  1. Mike Miller seems like the obvious choice for the OC job. He's been an offensive co-ordinator in the NFL and CFL. He's been a defensive co-ordinator in college (not necessary but speaks to his overall experience). And recently he's helped develop successful QB's in Toronto as their QB coaching while working under probably the best offensive mind in the league right now.
  2. It would be pretty wild if the team entered the legal tampering window without an OC in place. I'm expecting this hire to take place this week. But I'm not sure that logical timetables are a high priority.
  3. Even if that's true he's got two more years on his entry level deal here in Winnipeg. That's an eternity for a CFL team hosting the Grey Cup this season.
  4. Jake played 36 games the last two years would likely be where he would start the conversation.
  5. That's sort of my point. At the end of the day im expecting us to replace Woli, Wilson, Lawler and Scheon with Clercius, Mitchell, one of Lewis, Schoen, or Lawler at lower salary then they were being paid last year. It will end up being a net gain in cap space. Had Wilson come back maybe we don't sign Mitchell and maybe we don't cut Wolitarsky.
  6. Was really disappointing from a cap perspective when Wilson signed in the NFL. He would have provided a lot of surplus cap value coming back on his rookie deal. Maybe Woli is still on the team if we got this kind of cap value from Wilson rather than from a rookie Canadian receiver we end up drafting. Probably looking at about 40k in cap savings by dressing a player we draft in the 2nd or 3rd round instead of Woli. Does anyone know if we qualify for another compensation pick due to ranking in the top 2 of Nationals snaps per team? Looks like the team has a desire to change your cap allocation. They're trying to take advantage of value (Clercius, Mitchell, ect) at receiver in order to redistribute that wealth somewhere else. I noticed also that our right tackle Loften is currently unsigned. I hope that they move on from him with the cheaper and probably better Randolph penciled in as the starter. Should be plenty of cap savings here to re-sign Dobsen and add to the defense.
  7. Right but after getting cut and moving to a quality team it’s hard to imagine the salary is equivalent.
  8. I sure hope this is just a replacement for Wilson/Whitehead and not a replacement for Scheon or Lawler. I’m viewing this more as a placeholder with the hope that someone else beats him out in time.
  9. https://www.bluebombers.com/2025/01/13/blue-bombers-sign-receiver-dillon-mitchell/ nothing about this surprises me. Can compete at receiver and kick returner.
  10. Imagine how much better this strategy would work if we had elite linebackers and defensive lineman? I don't expect Tyrell Ford to be back next year and that's certainly going to hurt the strategy we have been using. We need ballhawks out there for this strategy to work but i see a team desperate for a ratio breaker to be able to significantly outbudget the bombers on Ford. Since we only use him as a surplus National rather than as a ratio breaker we can't pay him like a ratio breaker. Would like to see us go over the cap and sign a few guys like this to lucrative one year deals but I don't feel like that is in the cards the way Nuefeld is talking about players leaving for greener pastures.
  11. I think SpeedFlex27 is struggling with philosophical differences rather than results. Its very easy to use data to show that all things considered the Bombers defense was good if not elite. However, almost none of us like the idea of them being successful with such a soft strategy. In the past the strategy of laying back with a bunch of defensive backs in coverage while providing mediocre to poor QB pressure never really ended well of us. But its hard to argue with the results we had last year with it.
  12. With Rourke on offence and Betts on defence who needs any other players right? This team is a bit of a joke with how much money they have to pay players to re-sign there. A lot of money for two players who’ve had a season of dominance in the cfl and then some ordinary play.
  13. Is it odd that 3 different QB's starting Grey Cup's against us the last 3 years. Winnipeg lost all three games. Not a single one of those three is projected to be a starter heading into training camp this year.
  14. What's the point of overspending the cap if we're just using it to overpay for returning players. In order for it to make sense you want to get everyone to buy into actually accepting fair pay or in some cases taking paycuts and then using the extra money to bring in outside talent that can put the team into a better position to win a cup. They shouldn't overpay for anyone though. Doesn't sit well with the players who took fair value.
  15. Let's just be greatfull they aren't dressing Schoen and Bighill in their current state. 🤣 Wilson and Alexander were full participants in practice. Correct me if i'm wrong but I don't think that happened with Schoen and Bighill Grey Cup week last year?
  16. Dunk missed a stat or two... Passing yards against by Riders 294.5 - 2nd Last! -------------------------------------------------- Riders are upper tier in pass rush. Boy if Milligan is actually half as good as they say what does this all tell you about the talent in the rest of the Riders secondary?
  17. Can't say it isn't well earned.
  18. And Yager? My main issue with the McGroarity situation is that we gave up someone who was likely to be able to be a 2nd line center in the future and have no solution in site to an obvious team weakness. I was hoping due it his speed that Lambert could play the position better than Perfetti.
  19. Do you guys think that Lambert can stick at center in the NHL?
  20. Not sure that MBT gives them a greater chance to win. With Ford out there they were able to rip us on the run since we were focused on containing Ford. Their run game will be less of a weapon without worrying about containment.
  21. I wonder what the cost of acquiring Masoli would be
  22. Any thoughts on who we bring in? Dolegala comes to mind. Anything else out there?
  23. All i can say is i hope that Nuefeld's play this season is explained by an injury that is now healed. I guess im crazy to think there was a chance they would us Neufeld as a backup once healthy. Scary stuff.
  24. Would love to know what Noeller is so confused by? I don't want to see Nuefeld starting over Randolph... what exactly is confusing?
  25. If this is our confidence level in Strev's passing why wouldn't we look at bringing in a veteran. Even Dolagala would be worth looking at.
