  1. Past hour
  2. That depends whether he is under contract for next year or not. If he is it is odd they haven't fired him before looking to interview other people. If he is not then there is nothing unprofessional about it at all. They need not make any statement on any coach on an expiring contract. Should they do it anyway though? I would if I were leading the organization...but that's just my opinion.
  3. World-famous brewing institution leaving U.S. for Canada A renowned American beer brewing school is heading north and getting ready to settle in at a new address in Montreal. Since 1872, the famed Siebel Institute of Technology has taught generations of beer brewers the fine art and science of the craft in Chicago. But in a statement on social media, the school says it has chosen to relocate to Canada, pointing to policies enacted under the Trump administration for its decision. https://www.ctvnews.ca/business/article/world-famous-brewing-institution-leaving-us-for-canada/
  4. There isn't a lot of CFL opinion that's worth reading. Tait is good, although only for one team. Costabile on cfl.ca is decent, but the rest of that site is slim pickings. The only other writer who comes to mind Zurkowsky in Montreal.
  5. Today
  6. I am only going to say the following once because I don't want to say it again on Christmas and NYE when the next parts drop (Yes I'm referring to Stranger Things) It's just a tv show
  7. Yeah I rag on them as much as anybody but they do a better job of covering the CFL than the "real" media. They are great for news but their opinion pieces are not usually worth reading.
  8. Then quite frankly they should. There'd be hardly an CFL news, without that site.
  9. Maybe they'll flush out the **** they have now & replace them with actual journalists.
  10. Respected? We have a dozen posters here who would do as good or better than the guys at 3DN. The 2 real idiots over there are Ryan who covers the Stamps & Joel Gasson covering the Riders.
  11. This is Mike O'Shea we're talking about. How many times in the past did he give a big F U to fans & media because he was stubborn? Until it actually happens, nothiung has changed.
  12. That I agree with. A streaming deal would be amazing. I also think if the CFL eventually expands to the US they'll have to change the name at some point.
  13. I was an independent insurance adjuster living i& working in Thompson with my wife & 3 year old son (at the time). It was right around this time of the year. Maybe late November or early December of 1989. I was watching TV & switched to a weather channel similar to the one we used to have on local cable in Winnipeg. It said the ambient air temp outside was -52 Celsius. Even being from Winnipeg,I never experienced temperatures like that. So, I bundled up. went out & checked my truck. I wanted to experience what it's like at minus 50 for the first & only time in my life. Once outside, I made sure that my truck was properly plugged into my stall at our apartment block. No wind. Just silence. Felt like I was in some sort of vacuum. The sky was clear & full of stars. Silence except for the cracking of the trees around me that sounded like gunshots going off & the steam comimg out of every chimney & vent in town. As well as the squeaky crunch of the snow when I walked. My experience wasn't sublime but surreal. Felt like I was another planet. I HATE cold weather but that was a heckuva beautiful experience!
  14. So Harvard Media, which owns several media outlets in Sask and AB (including Riders broadcast partner 620 CKRM) has purchased 3 Down Nation. Not sure exactly what this means, but the press release talking about how well respected 3DNs writers are made me LOL...
  15. I don't understand the "hate" for people going South for winter and how it is related to domestic flights being expensive. I don't believe airlines are subsidizing flights to Mexico by charging more to folks wanting to travel back and forth from Calgary? The only hate should be Air Canada taking billions from our Gov't and yet still outsourcing most of the jobs and charging customers top dollar for mediocre services. Me thinks you are in a time warp and think that it is the 80's where a family could travel via car for an affordable rate while only the rich and upper class can fly to Mexico. These days it's the opposite, our family road trips that we take are extremely expensive in comparison for the value that we have when we fly to Mexico. I've encountered several people in my life who didn't understand going South for winter.... until they went one time and then realized how great it is and after going once couldn't wait until they could go back again. Many of them regretted waiting so many years until going. Leaving Winnipeg in -30 weather and arriving somewhere tropical and getting that blast of hot +25 humid air as you leave the plane is sublime.
  16. He’s done. I mean how many insiders need to say it.
  17. St. Louis would put 40k in for the cfl. I’m not sure anywhere else would tho. Canada and the US aren’t exactly bffs right now either tho so I don’t see US expansion anytime soon. What the cfl should do tho is try to get a streaming deal with apple Amazon or Netflix and go from there.
  18. I think the CFL is ready to pounce in UFL cities if the league folds. There's a lot of negativity about the league in the media down south since that billionaire bought the UFL. Got rid of GM's & scoutinmg staff. Players not making a lot of money. Older players being tossed aside for the 21 & 22 years olds as the UFL is a developmental league now. Everything is centralized now under his watchful eye. I'm sure training camps will be in the same place or close by. No community involvement at all.
  19. I’m not sure I’d have given him gm and head coach duties. This could blow up in ottawas face pretty quickly. Great coach but unknown gm. Sometimes wearing both hats backfires. Seems like in the cfl when a guy is both coach and gm, it fails. Chris Jones comes to mind in the recent era. Now if we go back 20 years it’s different but it’s not 20 years ago.
  20. I'm sure a bantam or pee wee team could use him. There's a lot of Dad coaches he can learn from.
  21. My great nephew goes to university... Rhodes College in Halifax.
  22. If Tommy Condell was hired, it would be the same thing...The run game is an afterthought with him.
  23. You can find deals though - like I said, you can fly to/from Calgary and Winnipeg for very cheap at certain times. If you are looking to go at peak times, you pay peak prices. Google Flights is a good way to look for affordable flights and you can set alerts to notify you when prices change. Halifax is beautiful but like most cities, the homeless situation makes it unappealing to explore, at least it was a couple years ago when I was there. Only other place east of Ontario, I've been was Montreal - also beautiful but was way more expensive than Halifax.
  24. He's always been like that. Stories of him being a shithead in Calgary over a decade. Hufnagel finally got rid of him.
  25. I think if anyone can afford to go on a holiday to a sunny resort anywhere then they should pay for the privelidge. We, the poor Canadians who stay home in the winter, if we want to fly in order to see family in Canada, we pay for it big time. I've never travelled anywhere in the winter. We travel in the summer. Prefer to drive over flying. In 2 years when my wife retires, we're planning a road trip to Halifax. We have family & friends in New Brunswick & Ontario. I've never beem east of Toronto. You're late!! It's mine.
  26. How is it apparent? Until an official announcement comes down the pike, nothing has changed.
  27. How so? How is it clumsy and unprofessional. What does that even mean. His contract has expired. The season is over.
