So when you steal a bottle from the LC whole security watches helplessly you can no longer go to the library with it because security will be tighter.

Yup, you gotta go drink it in a Cityplace bathroom or the library parkade first.

I guess those stem cell treatments aren't working out as great as he claimed they were...

I'm pretty sure the only HC currently in the $10M area is Jon Gruden (2.5M per win)... but the top end guys would be in the 5-8M range... which is certainly a nice little payday..

Was recently reported that Pete Carroll's new contract puts him in that neighbourhood, and Belichick was already there...

Just to interject, this is a private member bill that has had first reading. Some local "media" were reporting this like it had passed the committee work, 2nd and 3rd reading, received Royal Assent and was proclaimed.

We're very far from this being passed.

I hadn't noticed that. And considering it came from a guy the PCs booted from their caucus, it's got about the same odds of passing as he had of convincing that young female staffer to sit on his lap during a crowded meeting.

He gets paid good money in the CFL.  Its hard to get figures on what a rookie defensive co-ordinator would make in the NFL but I don't think it would be a pay increase.  I view him as a control freak who would rather run his own show and be in charge then take orders as a defensive co-ordinator in the NFL.  But I was thinking that a more realistic situation would be him turning down a job as a defensive line coach.  Don't think Millanovich would have left the CFL either had he not been working for a mickey mouse organization with writing on the wall that he was going to be fired.

IIRC, Milanovich got ~$350k US to be the Jag's QB coach a couple years ago. Jones would undoubtedly make far more money as a DC (even on a first contract) than he does in the CFL. Plus, the ceiling down there is much higher. There are multiple HCs in the $10 million/year range, and top coordinators like McDaniels and Fangio can make millions per year as well.

Statistics Canada is about to require Canada’s nine biggest banks and credit unions to turn over highly personal data about their customers and not tell the customer. That includes name, address, social insurance number and every single banking transaction that person does in a year.

So, time to switch to Portage Credit Union?

Another thing.. I didn't realize what a whiney lil twit Dickenson is..and used to think he was a straight up dude but after that game..man..lost a lot of respect for him..makes u appreciate o'shea and his calm demeanor and way he shows displeasure on sideline

Noticed that last time we played them too. He had something to complain about after every single play.

Name me three cities that are cold weather cities which have significant percentages of their population walking or cycling as their main form of transportation?

Minneapolis has made huge advances in cycling over the past decade. Too lazy to look up the actual stats, but they've built a lot of bike lanes and corridors. https://gizmodo.com/why-minneapolis-is-one-of-americas-best-winter-biking-c-1573185188

Don't forget pretty much any major Scandanavian city...

Also, just because someone doesn't want to bike in January, it doesn't mean we shouldn't have the infrastructure in place for them to do so in July. Ever visit a beach, go camping, or play a game of baseball in Manitoba? Betcha it required some sort of public funding...

Walking and cycling aren't great options for a city that has winter for half the year.

Only if you don't make them a priority. There are plenty of cold weather cities where people walk and cycle year-round because the infrastructure is in place for them to do so, and snow clearing is a priority. The city has basically discouraged walking in the past with its snow clearing policy that saw roads get plowed after 3 cm of accumulation, but sidewalks had to wait until 5 cm (I believe this is under review). Also, winter half the year is an exaggeration. Sure, some years the first snowfall is in November and it sticks around until early April, but it's also common to not see any accumulated snow until December and/or for it to mostly be gone by mid-to-late March.

It goes back to my shout louder to try to prove that your argument is correct.   I'm more of a guy who takes interest in discussions that have a bit of common sense with them.    Common sense would dictate that most people would not find it normal to drive 30 minutes when with synchronized lights and proper traffic flow the same stretch can be done in 5 minutes.

And the engineering study said that allowing pedestrians would have a relatively minor impact on traffic, but you seem to think you are smarter than the experts.

If you want to bring common sense into the equation, would common sense also say that in a major urban centre, we should ignore efficient modes of transportation like walking and cycling and prioritize private automobiles, which are infinitely more expensive at both the personal (ownership, maintenance, fuel) and public (infrastructure) levels?

Would common sense say that we should spend money to re-construct the barricades (after they are removed to fix the roof of Winnipeg Square) in order to save rush hour commuters a couple of minutes (if that)? Remember, 85% of the time on weekdays and 100% of the time on weekends there is no traffic congestion at that intersection at all, so why would we close it to pedestrians 100% of the time?

In regards to traffic light synchronization, the city will adjust the lights as best they can, but it isn't like two freeways are intersecting and that intersection is the only hang-up. I've almost never turned left from Portage on to Main without subsequently having to stop at McDermot. Same with turning right and then stopping at Pioneer. Synchronization is easy when you only have to prioritize traffic on one street. Throw in a second major route and everyone trying to use the network at once and it won't be perfect. You might *gasp* have to wait a bit.

suggesting that their is an issue with handicap people crossing the intersection

That's not a suggestion, it's a 100% verified fact. Whether that matters to you is a separate issue.

People won't get hit by cars , however it will 100% slow down traffic flow and for me that alone is enough reason to leave it.

And this is exactly why city planning shouldn't be left to plebiscites. Despite everything we know about city planning (and the professionals we have hired to do it) that tells us we need to promote density in the urban core and prioritize multiple modes of transportation (especially active transportation), there are still a lot of people who think it's their God-given right to bomb through any area of the city they want at any time of the day in their personal vehicle. And if they face any congestion whatsoever, the system is broken and something should be done to accommodate them.

God forbid the Brandon's of the world would have to look internally at the choices they've made of where to live, work, and educate their children and realize that distance equals time.

Minimum salary AAF: $75,000 USD, which translates to about $97,000 CAD

    Minimum salary CFL: $54,000 CAD

Even though the AAF is unproven, you can't blame players for seeking employment elsewhere where the pay is almost 80% more. It'll be interesting to see how the existence of the AAF will impact the upcoming CBA negotiations between CFL/CFLPA for the 2019 season.

This is why any new money added to the salary cap should be spent on raising the minimum salary. Since the last deal most of it has likely gone to Canadians and quarterbacks, which isn't going to help recruit talent from down south.

Bowman got 2 to 1 lead on Jenny according to recent poll.

    WTF!

Not surprising at all. She's a no-namer and he's a centrist incumbent who hasn't burned the city down. Browaty would've maybe made it a race, but he's probably got his eyes on a CPC nomination next year.
