  1. Trevor Harris just set the CFL playoff record with 6 touchdown passes in a playoff game.
  2. The biggest problem salary-wise is the glut of players at every position that fall just short of NFL standards. It's really just a case of supply and demand, for every roster spot on a CFL roster, there's lots of players willing to play for what is considered a living wage at their skill level. The excess supply of football players exerts downward pressure on market contract prices. Add to that no contract is guaranteed in the CFL, and you end up with players often signing for minimum contracts, sometimes being released before they're even paid a dime (a Canadian dime, no less). Raising the minimum salary in the upcoming CBA should help entice better talent up north... there is virtually no risk it will reduce the number of players, since teams are mandated to field a 46-man roster. That said, two sides to every coin, and of course team owners don't want to increase costs for obvious reasons.
  3. Actually... what you should do, is recreate the Google search bar, with the search title saying "Calgary Stampeders", but then instead have it say "did you mean choke artists?" As an example I've provided a clip from Norm MacDonald showcasing Google's sometimes hilarious (albeit sexist) search capabilities. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EemrZuElIVE
  4. The Stamps' luck ends Now! with a big horseshoe broken in two on it?
  5. I am definitely using that one next time... My personal favorite is reminding them they've only won four Grey Cups compared to our ten... to which their usual reply is how the Bombers haven't won since 1990 (27 year drought). To which I usually reply they took 56 years to win their first one.
  6. Implying they won't drown their sorrows in alcohol in Regina for the next 6 months...as for the game next week - may the best team win.
  7. ... but BB made a passing attempt on the play he was injured on, no? He was most certainly behind the line of scrimmage.
  8. ^^ This. Personally, I think they should implement an ejection rule similar to what the NCAA does. I love our rivalry with SSK even if it gets heated and people go overboard on occasion. At the end of the day it's just a game and entertainment... players are people too, and although football is a very violent game, hits like that need to be taken out of the league.
  9. Love the gutsy win, but I'm just saying the rule book specifically states the following: A player shall be penalized for any act of Unnecessary Roughness to the passer, including but not limited to: (b) Any blow to the neck or head of the passer, (f) Contacting the passer if either the initial source of contact, or primary source of contact, is the defender's helmet. Whether or not Bridge was inside the pocket is irrelevant, if it's a hit to the head, or even if the defender leads with their helmet - it's a penalty. 10. 1. Nichols - no picks. 2. Harris was absolutely dominant. 3. Wolitarsky had some monster plays in the first half when the home crowd was really in it. HH - Dressler - not a big stat line, but huge leader on the field.
  11. Damnit Harris stop padding your stats and just get the TD you don't need the TD and the fumble recovery.
  12. Uh.... to go up 7? People always seem to forget that if you go for 2 and don't get it, the other team can take the lead off a touchdown + 1 point convert.
  13. CFL record for a shutout win in the playoffs is 45-0 back on November 16, 1963.
  14. As long as the fumble and subsequent advancement of the ball isn't considered intentional, it's a perfectly legal play. If there's a fumble, you can't bat the ball forward with your hand intentionally, but you could legally advance a fumble forward by performing a dribble kick (section 17). With that said though - I thought he advanced the fumble intentionally...which is definitely illegal.
  15. For those interested in a little CFL playoff history: Largest CFL comeback playoff history: Nov-09-1963: Saskatchewan overcame a 26 point differential deficit against Calgary after losing game 1 35-9 and won game 2 39-12. They advanced based on point differential (48-47). Back then, two games were played and if the playoff series was split, the winner advanced based on point differential. Largest comeback in single playoff game: Nov-20-1960: Ottawa overcame a 20 point deficit to win 21-20. So yeah, barring historical, record-setting playoff comebacks not seen in 50+ years, Lions are toast.
  16. Interesting fact (according to TSN 1150) the 8-10 Ti-cats are the only team in league history to have a positive points for/against differential, losing record, and host a playoff game.
  17. How much of this is Ti-cats waking up, and how much is BC being completely unprepared?
  18. Welp... early on BC is looking like a typical crossover team. I know in the playoffs anything can happen, but there's good reason no crossover team has ever played in the Grey Cup.
  19. Only two things more important than the run battle in a cold weather game like this...the turnover battle and of course, the final score.
  20. I just meant nothing would shock me at this point, this is the same team that signed Trent Richardson and Vince Young...
  21. It's all a ruse. I wouldn't be surprised if Tate started tomorrow.
