  1. not sure how much neufeld would fetch us in a straight up trade, but someone else worth maybe thinking about is Couture. Young and cheap enough, and with Spooner and Gray in our back pocket, Couture might be ale to get a better trade on the table
  2. Finally got around to binge watching The Defenders since i finally got some consecutive days off in row, gotta say it fell kinda flat for me. Maybe I'm just getting tired of the same reworked story over and over and the same style in everyone of these netflix marvel shows. The initial idea of how they would come together piqued my curiosity and learning a little more about the 5 fingers of the hand was welcomed but that was all accomplished by episode 4, so from episode 5-7 was just filler that totally brought the season down IMO. The ending leaves me scratching my head too. I'm still trying to figure out who the biggest ***** was in all these shows. So far it's a toss up between Matt Murdock, Luke Cage and Claire Temple
  3. I think he could be if needed but I think primarily he is a WIL and would take over for Kyle Knox. He's same height and about 10lbs lighter than singleton as a comparison, and bigger than Knox currently. I think until Wild came back he would play as our WIL. If a time came and we replaced Hurl, then we'd have to play thomas full time at DT imo
  4. If Walker returns to Edmonton, other names that have been bandied about are Eric Rogers and Chris Matthews. I'd be interested in anyone of those 3, preferably Walker, Matthews, Rogers in that order as Rogers ACL injury last year may or may not still be a thing (haven't heard much about him since). that Bomber talk guy for 3dn says Bombers could take an interest in Jeff Knox jr (LB) but I think i'd be more focused on the secondary TBH. Grymes or Otha Foster would be upgrades to Fogg at HB
  5. i'm not 100% sure but i thought there is a member named Shankman or Shanks or something, doesn't post much/at all, but I've seen the name on a couple posts over the years.
  6. I would prefer Sasse over Cena TBH. The inevitable Shazam vs Black Adam showdown will happen, and having 2 wrestlers (current or former) I think will take away froom the characters and have fans expecting a people's elbow or a 5 knuckle shuffle. If these 2 characters are to be included in the DCU down the road I think it would have been better to get someone similar to Cavill's size. Shazam and Black Adam both are about the size of Superman. If I had done the casting and it was a priority to find a role for Cena and the Rock, I probably would have made Cena Darkseid and the Rock as Bane
  7. That's the Giants I believe your refering to **edit I see MObomberfan linked a 3downnation article stating a bunch of CFL'ers got a work out with the Jets. Again I'm pretty sure that was due to Drew Morris who would have his finger on the cfl pulse and watching it closely for any decent prospect/players
  8. Yes, Drew Morris our former scout who Walters hired originally. He was the one who talked Walters into drafting Gray after he attended Gray's pro day.
  9. a big ol meh from me re: this game. LDC is always a tough game but at least we got some points back there (tho a little more would have been nicer). So we win the BB by 12 and we take the series. The end. oh yeah and don't spot them so many points in the first half
  10. I remember that catch like it was yesterday, it was shortly after midnight (as the game was in edmonton) baby momma's passed out with her head in my lap, beer in one hand and BOOM i jumped off the couch cheering, knocking her to the ground and spilling my beer... She wasn't too pleased and I ended up sleeping on said couch that night... but totally worth it
  11. lol that was the worst thing to happen to wrestling for a long time
  12. Yeah up next is the 12th seed, but he just knocked off the 8th seed his previous match in Tsonga and did so pretty dominantly. Thing I'm most impressed about this kid is how well he rises to the challenge when playing these high seeded players. Being as young as he is with a lot of growing to do in his game, I think we're for sure seeing something special here. I thought maybe the Roger's Cup was a 1 off due to the home crowd boost but he's starting to put that doubt to bed. Since he didn't qualify for the wild card in this major he's won 6 straight matches to get this far. It's also pretty amazing how much the crowd is being him at this US open. Every match i've watched so far the fans have been behind him 100%. Almost feel bad for the other players as they get next to no cheers when they do well lol
  13. well other then rocky miavia he was basically the same character for a while, even when he was in the nation of domination. I never watched Steve Austin in WCW or ECW when he was part of the hollywood blondes with brian pillman so i can't really comment, but he was pretty restricted by those knee braces. a lot of his in ring stuff was throwing haymakers, stompin mudholes, suplexes and of course his stunner. wasn't much different then what the rock was doing over all. FUN FACT: after showing that Kama the Supreme Fighting machine debut against the (Then) jobber Matt Hardy... Steve Austin's debut match with the WWF was also against the same jobber, Matt Hardy
  14. I remember having Stone Cold vs The Rock debates back in the day. I've read on a few places The Rock was voted usually 2nd all time on the mic (only behind Flair). I would say their in ring moves/ability were roughly on par, but the edge goes to the rock based on his mic skills. Character wise I think Stone Cold had the cooler one and I think he sold more merch but I can't even count how many times I caught people repeating Rock catch phrases on the daily. "Know your Role and Shut Your Mouth" ... calling someone a jabronie or a roody poo candy ass, asking someone if they know what your cooking... interrupting someone telling them it doesn't matter what they think...etc I heard those everywhere back in the day. Of course "Cuz stone cold says so" was repeated alot but never as much and as many different quotes as the rock.
