The 1970 Western Final was colder. Check it out on You Tube.
-
That was in 1993. I was at that game. All week long, temps in Calgary were plus 5 to 10. Then a cold front swept thru with snow & lots of wind late Saturday night thru Sunday. The temp dropped to the minus 20's by game time & windchill minus 35. I spent halftime & a bit of the 3rd quarter with a hundred other frozen guys crammed in the washroom at McMahon Stadium where there was heat trying to unthaw. It was brutal watching or playing that game as the wind was horrendous. The heater on the Stamps sideline malfunctioned. They had no heat. However, they kept the heater on at the Eskimo sideline & their players had a huge advantage, I think the rules have now changed meaning if the heater on one sideline doesn't work the other team has to turn theirs off. The next week it was plus 10 for the Grey Cup in Calgary. I hope conditions at IG Field aren't like they were in Calgary for the WDF tomorrow.

Is Vince Lombardi a legend without Bart Starr? Does Bill Belichek win 6 Super Bowls without Tom Brady? Is Bill Walsh the legend he is without Joe Montana? Does Bud Grant win 4 Grey Cups without Kenny Ploen? Is Frank Clair a 3 time Grey Cup winner in Ottawa without Russ Jackson? Is Hugh Campbell a 5 time Grey Cup winner without Wilkinson & then Moon? Great coaches need great qbs. It's not Buck's fault LaPo took the HC job with the RedBlacks. Buck was dealt a great hand having Zach Collaros as his guy & he took advantage of it. Just like all the great coaches mentioned. That's my take, anyway. Just sayin'. Not trying to lecture.

Whoever Argo employee told Bethel-Thompson he had to go to the Raptors game should be fired. Absolutely. It would be great if the Argos can build on this. If they win then fantastic. If they lose at least be competitive & don't stink the joint out. A lot of distractions going on right now. Dinwiddie & his coaches have to get the team refocused & ready to play.

To me, Buck has already shown he's a better coach & OC than LaPo. Look how the offense has been transformed with guys like Bailey & Lawler flourishing. We won with a committe of Canadian running backs this season. We weren't cute & fancy. We didn't rely on our receivers getting YAC yards to get first downs & we stretched opposition defenses throwing deep much more. The offense seemed in better sync with virtually the same players that LaPo had.

Ryan Dinwiddie never was a Coordinator with the Stamps so you never know. The only way I see Buck Pierce becoming a head coach in Ottawa is if they promote LaPo to GM & he hires Buck. Pierce would be wise to stay away from Edmonton as that entire organization has major, major dysfunctional problems.

Chris Jones. he'll take the money & be like Ted Lasso. "Okay boys,. Skates done up tight??? Ladder drills. Let's go!!!"

What the hell does farming have to do with the Western Final? I have family that are farmers in the Steinbach & Ashern/Moosehorn areas. I've never thought about if Sask has more farms than Manitoba. Like who cares?
-
For our province that is way, way too long.
-
When was the last time we won a Brier? It seems it's been forever. All these residency rule changes for the Oly trials to me is ruining the sport. Provincial rivalries should mean something but it doesn't to Curl Canada. It fuels fans interest. If a player lives in Manitoba why should he be allowed to curl for Saskatchewan? I know it's Oly Trials related but **** that. I used to play & watch curling religiously. Not anymore. I just don't care when Manitoba's best player represents the stubble jumpers.

Yes, Micah Johnson did lose his Dad recently. Forget the rivalry. Family is everything. My sympathies to him & his family. Losing a parent is tough. I strill hate the Riders but some things are more important.
-
I'd say so. They are very good.

The Stamps would be crazy to lose the guy because of Mitchell.

The best offensive line in the CFL & second isn't even close.

Lots of food places in Moosomin along the highway since #1 was diverted around the town. From the comments I read from Danny Austin on twitter & what I read online Dave Dickenson doesn't feel Maier is ready to step in as a reliever or starter which leaves me absolutely dumbfounded, Dickenson wants both Mitchell & Maier back & it appears that the club will let Maier walk in free agency if they can't sign him. This blind loyalty to Mitchell makes no sense.

I had Blue Bomber season tickets so I never took part or became a Gotch Man. Some of the guys in The Gotch Men were former Churchill Bulldog players. A couple of the guys were all atars when they played. They may have looked like football nerds wearing long underwear over their clothes but they really weren't. -

They had them for each visiting team. I used to have quite a collection going back a decade or more from 1970-80. I stopped buying them in the 80's at games. I have no idea where my collection is now. I haven't seen them in 20 years since we moved to our house in 2001. Probably in some box in the crawl space. -

The Gotch Men. All from Churchill High School. Some of them were my HS friends. -

August 27, 1969 my very first Bomber home game. The last place 1-3 Bombers met the first place 4-0 Saskatchewan Roughriders. We beat them 16-14. My friend & I sat in the Salisbury House End Zone in the south end. Tickets were 50 cents. This was the debut of QB Wally Gabler traded to the Bombers from the Argos for halfback Dave Raimey a week earlier. Here he is in action wearing #12 with fullback Bob Houmard #35, Guard Chuck Liebrock #56 & Tackle Chuck Harrison #67 blocking for him against the BC Lions. They never handed them out. You had to pay for them. -
