Alexander is such a ****. He's classless & hides behind the, "Oh, don't you just love that emotion??" bullshit. Perfect foil for another dickhead qb & coach, Jason Maas. His OC Anthony Calvillo was always such a class act when he played. Alexander is an idiot.

I think we all thought that Andrew Harris was the best Canadian running back ever but Oliveira here in Winnipeg has just been outstanding. We have been very lucky the past decade to have had these two players. When Harris left, we never lost a beat with Oliveira.

The solution is simple. It's just done at the U Sport level. There's no need to change it at the high school & community levels. The CFL pays for maintenace of the U Sport stadiums they use. Remember the condition of Percival Molson Stadium with a tree growing through the stadium grandstand when the Als moved back in. McGill let the stadium fall into such disrepair that it was nearly condemned. Who spent the money to fix things? The Alouettes spent tens of millions to renovate the stadium twice. In Calgary, the University of Calgary has siphoned off money from the Stamps through the McMahon Stadium Society since 1960. The Dinos have contributed nothing. The Stamps themselves have paid for imaintenance, increased seating capacity & numerous turf field replacements for decades. In Winnipeg, has the University of MB paid for any of the maintenance to Princess Auto Stadium? Remember the dinky little Pan Am Stadium the Bisons played in for 40 years? It's still there. I assume it's used by the sports community in Winnipeg. If the CFL suddenly disappeared, the U Sport cash cows would be gone & these universiities who won't spend a penny of their money would suddenly be responsible for any maintenace & improvements. Maybe another tree would grow under & through the grandstand at Percival Molson once more before it collapses.

Schoen reinjured the same knee twice. Major reconstruction both times. It's bad enough to go through that surgewry & rehab once but twice? I'd say the chances are slim to none he comes back. He may but he won't be the same player. He's probably 30 by now & out of football essentially 3 years except for the brief time he came back last season. Do we really want to take achance he can get back to being a dominant receiver again? If he can't then why sign him? We all love the guy but I don't think he can play anymore.

Generally that's what we do. We lose on Labour Day. If you look at the record of both teams in the LDC it isn't even close in facvour of the Riders. The Banjo Bowl OTOH is in our favour when it comes to wins. Even when we had a dominant team, we found it hard to win in Regina on the LD weekend.

Nope. I just wonder why Canadians refuse to embrace our game. Even with the trade war, tariffs & the insults our country has endured from Trump himself, they still watch the NFL over the CFL. Raptor games sell out. They cheer for the Blue Jays, CFL games play in small, half empty stadiums. Crowds under 20000 are the norm now not the exception. It seems Canadians in Eastern Canada & in particular Southern Ontario could care less. I don't need to be told to not buy American or not to travel to the USA by a bunch of hypocritical Canadians in Ontario who support the NFL & reject the CFL. Or who say they won't drink Jack Daniels or Jimmy Beam but still go to ML sporting events in Toronto. Well, **** them. So no, I'm definitely not a fan of Trump. I expected Canadian football fans to wrap themselves in the Maple Leaf supporting everything Canadian like the CFL but it never happened. Oh & I see a certain someone hid behind your comments as he always does liking what you said. You blocked me you little troll. Don't make any comments on what I said.

If fans across the CFL would show up for games then they wouldn't have to look internationally for revenue & growth. For the CFL, Canada is a dead zone. I believe the fans that ***** the most don't go to the games anyway. if they love our game then where are they??? You'd think Trump Derangement Syndrome would make Canadians want to support "our game". But nope, hate the Amerians. Don't drink their liquor, don't vacation in America, we MUST buy Canadian but when it comes to the CFL, it's just minor league football. Let's support the Bills, the Lions, the Vikings & the Seahawks. Let's drive 27 hours from Winnipeg to Kansas City to watch their games. let;s walk around in NFL jerseys mocking the CFL. Because it's supposedly better football. fans in Sougthern Ontario s upport the NFL, NBA & MLB despite our trade war with the USA. Yeah, to me it's total bullshit.

Hey Rich, I want to make my weekly picks. I don't see them.

