with "respectfully disagree". I understand that long time posters are suspicious of new members.

Anyway... thanks again for the friendly Manitoba welcome not that it was needed.

What do you think Wade Miller’s responsibilities are?

Think George Costanza working for the Yankees.

Miller's activities are largely self directed with little to no accountability. He reports to the board of directors once a year.

There is no team mandate for him to be involved in stadium management, concessions or other sports. His role is not football operation related other than ensuring adherence to organizational objectives and policy.

Believe Dana Spiring is the governor and represents the Bombers in league matters.

True.  And Walters / O’Shea could have taken the quick approach and loaded up with Vets. Hell, maybe (maybe!) they could have signed Henry Burris and already won a cup. But then, what happened in 2004 - 2005?  In 2019, we have a team that is 100 times better, with a solid foundation to build on.

Respectfully disagree. Bombers have signed plenty of vets and have relied heavily on free agency to build the team.

The solid foundation you speak of is not there imo. Team is littered with entry level contracts and first year starters. No prospects outside the CFL to speak of.

It's a tribute to Stanley Bryant that he has been able to stay healthy at 35. The long snapper is 38 and still has a spot on the roster for another year.

Good luck to them the rest of the way but even if they win the cup I would still be doubtful that long term success with this group is guaranteed.

So this question goes out to anybody. This team is still a good team, so what is an actual fix? And what is the fix going into next year? We can sit here and argue but what do you guys think would make this team a winning team again?

No fix for this year coming. All that's left is to fight for whatever they can get with whoever they have left and who knows on that. A Janarion Grant return could be the difference in any upcoming game.

For the future, the answer is to back up the truck. Problems on the field are only symptoms of the real issues with the team. Bombers need to have a GM that can objectively evaluate those working under him and there needs to be a CEO capable of objectively evaluating the GM and that's not happening. It's all about hoodwinking the fans with these guys. Life has truly never been better.

Pick any season ticket holder and give them Wade Millers job and things will start to improve.  Just saying.

  5. Is there a better place to audition for a coaching position then sitting in on the TSN panel?

Worked for Lapo and will work for Benevides imo. Far and away the best technical analysis and looking pretty good in the suit. Imagine MOS in his shorts.

Point being there are plenty of qualified people. Actually thought Jim Barker looked good down on the sideline again and what a wealth of knowledge he is.

Hell, I would help O'Shea pack, but Walters has done a very good job, especially considering that he was a rookie GM when he stepped into the job. That is not to say that he is irreplaceable, but its hard to fault Walters on the basis of the body of his work thus far.

Respectfully disagree about the job Kyle Walters has done.

His best move has been to blow the sms overpaying free agents along with the loyalty re-signings that they seem to like so much.

Personally feel O'Shea is a better coach than Walters is as a general manager. If one goes the other needs to follow. Time for Wade Miller to pass the torch as well.

  7. From the Argofans board;

O'Shea's contract is up at end of season: should Argos pursue him as and/or GM/HC

With the debacle this year and last, it is time for the Argos to give serious consideration to who should be GM and HC next year. With Mike O'Shea's contract up this year, and Kyle Walters saying there will no contract extension talks with O'Shea until the season is over, Mike O'Shea heads my list of candidates for one or both jobs.

Vultures are circling. Not sure what Chamblin is making but Trestman was reportedly $600,000 per. Big payday ahead for O'Shea one way or the other. Hopefully not to be used against the Bombers in negotiations. Maybe Ambrosie has a plan to try and help the Argos and they think O'Shea is part of it. Would be like tossing them an anchor imo but likely would have good entertainment value.

Sounds like Argo fans knows more than Bomber fans.
  8. Seems the thread has wandered.

Just wanted to add to the coaching conversation by saying that both  Young and Younger are O Shea guys theoretically working under Hall and good for Richie for putting up with the bs he has taken over the years. Hopefully he has one more book to come.

Theoretical question for the masses: If Mike O'Shea is struck by lightning and can't coach who gets the promotion to interim head coach or does Kyle Walters step in? Lapo is the obvious but Hall was a head coach as well and may be a better pick. Personally would like to see what KW could do.

Time to get ready for Sask imo. Strap your helmet on for this one.

This is O'Shea's last year of the three year extension he signed in 2016. It's odd that there has been no talk of extending him again. Maybe they are waiting for the off-season to do it.