  15. Didn't want to bump the Rogers Cup thread as he's in the US open right now. I've caught his last 3 matches including today's win over Edmund as he moves onto the 4th round (16 players). For only 18 this kid is pretty good and fun to watch. Still has some obvious flaws to his game, but looking at his schedule he has a very good chance to make it to the final 4. Commentators were saying even if he lost today he likely would have risen to about 58th in the world, but now it can be even higher. There was another 17 year old Canadian the commentators were mentioning named Felix Auger-Aliassime who they think is even better then Shapovalov, as he's the 7th youngest player to crack the ATP top 250 and win a challenger. As a Canadian, tennis might be something to watch for next foreseeable future. Suddenly we're a hot bed for rising tennis stars
  16. My prediction is the Random Death Thread 2017 will have the inclusion of the Riders season and their fans hopes included in there by monday morning
  17. Yep it's no wonder why WCW was beating WWF(E) for a time there, but all the props in the world for guys like Austin, The Rock, HHH, HBK and Mick Foley for doing what they needed to do and reclaim the top of the mountain. That was truly a great time to be a wrestling fan
  18. TNA had so much wrong with it, one of the biggest things was, and I'll coin this RF overkilled wording, "scrap heaping". They were getting guys that were on the outs with WWE. guys at the end of their career or B-listers. At least when WCW hit their peak they brought in guys like Nash, Hall, Hart, Hogan, and the macho man to name a few, and even tho some of these guys were getting up there in age, they carried a lot of fan fare. Just looking over some of the names WCW/NWO had (aside from the above mentioned) in 96-97 was Curt Hennig, Brian "Crush" Adams, Rick Rude, Scott Steiner, The Big Show (then known as the Giant), Sting, Ted DiBiase, Xpac (Syxx). If you couldn't do anything with a roster like that 20 years ago you should have no business running a wrestling company. Now the point I was making is let's say a company like ROH was able offer more money and attract some stars from the current WWE to add to their roster. Guys who more or less have some fans but don't seem to get much of a push, Zayn, Ziggler, Luke Gallows/Karl Anderson, Fandango, Luke Harper maybe a few from NXT... spring in some other bigger names like CM Punk and maybe some disgruntled big names in TNA/Impact and I think with the right people running the show you could make it something worth taking an interest in if your a fan of the sport
  19. which is why I said if they can be competitive in terms of what they pay their wrestlers, you could get a few WWE stars jump ship once their contracts were up. It's basically what WCW did to over take WWE for a spell and for a short while what TNA did to capture a lot of attention. I don't think any promotion will ever topple the WWE, but I do believe there could one day be one like WCW that offered an alternative that really forced WWE to step up it's game. Once they crushed their opponent, they went back to some bland ****. For WWE's sake they should hope to get some competition, it makes them a lot better and less complacent
  20. I think so too, possibly even TNA if they got their financials in order, but they may have burnt a lot of bridges with the way things have been going there over the years and wrestlers being ripped off. If ROH could offer competitive $ to their employees I think you'd see a lot of wrestlers jump ship. The idea of being a bigger fish in a smaller pond for equal - slightly less would sure appeal to some especially if they aren't being pushed in anyway in WWE
  21. I think you could get another but you'd need the perfect situation like Ted Turner - a billionaire with his own TV network ready and willing to invest the time and resources needed for it to grow. TNA if it had that kind of backing could have done much better, but seems like from the get go it was flying by the seat of it's pants hoping it would self itself fast enough to become something relevant, at least more then it was. That's why when I hear of Jeff Jarrett and the struggles to get a decent TV contract, imo it'll never be anything more then a glorified indy program
  22. I dunno about you, but I have always felt I represented the bomber fan base to a T.... Smart, articulate, fashionably sound in blue in gold, drunk AF and a sucker for punishment
  23. I think the rock's had the longest lasting impact from the attitude era. He raised the bar in doing promo's that hasn't been matched since. I think CM Punk, corporate HHH and to some extent Cena have been the closest since but it was too few and far in between. The Rock was bringing it week to week. Cena has been probably the most consistent (until recently) but his promos get far too repetitive
  24. It's not necessarily a downward one either (see Neville). Other then Cass for the obvious reasons, Enzo doesn't have much of a fit on the big shows. He's too small to fight the big guys and not good enough of a wrestler to keep up with the mid carders. 205 (or NXT to get better) would be the only places I could see him. Due to him being over he will get the Raw-205 spots so it's not like he will be absent too much if at all. It might have been a short lived gimmick but I would have rather seen enzo become like a manager - in the sense he starts up his "School of Hard Knocks: How to become a certified G" and takes in X wrestler here and there. Maybe cause some issues with Titus Worldwide..etc
  25. The attitude era IMO was defined by a couple things, not so much individuals. 1. An FU to authority (Austin vs McMahon) 2. Factions and "War" - remember the Raw is War slogan? 3. The monday night wars - where the inmates ran the asylums (NwO and DX) The Godfather while capitalizing on the popularity of the criminal underworld - in this case Pimps and Prostitution, was never much of anything during this era except a mid carder. Interestingly enough he won the IC belt off Golddust and was schedule to lose it to Owen Hart (Blue Blazer) the night he died. Instead he lost it a week later to Jeff Jarrett. My personal hatred of a character during the attitude era was the Biker Taker. I know that was more closer to the actual man not the character, but anytime you come out to Limp Bizkit as your theme song, you should be booed lol
