  2. no **** sherlock....tell me something I dont know....but 22 to 19 is hardly a nucleus.....I stand by what I said tho...He favouts an inferior Canadian a lot when he could play a better american and not effect ratio 2ND yr and beyond Americans can pass on the same knowledge....and so can coaches and in all reality...the really good Canadians are for most part U.S highschool prep guys, and NCAA trained collegiately, so this knowledge transfer is kind of a mute point Good football players..athletically and amateur trained are just good players...fan of stability too has it's range and limits....hasnt panned out to well last 3 yrs when it mattered.....Argo's bring in new guys yearly...and in the time Osh has been HC here have won more cups than us...and handed our ass to us in last with all our "stability"
  3. So many forfeits in AAAA league last year. The tiering model is so broken. Forced every AAAA school up into top league because everyone was trying to avoid being in same league with OP, St Paul's, Dakota. Nobody wants to lose by 70. It was a lot better when the big schools didn't have JV teams but a top division team and a lower division team instead. In that era when I played and then coached, never heard of a forfeit. Now it's like 6 a season because teams literally get destroyed playing these monster South Winnipeg programs.
  4. I'll take Argos suck for 200 Alex. Oh and thanks for the reminder Debbie. 🙂
  5. I'm just telling you what sport executives, professional athletes say on a day to day basis, sport is business.
  6. Heads Up: He's not. We just allowed shitty QBs to beat us in back to back years. Woof.
  7. It's different, in most businesses the employee lives with their family, in professional sports the players often live far away from their family and support networks. Team full of young transient single dudes is going to behave much differently than a well established team loaded with married guys that already have kids.
  8. Absolutely they do. Everyone in the city with stable coaches does. Rule is kids are locked in where they go to school for Grade 10 unless they move residence to a different catchment. Otherwise if they change schools, have to sit out a year/go through an appeal process that rarely rules in favour of the athlete before they can play any sport at the new school. Those top 3 Winnipeg schools in LRSD and PTSD (Dakota, OP, Vincent Massey) have more kids outside of catchment than inside on their football team. By a lot. Kids at schools without football can't transfer out after the start of their Grade 10 year either to play football at a new school. Wade Miller is really pushing more of a co-op model to allow more schools to participate...which in MHSAA is only allowed for very small schools...and dilute the pool of players for Dakota, OP, Vincent Massey. WHSFL makes it's own rules through Winnipeg School Division so it is possible to do something different than MHSAA would say for other sports. Manitoba is very weird in how our high school sports are structured and really discourage any hope of participating in a sport that doesn't exist at your school.....especially when basically all our team sports run the top programs through high schools, and outside of the city high schools are really the only way you can do anything but hockey. All the rules slow down recruiting, but also encourage kids to go to the super schools for their sport rather than stay and build competitive programs in their area of the city. Most other provinces have spring club leagues that take on that role and let kids play at closest available school to their home.
  9. Let's see if Arbuckle has any signs of a Grey Cup hangover. Let's see if this guy is actually for real.
  10. And that's what I think would exactly happen to me if our paths somehow crossed at a gym knowing how I can sometimes test people's sense of ha ha in very spontaneous ways. 🙂
  11. I get what you're saying but we are told ad nauseum that professional sport is business and in the business world the literature, the major thought leaders stress to stop running your organizations like you're family with one another because that's not how high performing organizations effectively run.
  12. Today
  13. If you're a good football player or a good athlete with potential and you live in LRSD, it seems you end up at Dakota. Whether they blatantly recruit, don't know.
  14. And I just checked, lost on the finals to the other league super team! Dakota!
  15. Everyone has a shelf life for sure. Wolitarsky's salary was not bad though. Our depth of Canadians on O is pretty bleak so even if we got 9-10 games out of him would have been worth it IMO. We're Nic Demski waking up with a stiff neck away from starting a 2025 5th round pick at slot.
  16. Like it or not Canadian players form the nucleus of most teams, they are the continuous thread that passes on knowledge of the game and team culture to new arrivals year after year. The good ones are hard to find, but once a team signs them they tend to hold onto them as long as possible, even if they only play ST. Americans players come and go as they're a more common commodity, most last 2-3 years before being replaced or moving on to other teams. There are exceptions like Willie, Stan and Biggie who recognize the benefit of staying in one place and take advantage of the opportunity to bond with the community, but most Imports don't ever achieve that status. O'Shea is a fan of stability, so he tends to hold onto all of his players longer than most and create a family atmosphere that actually includes families, it's difficult to view that practice as being a negative.
  17. Same as any other sport in that age range up.
  18. You'd be surprised by the ego of youth football coaches/parents.
  19. Cause as much as many don't wanna agree or believe it....Osh favors the Canadian player....and a lot of time it's not for the better of the team...but it butter's his own bun just fine tho
  20. and dark socks halfway up the calves with shorts....I see someone doing that I wanna kick em in the face....there's a lot of people I wanna kick in the face....particularly in the gym
