You don't have to tell me about New Mexico, I've watched Anthony Bourdain's Parts Unknown. :24_stuck_out_tongue:

Well....that and Breaking Bad, Tony Hillerman's stories that were turned into movies and a great movie filmed in ABQ called Sunshine Cleaning.  And I've posted this before so, what the heck, why not again.  I worked one day on this set in my town of Belen, NM.

Just show them your indoor plumbing. They'll get confused and scared and leave on their own.

Just so you know, New Mexico isn't exactly like the rest of the country.  I call it the last frontier in the lower 48.  Don't always assume we have what the rest of the country has even in terms of plumbing.  ha ha  That is what I like about this place after spending 30 years in over-regulated California.  There are few rules out here. You can carry your gun on your hip.  You can live in a shack and no one really pays attention.  It is very cheap down here.  That is why we get our fair share of interesting people like Don up in ABQ.

Such an incestuous bunch, clad themselves in green whenever they leave the confines of their colony so they can self-identify and bond with other unfortunates.  It helps keep the gene pool shallow and prevents them from floundering in the scary "outer world".  I believe killing them for sport is illegal in most states but lucky for you not in N.M. so feel free to give er a go if another one wanders by....a crowbar works well, they don't even run.

    I love the crowbar idea.

You know, I live in the 5th largest state in terms of square miles but, with only 2.1 million people.  There is a lot of open land and hidden spots where no one would find you in this lifetime?  Hmmm.....thinking of that Gangster movie "Casino".

They have infested the American hinterland.

If that is true, they certainly won't expect a rabid Bomber's fan in New Mexico.  I may have to get a "Riders Suck" shirt.  ha ha

You know you'll see green at the Heritage Classic.

Time to take home some of those complimentary barf bags on my next Southwest flight.

  5. This weekend, I was at my local Love's Truck Stop to fill up my truck.  While waiting in line to pay, a man came in wearing a Rider's shirt (a thicker pull over).  He didn't get in line and went past me.

My first reaction to seeing that puke green shirt with their emblem .... it hearkened back to the days when I lived in the Bay Area and saw Chiefs or Broncos fans or worst of all a Whiner's fans at a Raider's game.

It's that moment where the animal instinct comes out but, you somehow catch it before it manifests into something worse. ha ha

    Go Bombers!!!

    YEEEEEESSSSSSS

AMEN from New Mexico, U.S.A. ;-)

A lot of hope at my house along the banks of the mighty Rio Grande for the Bombers to win this weekend.  I will be listening and watching online.

I leave on Monday for 8 days in the Valley of the Sun (Phoenix).  Thanksgiving is next Thursday down here.  I would love to watch the Grey Cup while in a Hawaiian Shirt and shorts in Phoenix!

    GO BOMBERS !!!!

Welcome to the family. Just make sure you develop a real hatred for those Greenies in Saskatchewan & you'll truly be one of us.

I hate the Greenies already.  There is no way I will ever root for those idiots.

did the people who watched with you enjoy it?..I know when I lived in Cali I forced some peeps to watch some games with me....all but one ended up as fans of this league still to this day

Honestly?  Intrigued more than enjoyed.  And frankly, I don't give a damn.  I wanted to watch the game at my local American Legion but, they laughed when I asked about watching the game the night before.  It was as if they thought it was a joke that any red-blooded American male would want to watch anything other than an American sport.  I felt like saying something like ..."you dumb Americans" but, I am one...ha ha.

Nope, the CFL is mine alone down here and FRANKLY, that is suits me fine.

The few checking out yesterday's game thought "oh my....it looks cold with all of those people in winter jackets."  DUH!  It is Canada.  😉

I am going to try to make it up to Winnipeg sometime to see a game and check out the City.  When I travel, I take trips without any biases.  I don't go with anything in mind other than let's check this place out.  I am not looking for some place that is like New Mexico or California where I used live or whatever.  I just go, jump in and enjoy the experience.

anyone who is a fan of football should be a fan of the CFL. I strongly believe that our rules are far superior to American rules.

No doubt in this American's mind.

I really want to come up to Winnipeg for a game as soon as next season if it works out financially for me down here (in between jobs and sometimes you don't get much in the way of vacation time in the first year).  I picked the right team PERIOD!  Blue Bomber for life!

yes.  This is why no lead is safe in the CFL.  It always bugs me to watch NFL teams walking off the field with 40 seconds left in the game and one team up by only a point.  That would never happen in the CFL.

You have that right.  FOR SURE...I have learned that no lead is safe in the CFL.

I have thoroughly enjoyed watching and listening to the Bombers and the CFL in my rookie season.  THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL I am going back to the NFL.  I  flip around and a game is on and I keep flipping.  Even when the season ends, I won't go back.

I hear you about the 40 seconds left on the clock and NFL teams walking off the field.  Ridiculous!

