  1. Past hour
  2. Are you argueing that BC has done better on not overpaying than us? I'd say the Rourke, Betts, Hatcher etc deals, being 300k over the cap in 2024 and how cheap they have gone at many spots on D says otherwise. I agree we've done poorly in this area but I don't think BC has done better.
  3. Yes. Exactly. One, Two, Three, Four! Everybody's talking about Bagism, Shagism, Dragism, Madism, Ragism, Tagism This-ism, that-ism, ism ism ism All we are saying is give Jake a chance
  4. Winnipeg is more affordable for a cfl player than Vancouver tho. The money goes farther here. Honestly I’d avoid bc Toronto and Montreal if I was a player coming up to play in Canada or even grew up here. Not every player tho wants to play in his hometown. Dude is off in Detroit which is closer to Winnipeg than Vancouver right now.
  5. Pat Riley, Phil Jackson, Rick Carlisle, Steve Kerr are all guys who are or were great NBA coaches who were also journeyman pros. All we are saying is give Jake a chance.
  6. Of course, I'm not saying that. BC got rid of Adams as soon as they could & dropped Awe to afford Sankey. They gave Rourke a bunch O marketing money to make his contract work, which was absolutely brilliant. Teams can 'overspend' on single players maybe even 2, but when they 'overspend' on more than that, especially at the QB spot, the highest paid player, then they run into SMS issues.
  7. Every coach in hockey pretty much. Most offensive coordinators were bad QBs. I mean the list is quite long in reality. Kellen Moore has the saints rolling. Dude who couldn’t make it in the cfl is the commanders OC. Kliff kingsbury. I mean. There’s a bunch man. In every sport on the planet. there’s more examples of great players failing as coaches. Wayne Gretzky immediately comes to mind. Deion sanders also cuz Colorado sucks. All the basketball coaches are former average players and despite the bias, Jake played pro football for 13 years longer than you did. And here’s a big thing, he’s respected around the league by his peers and teammates. That says something. Fans can **** on players but those guys who played with him and beside him and against him, they don’t and that means more than people online who will always find something to complain about. Dude bled blue n gold for 13 years. At what point do you show him any form of respect for destroying his body for our entertainment. im fine with Jake as DL coach. im not sure why they brought hogan back tho. I mean does Brady need a coach. Not really. So could have saved some $$$ there. Awkward.
  8. Good news about the coaching ranks.
  9. I'm just really hoping the BB's find a few diamonds in the rough this coming season especially when it comes to our D and O lines and TC is heavily competitive earn your spot at all positions approach.
  10. not all wins are created equal though. When you lose the ship, it’s like being graded on a bell curve and getting a good grade greatly reduced. History has seen plenty of people with winning records get canned. The worst job security in football is being on the wrong side of a great era. When a great team slides down a bit, the seats get real hot real fast. The raptors had multiple great cases like that. Firing the president who brought a ship, the coach who won it, right after firing the coach of the year. Football is more cut throat than most sports for teams who build high expectations. The much shorter season makes each L a bigger deal.
  11. it is for americans. Not really for Canadians but yeah. any one who gets that from the nfl generally takes it. christo bilukidi, boy we had some drafts back then eh lol
  12. Where this team has been more often than not.
  13. Today
  14. I'm just spit-balling here, but maybe the Bombers had limited options to fill the coaching roles due to the operations cap. Not alot of money left for top level position coaches when Walters and O'Shea prolly got raises with their extentions.
  15. almost every qb turned successful hc failed as a player. That’s the single strongest pipeline of coaches/offensive minds. For hogan being back, 🤢. Not super surprised but disappointed. Very happy jake is retiring. For him becoming the dl coach, I see more positives than negatives. On one hand, He isn’t the type of guy i’d go to normally for a dl coach. Interior lunch bucket type guy. But, he has played beside a ton of great dl. And he’s played roles that was supposed to enable them to do their job better. If he’s soaked up the tech from guys like roh, patterson, etc then he will be in a great position. There is an incredible amount of resources to coach the nuances of pass rushing and run stopping. We’ve come a very long way from the days of reading the chapter on dl play from buddy ryan’s book. If jake doesn’t have a lock on that side he can easily get it if he wants to succeed. As a player I never really saw it from him, but he did have a ton of motor (when he could actually move lol. Our dl coaching hasn’t shined in a very long time. The addition by subtraction of jake leaving the field is huge. A change at coaching the position will likely yield at least a bit of an improvement in that area.
  16. salary cap increases of a significant amount is extremely rare. I would not be banking on another increase before the next cba/tv deal. I don’t think other teams have had as high a rate of over paying guys when they resign. We also gamble on guys like kramdi and lawson when it comes to extensions. We do so hoping that we pay a bit more the first year then save money after that and have an easier time on the following contract. Bc is certainly the team who has over paid other teams free agents the most in the doman era. Them and edmonton who are constantly trying to fix bad teams in free agency. Right now, every one seems to be using the increased cap space to front load deals and over pay guys who resign. At this point, I don’t think guys who go to free agency will do early as well as the guys who lock in before the end of this year.
  17. On the plus side, we don't have to argue/***** about Jake starting. I'm more upset Hogan stays unless its a money thing.
  18. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Complaining we can't keep guys because they over spent in free agency or keeping our own guys and complaining about lack of splash free agent signings. Bottom line there's no right or wrong, the only judgements are in the win column.
  19. Look at it this way.... Jake Thomas didn't get to the CFL from his god-given natural ability so presumably he was very receptive to coaching along the way. Now maybe all those lessons he learned are things he can pass along. Or maybe the hate brigade is right and he will be terrible. It remains to be seen, i just know that retirement into coaching isn't an out of left field thing for players like Jake Thomas.
  20. it's probably pretty common honestly.
  21. Jake should be great at showing rookies what not to do.
  22. We don't pay anyone, which is why we are over the cap. Being over the cap is also why we can't afford any FA even though we wouldn't sign them anyways. This forum has gone bananas!! Up is left, down is wrong, wrong is purple and the only thing left to do is complain about absolutely everything!!!
  23. dinwiddie I'm blown away by the uproar over a couple positional coaches lol. Here's a hint guys...they don't really have that big of an impact on players abilities. Scheme and drills baby. Thomas isn't going to turn Lawson into the next Doug Brown and he isn't going to help re-invent Jefferson...but here's the thing...no one is. Hogan isn't the reason BO is a freak of nature and he won't hold him back either. ****** relax boys
  24. Thomas has true grit and staying power and was clearly the reason he hung around so long...He certainly wasn't the most talented at his position BUT maybe he can translate some of that desire and grit into some of our younger more talented D line players....It could be what some of them need to put them into a highly successful future ...We'll see ....I say give JT a shot ......