Won't be surprised to learn the extension is already done for 3 more years.

Not the first time this regime has been slow coming forth with details.

The thing that concerns me about the Bombers is it seems that there isn't an employer-employee relationship with the team. More like from Wade Miller on down to assistant coaches & scouts everyone seems like they're  all one big happy family. All close friends. Which really makes it difficult to replace someone when it needs to happen. It's hard to fire your best friend on staff if you're management or O'Shea as HC. That's just the impression I get. These guys seem to be really tight & I don't think that is necessarily a good thing. There needs to be a little fear that if you don't do your job then you are replaceable.  If Wade Miller & Kyle Walters are standing on the sidelines with serious looks on their faces then people should be concerned. I don't get that impression with the Bombers.

    Agree 100%. Good post.

Authority without responsibility. Goes all the way back to the board of directors.

Change needs to start at the top.

  11. Whoever is responsible for Jeff Hecht starting at safety and continuing to see the field needs to share the vision of what they are hoping to achieve. I doubt that person is Richie Hall. The sad part is they have gone with it all year.

Fenner is playing out of position and would be an upgrade at safety imo. 150 defensive backs were just released from NFL camps.  Maybe when Alexander comes back, Hecht sits.

Never mind half time adjustments, mid season adjustments are tough for these guys.

If you want a thread to be popular around here, you need to make it negative to stir up the debate and finger-pointing. Maybe we should make a fantasy league where you pick the worst performers of the week at each position, and include coaches and co-ordinators whose schemes are doomed to failure. Lowest point totals win.

Very wary of coming on to strong. Have already been through the "Migs" accusations.

Did include a subtle undertone of Darvin Adams not bringing value equivalent of a #1 receiver but know there are other variables affecting his production.  Corey Washington was an equally good blocker at less money and will leave it at that.

Can't imagine fantasy players not looking at Ti Cat receivers this week given the yardage Mtrl put up.  Hopefully the bend and don't break works well.

If I'm not mistaken he is now the 2nd longest serving coach in Bomber history and all we have to show for it is a .500 W/L record and one play-off win out of 4 tries.

Not slagging him but facts are facts.

I've been watching this one as well. He has passed Dave Ritchie and trails Cal Murphy and Bud Grant. Some of the totals include playoff games.

Don't see much talk about it but I believe both Walters and O'Shea's contracts are up or at least have not been announced as having been extended to my knowledge.

Giving O'Shea another 3 years could mean he passes Grant before winning a Grey Cup.  That has to qualify as having been given a chance.

Im just saying Adams trying to legit injure someone and not getting ejected for it is a problem. Its actually the biggest problem. Imagine he connected hard and bighill got knocked out?  Ya the D sucked.. Ya OC DC are 2 conservative but a guy legit tried to injure a guy and theres barely a peep from anyone about it.

It wasn't a coincidence that Bighill was in Vernon Adams face.

Everyone knows the quarterback is free game once the turnover happened and Bighill fully intended to block Adams imo regardless of where the ball was headed. All within the rules. Mike O'Shea would have done the same thing back in his playing days.

It wasn't like Adams went looking for Bighill and I don't think VA was intentionally trying to injure anyone. He reacted and was called on it.

Pretty good play by Bighill actually . Hopefully no lingering issues for him and life goes on.

Time to start thinking about Dane Evans and get back to winning football games again.

Hecht....like is predecessor at safety simply have no cover skills and concept of pursuit angles or the ability to see the field. So the solution for their limited skills is to repeatedly blitz them and play cover zero. The end result of that is if you get no real pressure on the QB you have a defence that is then exposed to the big play. We again witnessed the result. So who is to blame the DC who has a safety that can’t cover or those responsible for having the poor player in the line up? Teams will continue to exploit it by playing max protection for the QB to protect against the blitz or go after him when he can’t play in coverage.

Hecht will be 34 in a couple of days.

Maybe time to try and work Hallett or Exume in and see what they have to offer.

Never too early to start thinking about next year and that's not saying this year is over yet.

Vehemently disagree. Walters in particular has taken the long view since day one ans has built a team that looked to be the best in the league and may still be. Matthews was a gamble but so was Nichols and Andrew Harris. You pays yer money and takes yer chances, and Walters has been right a lot more than wrong.

    Long view?

Played a guy that was home sitting on his couch three days earlier after two injuries. That is not a sign of good team depth but whatever.
