Right but after getting cut and moving to a quality team it’s hard to imagine the salary is equivalent. -

I sure hope this is just a replacement for Wilson/Whitehead and not a replacement for Scheon or Lawler. I’m viewing this more as a placeholder with the hope that someone else beats him out in time. -

Imagine how much better this strategy would work if we had elite linebackers and defensive lineman? I don't expect Tyrell Ford to be back next year and that's certainly going to hurt the strategy we have been using. We need ballhawks out there for this strategy to work but i see a team desperate for a ratio breaker to be able to significantly outbudget the bombers on Ford. Since we only use him as a surplus National rather than as a ratio breaker we can't pay him like a ratio breaker. Would like to see us go over the cap and sign a few guys like this to lucrative one year deals but I don't feel like that is in the cards the way Nuefeld is talking about players leaving for greener pastures. -

I think SpeedFlex27 is struggling with philosophical differences rather than results. Its very easy to use data to show that all things considered the Bombers defense was good if not elite. However, almost none of us like the idea of them being successful with such a soft strategy. In the past the strategy of laying back with a bunch of defensive backs in coverage while providing mediocre to poor QB pressure never really ended well of us. But its hard to argue with the results we had last year with it. -
2024/2025 CFL (non-Bomber) Off-Season Thread

With Rourke on offence and Betts on defence who needs any other players right? This team is a bit of a joke with how much money they have to pay players to re-sign there. A lot of money for two players who’ve had a season of dominance in the cfl and then some ordinary play. -

Is it odd that 3 different QB's starting Grey Cup's against us the last 3 years. Winnipeg lost all three games. Not a single one of those three is projected to be a starter heading into training camp this year. -

What's the point of overspending the cap if we're just using it to overpay for returning players. In order for it to make sense you want to get everyone to buy into actually accepting fair pay or in some cases taking paycuts and then using the extra money to bring in outside talent that can put the team into a better position to win a cup. They shouldn't overpay for anyone though. Doesn't sit well with the players who took fair value. -
Let's just be greatfull they aren't dressing Schoen and Bighill in their current state. 🤣 Wilson and Alexander were full participants in practice. Correct me if i'm wrong but I don't think that happened with Schoen and Bighill Grey Cup week last year?

Dunk missed a stat or two... Passing yards against by Riders 294.5 - 2nd Last! -------------------------------------------------- Riders are upper tier in pass rush. Boy if Milligan is actually half as good as they say what does this all tell you about the talent in the rest of the Riders secondary? -

And Yager? My main issue with the McGroarity situation is that we gave up someone who was likely to be able to be a 2nd line center in the future and have no solution in site to an obvious team weakness. I was hoping due it his speed that Lambert could play the position better than Perfetti. -

Do you guys think that Lambert can stick at center in the NHL? -
Bombers at Elks GDT (Ford vs. Ford)
Colin Unger replied to K-Shack's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Not sure that MBT gives them a greater chance to win. With Ford out there they were able to rip us on the run since we were focused on containing Ford. Their run game will be less of a weapon without worrying about containment. -

Any thoughts on who we bring in? Dolegala comes to mind. Anything else out there? -
All i can say is i hope that Nuefeld's play this season is explained by an injury that is now healed. I guess im crazy to think there was a chance they would us Neufeld as a backup once healthy. Scary stuff.
-
Would love to know what Noeller is so confused by? I don't want to see Nuefeld starting over Randolph... what exactly is confusing?
-
If this is our confidence level in Strev's passing why wouldn't we look at bringing in a veteran. Even Dolagala would be worth looking at.
-
I'm going to be pretty disappointed if Randolph gets relegated to a backup role. Let Neufeld rest his old body until he's needed and keep starting Randolph who's our best guard. Especially if he is going to be on the roster anyways you might as well start him. He's and upgrade over any of our canadians.

Dinwiddie is a good coach but he really makes game day decisions based on emotions. -

Remember that vividly…. I was actually at that game. -
To my memory Streveler only ran during the more obvious 2nd and long situations.

I'm pleasantly surprised with how well the bombers came out and played. Usually on labor day the Riders get an uncanny boost that we can't match. This one played out like a regular football game and until Zach got injured Winnipeg dominated. Its hard to tell if our offensive line was playing well in pass protect or if it was more a case of Zach getting rid of the ball very quickly. We would have won handily had Zach not been taken out on the cheap shot. Its annoying how handle Streveler when he's in. I feel like if he could at least attempt a few passes of more than 10 yards down field it might open up the run game a bit more. Our strategy against the 2nd best run defense in the league was to make it obvious we were going to run on every down and then do so poorly. It was also annoying how they used the idea of Streveler running on first down as a decoy the entire 2nd half and never actually let him do it once they were keying on BO. I think its quite obvious that Streveler's use is a Lapo vs Buck Pierce thing. It was quite revealing during that broadcast when Lapo mentioned he would have had Streveler throw the ball on 2nd and short. I think if Lapo were here we'd be doing a lot more with Streveler than we are. We use him less than we used Prukop in gadget plays and we probably have him passing the ball less than we would had done with Prukop when he's in the game in place of a injured Collaros. It was probably the right strategy for this game to trust the defense but its irritating we don't get Streveler a chance to grow as a passer. If Zach can't go next week we will have to let Streveler pass the ball more. However, I personally think Zach is out for very precautionary reasons and that he will play this week. If he was actually failing all kind of concussion protocols he wouldn't have stood alone on the sidelines catching players as they came out of bounds. At what point do we stop putting Bighill back in when he's healthy enough to do so? He's pretty much at the point on his career where he can't finish a game. I really like this Jones at linebacker. He's a keeper.
