  5. Different athletes mature at differnt rates, so if the measureables are there, some may be worth a look-see.
  6. I think it's a big ask for teams to think underachievers in their 20's who couldn't excel at lower levels will suddenly do so in the CFL.
  7. I think if he has legit interior guys he may change that approach Was he compensating certain things cause of the lack of inside production...possible..guess we will see Like I mentioned before in conversation with Gavin Walls he even said it was strange and kind of pointless what we were doing on the dline at end He said he would have been none too impressed if he was schemed to do that...and it would eventually get guys disinterested almost especially when being stuck flat footed more often then not and make a guy look lazy as plays got past or outside them...be interesting to see what we are doing this yr Read my other post...
  8. For sure....It looked like he was just wandering at times and happened to throw his arms up at the right time and knocked a few passes down...He has to be used properly
  9. Younger has to figure out what he wants to do with Willie. That's the problem, I think.
  10. Betcha WJ would have got more if he went to FA Is 200k and overpay? Hard to say...can be revisited by labour day tho when we see the whole picture and what the defence is doing as a whole I want to see him tho used as a pure edge rusher and with sets overloaded with 3..4 speed guys and him inside...not do the engage at snap and pop off to survey the scene and try and guess the passing lane...that crap we had him doing is just pointless...
  11. I amended that quote & added to it since you included it. Is it an overpay for Jefferson? It's high but Willie's a veteran so he's going to get paid. But it isn't much different from last season. As I said earlier somewhere, I want to see what he does with better personnel & a "Jake Free" defensive line this coming season.
  12. Yeah....just read it on third down....Is it an overpay??....////if he can put up better sack numbers than last year he could be worth the dollars....We'll see
  13. The bump is $260,000. The salary cap is $6.3 million. With an andditional $50000 per team during training camps for veterans only. Teams now have time to work on offers fro free agents unlike last year which was a **** show under Ambrosie. Jefferson says his deal is similar to last year monetarily wise at $200,000 a year.
  14. .......We certainly don't want to be over paying for guys based on what we think the final money will be ...At the same time we have to secure players we feel are of value....Jefferson being one of them....As for the new signing, someone in our management must have thought he is worth the coin///we'll see
  15. Well, let this Louisiana-Munroe know he might be a flight risk if something better comes along. The guy can't be trusted to stay loyal past 5 minutes.
  16. Ergo the extreme importance of who we have in all of our coaching positions. Work your magic on these guys.
  17. it’s pretty common in the cfl now to bring guys like this into camp. underachieving 4star or higher guys. If they adjust in camp to the canadian game it’s a very good chance you have a high end contributor. if they don’t they are easy cuts. The raw talent and athleticism helps raise the bar in drills for camp as well
  18. If Khris Bogle has never been a regular starter in 4 years of college & hasn't lived up to expectations or potential then why should we believe that somehow a light bulb in his head is suddenly going to go off & he all of a sudden gets it? Generally by now at his age, a player either has it or he doesn't.
  19. Bogle is an interesting one. Highly recruited, unanimous 4-star recruit out of HS. Played a couple of years at Florida, then moved to Michigan State. Never became a regular starter or lived up to his potential out of HS. Very good athleticism and build, stronger than his weight would suggest, he's extremely lean, twitchy, good get off, has an excellent spin move, and a good motor. Boyd is similar. Polished, good frame that could hold more weight, excellent top-end speed, 3-star kid with polish who struggled to find a spot till his last year. Battle is pretty much the opposite. Instantly stepped in and started at the corner for NC state. tremendous size, mediocre measurables, but his speed plays better on the field than it tests. Quick twitchy, explosive type. Physical, very aggressive press corner type. Struggled more in zone, but his aggression is also going to be tough in man cover. Could be penalty-prone in any pro league. I think his wheels play much better in the CFL, and his fit could be good with JYs system if he can adjust. Played a ton of snaps, like 2400. If he can reign in his aggression and fit in with the system, he could be a very high-floor guy. Mayes has an interesting build for a wr, almost closer to a rbs build. Doesn't have great measurables, but a good track and basketball guy in Hs. Looks to have good hands. His qb, Ridder, was on our NL for a good while. They've seen a lot of him. He's got good polish, shifty runner. Whenever I see guys at WR in that 6' and under, 200 and under range, I wonder if they have been over looked alot for not jumping off the stat sheet, or if they are an overachiever. Mayes hands and polish make me think he's the overlooked type. I wonder if they view him as a slot back. If he can master the waggle, he could go far up here, very quickly.
  20. Glad we are once again free of jones, for a year atleast.
  21. What a waste of money. Just throw a hundred grand at some random qb & gift them a spot on the PR??? What about the other players already there?? The CFL is already signing UFL qbs. We have the UFL MVP. And people lose their minds when we sign Jefferson for what they think is too much money???

  23. Someone takes sci fi much too seriously. Our average lifespan won't go from 82 years of age for men to 95 or 100 in a decade. Not even in a century. Queeen once wrote & sang a Freedie Mercury composition, "Who Wants To Live Forever?" The Earth is already overcrowded. That's all we need is for humans to live forever. Even another 5-10 years into our 90's. We'd have geo poloicial issues. Water shortages & famine. Countries actually going to war & fighting instead of just threatening over resources.
  24. Yeah, have teams carry a 4th quarterback on the non game roster and pay them at least 100k. It will allow new guys a bit of time to develop instead of the constant re-signing of QBs when one gets hurt. 100k won't attract guys that would sign in the NFL but it may bring in guys that might otherwise sign with the UFL.
  25. As long as its not us. Even throwing on a Winnipeg Blue Bomber jersey would not expel the stink on how he plays.
