Like I said Roh was a good signing. I knew that Westerman wasn’t coming back but they didn’t do enough to fill the gap and they cut a bunch of other guys leaving them shallow on the d-line. I just don’t understand their reasoning on this at all

Well, I have to wonder is it that we have crappy receivers or is there something in their instructions of what to do when our QB is in trouble. Whether it is Streveler or Nichols and they roll out or not why is it we don’t have the guys finding the gaps.
Is Loffler really a crappy safety or how is he being instructed? To me he isn’t the first safely we have had in the last few years that is invisible in the pass defence scheme.
What the flock has happened to our Oline? They allow Jefferson to step back from the line into the passing lane unchallenged while two linemen watch.
Has our HC deluded our players into thinking that everything is right and rosey when it is clear to many fans and “experts” they have their issues. A few years ago I couldn’t determine if it was insufficient playing or coaching that was killing us. Last year, despite the finish I thought we had most if not all the pieces to win. Now I just don’t know for sure because there just seems to be no transparency or visible leadership on this team aside from our local boys like Harris and Demski

My point is, Sask has the season series. At this point the Bombers need to beat out the Lions.....
Can that be done, I think so......but the need to put up wins. Simple. Right now 5 win's isn't going to come close. Realistic number is 8-10 or 9-9.......Do you see the bombers going 3-3 or 4-2 the remaining of the season? I do not.

TheSource reacted to blueandgoldguy in Fritz Hanson to be inducted into Ring of Honour
How about a positive thread for a change...
Fritz Hanson - the first superstar in Bomber history and one of the all-time greats from the early days of Canadian football - will be inducted to the Ring of Honour.
    https://www.bluebombers.com/2018/09/18/ring-honour-inductee-fritz-hanson/
They called him ‘Twinkletoes’, the ‘Perham Flash’ and the ‘Galloping Ghost’, and every nickname just seemed to perfectly describe his enthralling skillset.
Melvin ‘Fritz’ Hanson was the first superstar in the history of the Winnipeg Football Club, pre-dating all the legends in the Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ long and storied history, arriving decades before Stegall and Roberts, Ploen, Lewis, Gray, Tinsley, Brown, Brock, James and Walby. Hanson – the 2018 inductee into the club’s Ring of Honour – first appeared on the local football scene in 1935 during the Great Depression – spurring a $1,000 offer from the New York Giants to sign in Winnipeg instead for $800 along with a new overcoat and the chance to be close to his hometown in Perham, Minnesota.
And he instantly put the franchise on Canada’s sporting map.
The ‘Winnipegs’ – as they were known then, before the nickname ‘Blue Bombers’ was hung on them by Free Press sportswriter Vince Leah – had fallen in the Grey Cup semi-final in 1933 and were just 3-4 a year later when the Bombers added Hanson.
The game was changing then, with more American college players migrating north to Canada and passing coming into vogue.
Long overdue but I'm glad it's finally happening.

Yes, but winning or losing you can always spell out your starter. It is just not all that common now. Hamilton has had the opportunity to spell out Masoli and Calgary has had ample opportunity to spell out Bo. I just don’t get the stubbornness that coaches in this league have to spelling out their starters when they have the opportunity. Even the limited reps some of the guys had behind Nichols in the last few years helped. It really is just a mystifying thing to me.

I can completely concur with this. I actually thought Nichols was doing better until he started forcing the ball in. I have to pass some the blame on to coaching in this case though because Streveler walked on and was doing it too. It is clear to me that both QBs are taking way too much of the weight on their shoulders and are repeating mistakes over and over. I am sick to death and have been of O’Shea’s smirk and generic responses. You can be critical and provide fans and press some answers without hurting the tender feelings of the players.

Not saying anyone is less of a fan... but for those of us that are invested in the team and at every game, I'd say we have even more reason to be frustrated and fed up when things are going bad.  Quite frankly, I'm getting fed up paying $75 a ticket to watch Nichols throw dump passes and then have O'Shea stand there with a smirk on his face and tell everyone he's playing very good football.

With Hardrick back and continuing with 3 import receivers Flanders will sit. I don’t even know why they even played him last week when they totally misused him and his skill set. Personally, I would like to see Thompkins  sit and Petermann and Flanders on the starting roster.

It would be nice to have a returner with some explosive speed that could break one every so often.  Now all we have is a dependable catcher who can get 10 - 20 yards. Not bad but improved field position could help our offence out.

To be fair though Winnipeg isn’t the only team that does this. Dickenson does it with Bo. Trestman has done it with almost every QB. Berry did it with Glenn in 2007. Campbell does it a ton with Harris. I, for one, have long believed that if your starter hits a wall or if a game is decided one way or another throw your #2 in because you never know when he may actually be needed to start. No better example is needed than the 2007 Bombers. Berry had more than one chance in the last few games to give Dinwiddie some meaningful reps and he didn’t as a result when presented with a a choice of rushing for a first down or throwing the win away he threw the ball into a trap and the one sure GC win died. Right now, Hamilton, Ottawa, and Calgary are risking the same scenario and we all have known for 5 years that O’Shea would rather watch the team flounder than pull QBs or most of his starters out than actually develop the young guys. While I disagree with most here about starting Streveler I am all for him getting more meaningful reps in the game. I also don’t agree that the QB alone is our problem. I have some other theories but not being a fly on the wall in the dressing room and what not they remain theories.

This will be an interesting second half. Waiting to see which offence will hand the game to the other. I call the odds even in this game both are pretty weak teams right now.

And so far they are 0 for 2, haven’t beaten a .500+ team, and BC is playing very well defensively and have a much more threatening set of receivers. The Bombers have to start walking the walk now because the rest of the west is currently jogging into the horizon. People talk about winning a few more games. Well they are gonna have to do better than that because BC has the upper hand right now and certainly will be winning more games.

    Dunno what you’re talking about...
    2017 Riders 10-8
    2016 Esks 10-8
    2014 Lions 9-9
With the west sorting out the way it is this year, the Bombers better win some games because frankly if they don’t they aren’t going to remotely come close.

Can't put the blame wholly or even largely on Pipkin. He got no protection from his O-line and little help from his receivers. I am not sure that his coach knows what a "rouge" is yet If the Bombers manage to lose what is a close to a gimme game, they will deserve whatever scorn and derision they would get. Nothing less than a good old-fashioned ass-whupping of the hapless Als will do.
