  1. I think his point is not so much waiting around for teams to misstep, just that every empire eventually falters. The Al's were great under Calvillo... as mentioned Edmonton had a pretty good streak in the early 80s... heck even our own team had an era of dominance. Nothing wrong with a little schadenfreude derived from Calgary down the road... especially when they've got a quarterback that is that smug.
  2. Personally, I think the recent changes to league rules regarding defending receivers have passed Loffler by... I love his style of being a player lurking in the weeds, often delivering pivotal, jarring hits on WRs. Sadly though, I think the league has been trending away from that style, and we often see Loffler (and other similar players) penalized for hits that would've been legal even say, 4-5 years ago. Also, he has had injuries in his tenure here, which will only get worse as he continues to age.
  3. Lately - Calgary, only because of their insufferable success as of late: - From 2008 - 2018, they've hosted the Western Final 7 of 11 possible times. - They've hosted the Western Final in 5 of the last 6 years, during that time span (2013 - 2018) they are a nauseating 84-22-2 in the regular season. - Last time they missed the playoffs was the same year Facebook was founded (February 4, 2004). I cannot wait for the might to fall, just like Montreal after Calvillo retired...
  4. Exhibit A of why I hate the concept of playing CFL games in non-Canadian cities:
  5. Sadly once again, father time remains undefeated...
  6. In the CFL I would argue that the kicker is second in importance only to the QB.... for the love of god resign Medlock. I still have night terrors of Justin Palardy.
  7. Absolutely, if I recall correctly... at the time he was traded Neufeld was injured too.
  8. I understand the 'Riders sold their souls to win the GC on home turf in 2013, but man, longer term did we ever get the better end of that deal.
  9. Yeah... makes me wonder what could've been if we went after Matthews harder..
  10. He has the heart that's for sure, and he's a ball hawk. There have been too many drives though this year where a receiver just absolutely manhandled him as the opposing team marched down the field...Most recently was the last home game against Calgary (by Matthews), and in that Ottawa game where they blew a 15 point lead.
  11. HH to the 8th official for somehow making CFL officiating even worse than it already was.
  12. What? At the end of the 2017 season SSK's Grey Cup drought was 4 years. At the end of the 2018 season it's now 5 years, how is that not continuing? Even for 'Rider math, that's just faulty logic. Also your team went 56 years without a Grey Cup.
  13. Trevor Harris just set the CFL playoff record with 6 touchdown passes in a playoff game.
  14. The biggest problem salary-wise is the glut of players at every position that fall just short of NFL standards. It's really just a case of supply and demand, for every roster spot on a CFL roster, there's lots of players willing to play for what is considered a living wage at their skill level. The excess supply of football players exerts downward pressure on market contract prices. Add to that no contract is guaranteed in the CFL, and you end up with players often signing for minimum contracts, sometimes being released before they're even paid a dime (a Canadian dime, no less). Raising the minimum salary in the upcoming CBA should help entice better talent up north... there is virtually no risk it will reduce the number of players, since teams are mandated to field a 46-man roster. That said, two sides to every coin, and of course team owners don't want to increase costs for obvious reasons.
  15. Actually... what you should do, is recreate the Google search bar, with the search title saying "Calgary Stampeders", but then instead have it say "did you mean choke artists?" As an example I've provided a clip from Norm MacDonald showcasing Google's sometimes hilarious (albeit sexist) search capabilities. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EemrZuElIVE
  16. The Stamps' luck ends Now! with a big horseshoe broken in two on it?
  17. I am definitely using that one next time... My personal favorite is reminding them they've only won four Grey Cups compared to our ten... to which their usual reply is how the Bombers haven't won since 1990 (27 year drought). To which I usually reply they took 56 years to win their first one.
  18. Implying they won't drown their sorrows in alcohol in Regina for the next 6 months...as for the game next week - may the best team win.
  19. ... but BB made a passing attempt on the play he was injured on, no? He was most certainly behind the line of scrimmage.
  20. ^^ This. Personally, I think they should implement an ejection rule similar to what the NCAA does. I love our rivalry with SSK even if it gets heated and people go overboard on occasion. At the end of the day it's just a game and entertainment... players are people too, and although football is a very violent game, hits like that need to be taken out of the league.