    GO BOMBERS!

  11. The clock stops with each down after the 3 minute warning or did I miss something?  I was having a heart attack during the final Bomber then Rider drive last night....heart attack city!

Anyway, I am so pleased today.

I had to watch the game in the TV room in my community so, several people came in to see the "novelty" of Canadian Football.  One person was there with me from the last 5 minutes of the game until the end...I had to stand the last minute or two due to being on the edge. 😉

Unfortunately,  I don't get ESPNnews which is the network showing both games on Sunday down here in the U.S.A.  So, I will catch the game on CJOB.  Fingers crossed that I'll be watching the Bombers in the Grey Cup on the following Sunday while visiting my sister in Phoenix Thanksgiving week.

    This IS the year!

    GO BOMBERS!

I still think you should come to LA if the Bombers are in the West final and Grey Cup!

On Sat - Sun 17th and 18th, I am getting ready for a trip to Phoenix.  We leave on Monday.  We're spending a week in the Valley of the Sun seeing my sister.  Then the Grey Cup is on at 4:30 MST on Sunday the 25th.  I will watch that for sure on ESPN2 at my sisters.  The 18th, I will listen to the game on CJOB....because our Bombers WILL be playing the Stamps then.  (How is THAT for confidence?)

Would love to come out to LA if the timing was right.  I could be there in 2 hours by air or drive the 800 miles.  Ah......next time.

    GO BOMBERS!!!!!!!

Don't you have some friends & family members who'd join you? At least to drink some beer. Maybe eat some pizza…. Sad you'll be by yourself. You need to make a trip to Winnipeg next year to see a game. There are members here who'll take care of you.

My wife isn't interested.  I say "Canadian Football" in my little town and people go...huh?  Some have heard of it.  Few have seen it.  I tell them the differences between the NFL and CFL and it doesn't seem to excite them.  Most of my flaky friends are back to watching the NFL even though they boycotted it last year due to the kneeling b.s.

I WOULD LOVE TO GO TO A GAME IN WINNIPEG!  I have already looked up the flights from Albuquerque and the miles involved in driving.  If I do come up, I will post to this page and let everyone know for sure!

    Pizza.....hmmm.....good idea!

GO BOMBERS!  ALL THE WAY TO THE GREY CUP!

  14. I cut the cable two years ago so, I don't get ESPN2.  I've been either watching the Bomber games as they show up on YouTube or listening to CJOB online.  However, my community has a TV room and they have cable!  So, I will be the ONLY person in Belen, New Mexico cheering the Bombers onto the Grey Cup.

However, there is one thing... I just don't think I'll run out and get some Canadian Beer.  We have so many great breweries in New Mexico.  A Happy Camper IPA from Santa Fe Brewing or a Green Chile Amber from Truth or Consequences Brewing just can't be beat......unlike the Riders who will get stomped by our Bombers!!!

Hey friends, I'll be in Los Angeles for the east/west finals and the Grey Cup, and while I have an ESPN+ subscription which I watch most games on while I'm in the US, I'd really like to hang out with some other CFL (and ideally Bomber) fans while I watch. Does anyone know of a bar or lounge that would not only have the games on, but be celebrating them with ex-pats around? Are any of you in LA mid-late November?

I will find out later today but, I am hoping my local American Legion Post (2 miles from the house here in Belen, New Mexico) gets ESPN2.  That is the channel that will run the Western Semi Finals.  And it will also run the Grey Cup later on - FYI.

If my Post has that channel, I am throwing a party.  It will be a novelty for the NFL fans there to see a CFL game.  I'll bring food and host a blue and gold party. 😉

    GO BOMBERS!

haha..I do miss that up here in Canada...as well as Crispy Creme and Sonic

Dude!  I have a Sonic in my little town of Belen and love them.  Crispy Creme is good but, Dunkin is the mainstay around here and a local place called Donut Mart.

Where are you flying into when down in LA?  LAX or Orange County or Burbank?  If flying into LAX, there is a killer donut place.  You can't miss the gigantic donut on top of the building as you fly in if you have a window seat looking onto the north side of the runway.  Randy's Donuts - Inglewood 805 W Manchester Blvd, Inglewood, CA 90301.

Well I think this sounds like a perfect plan. Depending on the results Nov 11, you should very much come in for the western final (and Grey Cup)! Let me know if you decide to make the get away a reality!

Thanks for the info, I'll look into this as well. The key for me is that I'd really like to watch the games with other fans. It'll be very odd watching such important games alone. If we actually win the cup and I'm not home for the parade, that'll kill me.

    Understood.

I just checked and the Winnipeg game is Nov 11th at 2:30 Mountain.  The BWW I can go to will be packed with NFL fans but, I think I can wing something and get the game on a small TV.  It's either that or listen to it on the radio online.