Just by a fluke I was on that flight back to Winnipeg as I had gone to the Labour Day game with my cousin who lived in Regina so I stayed the weekend at their place. I had never been on the same flight with the Bombers or any other pro sports team so it was quite interesting watching some players act like bad teenagers on the flight while the coaches seemed oblivious to the rowdy & raunchy behaviour going on around them. The 1974 season was a struggle so any win was probably just a joy for the coaches & players. Jonas was the best player on the field that day at Taylor Field. He was the hero ripping the Rider secondary for over 300 yards passing & brought the Bombers a victory on the final series where he led the Bombers downfield & Walt McKee kicked a walk off field goal on the last play of the game to seal the win for the Bombers. Don Jonas was not getting along with HC Bud Riley & GM Earl Lunsford. He had feuded with both & the Winnipeg media was all over it. A week or so previously Lunsford had commented that Jonas was having trouble reading defenses. Jonas, hugely insulted by that off the cuff remark angrily told Jack Matheson the sports editor of the old Winnipeg Tribune & beat writer for the Bombers that Lunsford had no idea what he was talking about. Jonas added that since Lunsford never came to any qb meetings or film sessions that he had no idea what he was talking about & should shut his mouth before critiquing him or any other player. Lunsford was furious. His huge ego just couldn't stand being criticized in the media. That was the beginning of the end for Jonas. No player could publicly insult Lunsford & get away with it even if the guy who did it was a former MOP of the CFL just 3 years earlier. And hugely popular in Winnipeg. Lunsford wanted Jonas gone & he began working on a deal to do just that while rocking the CFL at the time. On the late night flight home, Lunsford completed a trade that sent Jonas to Hamilton for QB Chuck Ealey who has been the 1972 CFL ROTY & MOP player in the 1972 Grey Cup. I remember getting off the plane & walking by Lunsford & Jonas who were off to the side & involved in a very, very serious conversation. I didn't think much of it until I was sleepily going to work a few hours later & heard on the radio that Jonas was gone to Hamilton for Ealey. What a shock!! I can tell you that announcement woke me up for sure. I can also say that I hated Lunsford so much after he made that trade. The guy was just a terrible GM who treated his players like ****. Yet, the Bombers BOD kept that useless .... around for 16 years until 1983.

I remember seeing some bad, bad Bomber teams rise up & win games they had no business winning. For me, the most memorable happened during the 1969 season. A real David vs Goliath game. The 1-2 Bombers played the 4-0 Roughriders. The Bombers had no business even being on the same field with the Riders that evening as we went 3-12-1 in 1969. They went 13-3 & played in the Grey Cup. They were a team of stars led by Lancaster & Reed & we were a team of nobodies whose names have since passed into history with no one even caring. We won 16-14. probably the biggest upset in the CFL that season. I think we went 1-11 after we beat the Riders. I'll never forget that game. It was the first Bomber game I ever saw live on August 27, 1969. I was 14 & hooked for life.

Aged out & injuries. The only way to describe the 1963 & 64 Bomber seasons. They came back in 1965 to go to the Grey Cup but there were a lot of replacements for the players that had retired or were hurt. Errr... Adams.

All receivers disappear it seems except Philpott in Montreal.

The knock from Hamilton is he fumbles or drops the ball at inopportune times. I don't see it.

That was a new level of absolutely no energy in the crowd I've never seen before. Even at the Bombers worst in 1969, 70, 98, 99, 12 & 13 we atleast won 2-3 games a year & the fans did keep coming out. The RedBlackd have absolutely destroyed their fanbase almost beyond repair. I blame bad management, coaching & that damned coaches/admin cap. Bad teams like Ottawa & Edmonton are hamstrung. They might as well be tossed an anchor by the league rather than a life buoy when they're trying to be rescued.

Oh, you noticed that, as well? I saw that. The little resident troll always hides behind a lot of people's comments with eye rolls directed at someone else. He has blocked me yet I see him doing the eye roll thingy whenever someone doesn't agree with me (probably because he sees my quotes) which is total cowardice. He never has the balls to directly confront me or anyone else who he criticizes or doesn't like. I may not agree with people here but I rspect the fact that they at least engage with me. Making backup qbs short yardage qbs has stunted the growth on developing qbs. Why do we need qbs to run short yardage? Look at Xavier Horvath in BC. Let fullbacks run it. What happens when we have slugs who have no talent arm wise like Tommy Stevens & Jake Dolegala that will never, EVER start... is that they take away jobs from young qbs who could be on CFL rosters. If 9 qbs every year don't get signed, that's 90 qbs a decade who never get a chance to develop into starters. Don't you think out of 90, we could find at least 8 or 9 qbs (hopefully more) who would eventually develop into starters?? If teams can't then we have a serious problem.

It wasn't Bennett's idea. He wanted to stay but Cal Murphy traded him to give Scott Flagel the starting safety spot. I'm glad he won in 1986 for the Tiger Cats. It would have been better if he was a Bomber but that's the way it goes. Bennett lives in Winnipeg.
