  1. Past hour
  2. well here's one I don't get to post often enough
  3. Kovalchuk has been dxpunged. All the Atlanta guys have which makes sense if the Jets want their records back. I'd love to see Teemu here if he can still play. Nikolai Khabibulin, Teppo Numinen & Tie Domi would be great if they can still physically play.
  4. You gave it your best shot, you little couch potato. It's a pipe dream, not a career. He's made zero cents. We'll see how he does in the UFL as I expect that's where he goes. If I was Waltwrs, I'd tell him to come up here & offer an extra $40,000 at him in marketing money to make his salary $125,000 Canadian. At least give an incentive to come & sign a contract.
  5. Regardless. It makes no sense. But no I didn’t. I dunno @iHeartill give you props for being a good fan but sometimes you are a little off. It’s all good tho. I appreciate the fandom. Maybe they ask Nyquist to play and he finally scores a goal. ask Ilya kovakchuk tho. That would be cool.
  6. did you miss the sarcasm part?
  7. Today
  8. Let’s pretend you are 23 and a QB and you’re trying to live your dream cuz that’s what this is. A kid trying to live his dream. Now try again.
  9. Unless picking first, he’s not going to be a Jet.
  10. Why would Helle play in an alumni game. Prob Chris mason and or hutch cuz 1 lives here and 1 not far from here. Pav is in Europe. 7 announced tho Buff. Thorbs. Perreault. Ladd. Little. Wheeler. Stastny. id hope for Toby and slater. I’d maybe ask teemu and maybe tkachuk if he’s not morbidly obese. Mark stuart also but he’s an asst coach in the league
  11. Exactly my childish point. He hasn't thrown one pass that meant anything in the NFL during the regular season & never will.
  12. Have the current commish prove this wrong because I think he would twist himself into a pretzel trying to do so.
  13. Life changing money? You're talking like Elgersma has a chance to actually make it down there. When was the last time a Canadian qb who played U Sports started for any NFL team? This is now Year 2 for him & as Mike calls it, his NFL "career". I don't see much difference between Year 1 & Year 2. As Booch says, other than a training camp per diem last year, he's made nothing.
  14. all true. it would also be expensive and complicated to get the rights to advertise stuff like that from other leagues. It could also come off very poorly if not done well. and the league hasn’t done a great job at any thing marketing wise in ages.
  15. What career, Mike? He has no "career". He's can't get past the first interview. That's like saying he wants to be a lawyer but can't pass the bar exam. As far as relevance goes, then why doesn't Rich shut this place down? None of us including you have any relevance.
  16. Yesterday
  17. is it October yet? is Helle going to be in net or are they bringing in Pav and....would be nice to see Mason too (I'm being sarcastic about the Helle part)
  18. That would require the cfl to actually market the league and that is something they refuse to do. Basically the cfl is Winnipeg. We are a bunch of small little cities combined into one. People in st Boniface aren’t the same as people in fort Gary. It’s up to fort gary to promote itself. Just like in the cfl it’s up to wade and crew to promote the bombers, there’s nothing they can do to help Toronto or Edmonton. It’s a crazy cycle. CFL needs to do more. They basically do minimum
  19. Would we not want to market the poop out of this especially geared at the 18 year old - 45 year old NFL followers? My 21 year old son who played and loves football quickly got drawn toward the NFL with the Birds being his favorite team. What am I missing here? Losing cause, it won't work, no market, what?
  20. Yeah the quality is very comparable....The top 10..15 percent of the NFL roster player is elite and just the best of best...after that the quality of player os comparable and in many case inferior to top CFL players....but the politics of the NFL play a big role in that
  21. I've seen a bunch of players and coaches in the NFL say that the talent gap between the NFL and the CFL is not huge. We don't have the top-tier outliers, and don't keep them when we find them, but average imp starter to starter it is way closer than people realize. The consistency of players, coaches, and systems here is too much for the UFL to overcome. Even though we see a lot of turn over with in the league each year, its still a lot of guys staying in the league and with similar systems. The top tier in the UFL is very good. The problem is that below that, it drops off a massive cliff.
  22. I think a lot of CFL fans don't realize that the CFL is viewed as league with a very high level of play by the NFL. It's a league where guys who have slipped through the cracks can get a legit 2nd chance. The UFL just isn't at that level of play because they are usually a rag tag bunch of whoever will show up so it's just really ugly football.
  23. Yep, and if they aren't going to play him, or develop him while on the bench, he can bail. That is the hidden story behind all the fledgling leagues—Guys living in cars, surviving on a tub of PB and a loaf of bread. When you pull that rug out from under them, they don't have any fail-safes to catch them. A lot of guys in indy ball living the same life. In the past, the minor leagues had them too. Though it's better now. At the end of the day, the NFL understands that they don't have much of a clue what separates booms from busts or how to develop talent reliably. So they bury it down and rely on the sheer number of kids flowing into the NCAA to supply them. Thats why you don't see scouts/GMs fired for awful bust picks. Some teams have some positions figured out, within the constraints of their system. But none of them have QB or OT figured out like that.
  24. Its more political than anything...Also think they spend these big bucks but they actually penny pinchers and wont invest much money into "possible development" or "possible potential" They see early, and fast if a player is just not worth the money to develop and would rather someone else do it for them..be it a different team or revisit a guy that came to Canada a few yrs down the road
  25. All of that, coming up mid-way through last year, would've been great for him. Could've still looked at the NFL window this year for camp invites. The NFL wants to see guys like that produce in the pros, like Stiggers and Alford. They will kick the tires and use you in camp/ps, but breaking into the AR is very different. Even Rourke didn't do enough up here and in camp/ps down there to lock in a spot. And he really earned it. If Elgersma is really smart, he is using this as an opportunity to accelerate his growth and speed up his adjustment to higher levels of play.
  26. Forsure, I was just pointing out that if he wants to make bank right now...that's his best option. It will also give him some film for NFL teams. I'm not saying it will lead to an NFL roster spot...but maybe PR? Either way, I fully believe the rookie cap is why he isn't currently a Blue Bomber.
  27. I would sign UFL as well. Players can opt out of their contracts for any other league anyway,
