  1. not a fan of 1 division. From a player standpoint there would only be CFL all star or nothing, so a lot of bonuses wouldn't be hit for players as I believe being named a division all star likely part of the incentives in many contracts. From a team POV the eastern teams would never get a home playoff game, or very rarely with the way things have been going, which is revenue lost for those franchises. That being said if we were looking to add franchise or relocated this is what I would do; 1. QC as the 10th. They have a population slightly bigger then Winnipeg, so getting 25-30K a game shouldn't be hard and split the territory with Montreal (like Northern Quebec, New Foundland and Nova Scotia belong to QC, montreal gets southern Quebec, PEI and New Brunswick) 2. Move the Argos to Kitchner or London. both are down the street from the GTA so you can still attract your couple dozen argo fans there and both have a population almost 2x that of regina If the QC expansion didn't pan out I'd give Halifax a shot before going back to 9 teams
  2. i think we beat both. Everyone fears a trap game, but Hamilton is 0-6 for a reason. and edmonton... 2nd straight game on the road, losing Howard and Sewell last night is, as Jason Maas even put it, devastating. At some point the injuries will catch up to them in a big way, don't see why it won't be next week
  3. Looks good, hopefully Carmichael continues to play well. I think he really benefitted last game from the lack of fishing expeditions the most. I gotta say (while knocking on wood) it amazes me how healthy our Oline has been for Nichols. Sure don't miss the days where we constantly had starters going down and never having a complete OL of starters at any given time
  4. upon closer inspection it appears to be not music but
  5. most of my tennis followings rely on what I see from sportscenter in highlights. Bouchard reminds me a of a while back when russian tennis babe Anna Kournikova was all over the news. Hot young chick (at the time) will a little success early but nothing but mediocrity the rest of her career. But i guess that happens a lot in sports now and days. Sometimes appearance is just as important as skill when it comes to fandom
  6. I thought he was done too being down 3-0, but good on him capitalizing on Nadal's mistakes. He's apparently the first 18 year old this far since Nadal in 2004. I get the feeling he's going to be over hyped like Genie Bouchard, but hopefully his career has a better trajectory following this tourney
  7. I voted not quite there yet but almost. Lately he's been using his legs alot more which seems to have opened up a new dimension to the play calling. If he gets his accuracy on the deep ball a little more on point, sky's the limit
  8. I'm not a tennis fan by any means but I just watched that 18 year old canadian Denis Shapovalov defeat the #1 seed Nadal in a tie breaker in the 3rd round. Gotta say that was some pretty compelling viewing. Still not a big fan of the sport but that was something, and on home soil.
  9. Argo's starting 3rd stringer Jeff Matthew tomorrow against the Als. Trestman must not have been impressed with Fajardo's constant scrambling and running with the ball
  10. many are saying they need to do that but only the Jones Junk Jugglers are booking it as a reality. Those type of posters tho are becoming few and far between every loss. I can't wait till the LDC when I can remind the riders not only is Scrub Nichols STILL undefeated against the riders, but the bombers are also undefeated at NMS
  11. I felt the same (picking him at #1) With Kohlert gone, the only real NI option we had to start was JFG. And while he's been doing a decent job, even last year, I had 0 faith Richards could stay healthy (which he didn't) and not really sure what we had in Coates. IMHO that was our biggest area of need going into the draft, especially when we already had Westerman, Thomas and Corney as our NI DL. but c'est la vie. And yeah that sample size is extremely little from Vandervoort but it equals what Richards did in 2 full seasons with double the production
  12. http://www.tsn.ca/former-nhl-f-olczyk-diagnosed-with-cancer-1.825222 Hope he overcomes it. While his time with the Jets 1.0 was only a few years, it was roughly around the time I really started watching sports so for me he was one of the first Jets that stood (also largely due to my older sister's fascination with Jets players and building shrines for them in her room )
  13. Absolutely, only reason why i brought up the hindsight of the draft was in reference to why I'm not a fan of the timing with Richards. Atomic said he didn't think we lost anything keeping him around and I believe we did as I mentioned
  14. no extra draft pick, ultimately I'm saying we take Grey instead of Conteh at 23 My buddy works for the bombers and was in the war room with them on draft day on TSN, the things i'm saying are fact. We got everyone we wanted except for Vandervoort. Once he was gone before our 6th pick we traded down and took Grey. What i'm saying though, is if we didn't have Richards prior to the draft our need for NI receiving depth behind JFG and Coates would have likely been priority #1 and we choose Vandervoort instead of Ekakite. However I'm not sure how coveted Ekakite was at the time of the draft other then by us who became sold on him relatively last minute based on his film work, nothing we'd really seen in person, so I think there was a good chance he (Ekakite) would have been available to us at 6 (or 8th after the trade with Calgary) we still could have select Spooner at 15 (or Grey) and possibly one or the other at 23 instead of Conteh
  15. I don't disagree with Richards decision as PR money isn't all that good from what I recall so if you can get more money off the field doing something else it's not the worst choice all things considered. But I don't like the timing. As I mentioned, if we knew Richards would hang them up before the draft, we would have picked Vandervoort. I mentioned it before in a past draft thread in talking with my buddy he said Vandervoort was the only player we wanted that we didn't get. And he has since said Ekakite was sold on us based on his film that hasn't transferred to pro ball...yet. With the play of Poop and Thomas, I'm really starting to think Vandervoort would have been the wiser #1 and see if Ekakitie was available at #6 (or subsequently #8 after we traded down) and go from there. We may have missed out on Grey but who knows, maybe he would have been deemed such a future we could have gotten him at 23 instead of Conteh
  16. I think if we only had JFG and Matt Coates as our NI options we may have drafted Danny Vandervoort at #1 instead of Ekakite. But having Richards as well at the time likely made it less of a priority so there was probably some impact to keeping him around.
  17. Considering Wally tried to grab Guy off the riders PR and now have brought in NI Andrew Jones, it reeks of desperation so i'm saying smart money is on BC trying for Spooner
  18. Bauming says Thorpe not practicing today, Johnson isn't practicing with the 1s. If thorpe is a no go that sucks, we already have lankford filling in for Dressler, who would take thorpes spot?
  19. I will say Speedflex was 100% correct we should have taken Lamar Durant after Demski was off the table, but hindsight as they say is a female poodle. Sucks the pick never materialized into anything substantial for us, but even if healthy, I'm not entirely sure he would have unseated Kohlert at the time, or JFG currently, so it might be a matter of nothing gained nothing lost
  20. At least we got a few laughs from his hair
  21. is it just me or is the commentating in wrestling just gone to ****. On top of my issue with Booker T's often mumbled nonsense, they keep dropping these awful references. Like after Lesnar F5's the Miz, Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel, I believe it's Michael Cole who says "We haven't seen that many F5s since Sharknado!" and later on references The Big Show and Enzo as radioactive man and fall out boy??
  22. Actually not just the absence of Steinauer, but also Tommy Condell the last 2 years. Steinauer & Condell >> Reinebold & Ptaszek
