Thanks Wbb, so what we are seeing is that the Bombers QB 3rd string usage, except for QBs playing up the depth chart due to injury, is actually right on pace with the rest of the league. A couple of outliers in Walker and Morgan who both ended up in 2nd string and made starts prior to any drop back snaps so it really was more a case of a couple guys who either weren't really third string (Walker) and another who was on a team with a rash of QB injuries. Rest of the numbers are all within the same relative range as Wilson.

Sure. These are the drop-back snaps for QBs who were the QB3 overall or at some point. BC, Masoli had 91, Brice had 4. Cal, walker 66, vaughn 32, love 8 Edm, snider 0 Ham, Dole 0, powell 9 Mtl, Morgan 98, Evans 37, Dukes 2 Ott, Adams 69, Shiltz 57 Sask, Coan 9 To, Duggan 20, Horn 14 Again, Wilson had 26. Pretty bad for sure. Bellefeuille was a chunk better than hogan still imo. Wr core, bit of a push imo.

Jason Boltus... that was the lowest that I can ever remember. Guy fumbled snaps and tossed ints in his extremely limited time.

Then please compare to every other 3rd string QB, while in 3rd QB status, across the league for context. Just drop backs not SY.

According to PFF, 68 snaps last year, 28 drop-back snaps. 24 of his snaps were designed run, keeper, kneel, etc. It also lists him as having 2 "big time" throws and 3 turnover-worthy plays. In 24, he had 6 drop-backs, 24 designed runs, on 40 total snaps with 1 turnover-worthy play. I don't put any value other than crude entertainment on their own metrics, but as a fun fact, Wilson was their worst rated qb and worst-rated passer in the whole league last year. They had Wilson as a 42.2 overall and 29.9 as a passer vs strevy at 62.2 and 57.4. They only had strev as the 9th-worst passer and 15th worst qb. Which seems wildly inaccurate, and deeply depressing at the same time. Im not sure a clear downgrade exists from Hogan, strev, those wrs/ol.

He'd be an enormous upgrade over Steveler.....thats not saying much but Id kick tires.

I keep thinking about a few years back when the Riders brought in guys like Patterson/Dolegala/Fine and those guys were able to hop right in and play. They weren't running a dink and dunk 5 yard check down game either, they ran the complete O with varying levels of success and failure. It feels like the Blue haven't done anything like this in years. It's always a back up QB comes in and it's just flat.

I thought it was quite the dance show, as for the elaborate sets i think that had a lot to do with it being open air. Rhianna couldnt do her act in this stadium. It's been lip synced for decades now(NFL rules) but i found this year to be off like an old Japanese movie

Where's a stat guy when you need him. How many meaningful game speed reps has Terry Wilson been given since arriving here? I'm not suggesting anything with this question, just curious.

Wilson got reps, Wilson sucked when given them. Surprised he is still here. Hard to get your 3rd string reps when for the past two seasons we have not been in very many games that is traditional put in your 3rd string guy time. Gotta remember that Streveler also need the reps. Lotsa, he should have got reps posts but very little thought expressed as to when we could have given them.

If you watch Perkins in the UFL the offense is basically zone read or a fire drill every snap (there's tons of UFL stuff on YouTube, you can basically find every snap he took). I don't think he'll be able to do much from the pocket in the CFL. The ball doesn't move quick and he never sets his feet so the ball doesn't get anywhere on time or accurate. He's a fadeaway passer, lobs the ball. He is a complete run/scramble style QB. So he's not going to be able to function in an offense anything like the base offense we will be running around a guy like Collaros. But you could build something around him as a backup that relies on Zone Read, either hand it off, run it or chuck it up hope someone runs under it. The intermediate pass game will not exist for him at this level.

I mean, even pre-season and tc I didn't see a click moment from him. The offence was awful last year and not a lot better last year. We could really use a QB coach in camp. I hate that we don't have one. Bring in a guy like Masoli as a player-coach to sit on the IR, itd make a big difference. I'm not sold that he has poise; instead of just lacks pocket awareness. He has tons of arm talent, but man, his window is really small now. He also had 2 years in the USFL before coming here. As a qb you really have to show something after that many pro camps. (1 nfl with the cowboys, 2 usfl, 2 cfl) He had 1 good year in juco, and kicked around 3 solid programs before/after with out significant success. Basically, a pretty good HS kid, with 1 good juco year, and a lot of bouncing. That type of history, especially in a higher 3-star prospect in both juco and HS, should rise quickly. And he just hasn't. I'm good with Wilson being in camp, but he should be on thin ice. He needs to take a step forward and act fast to earn a spot. I like Perkins upside too, with him it'll all come down to how quickly he adapts to the Canadian game. He's pretty late in life for a QB coming up here. Thorne is a solid prospect, too. If the ball gets out of his hand quickly enough against pros, he could have some success. It's a bad position to be in, no back up qb with any level of productivity in the CFL. The QB market is ugly, and our QB room is one of the most challenged in the league. I thought both extended in montreal? Maybe I'm crazy. Wouldn't be the first time we took an easy recirculation type guy.

I'm talking strictly TC. In season reps is hard to count on. If they're always in close games, you're not going to put a back up in. Hindsight is 20/20 but nothing can be done about that now. Bringing in MBT or any other cast off, will only hurt the guys who are going to camp.

That's pretty much how I expect it to go down as well - ZC, Perkins, Wilson with Artopoeus or Thorne on the PR. Might get interesting if Elgersma does show up at some point though - would they stick him on the PR where he could be poached or would he bump Perkins or Wilson from the AR?

Evans and Patterson are both pending FA's and AFIK have not agreed to terms anywhere yet. They were listed at #5 & 12 on 3DN's top FA QB's so either one could be had if there was interest on our part.
