hooo boy....I never read the comics but Teletoon actually aired the show in the adult programming block I think they paired it up with The Head (this was before the Unleashed block was a thing) I revisited the show a few years back and well let's just say I should've gone to bed after watching the Simpsons (I mean the Head was safer compared to the Maxx I also tried to revisit the former)

Nah the ring leaders are the people who have minions steal tools, metal, and big ticket items. Porch pirates are usually just the typical scum trying to feed a drug habit. I know a few known thieves in this end of town live in the area and some are blatant enough to drive around with a bike and a cart and just load things up on a dailiy basis. They get arrested and released on a frequent basis, rinse and repeat.
