Taynted_Fayth had a good idea.

We need a good LHD and I think a player like Swedish born Jonas Brodin from the Wild is what we are looking for. He turns 23 this July and averaged over 22 minutes a game this season. He is the right age and his career is headed in the right direction. He played well in the post-season. We have enough pointgetters on our D, let's get a defensively savvy LHD to pair up with Buff or Trouba or Myers. He is signed for 4.17m per year for 5 more years and would be expensive to get.

Lemieux, Hutch, Lowry and 22nd overall for Brodin and Minny's 2nd round pick in this year's draft. Is that enough or do we add Burmi or Chiarot?

 

If you are referring to me, I don't have a hate on for him. I just think he is our 3rd best RHD and should have been traded for a LHD. Now, Trouba wants a trade so I am happy with keeping Myers as our 2RHD. You have a hate on for Enstrom though and he is our 1LHD! Without him our LHD looks like Chiarot, Stuart, Morrissey.

Morrissey will make the team but Stu shouldn't be on it and Chiarot is a good 7th D man.

If Enstrom is our 1LHD (I hate these stupid terms) then that's why we won't make the playoffs again this year.  We need to get better at that spot.  A lot better.

Toby had a good year last season. Best since season one. Best of a bad lot. +8(tied with Wheels/Copp for 2nd) not bad for a defensive d-man which is what he is now.

You don't do that by trading your best player at that position.

We need to upgrade our D depth. There isn't much in the cupboard after Morrissey in the near future.

We can agree on the fact that we need to upgrade our D depth.  If Enstrom is the best player at his position then we have a serious problem, as he is just plain not good enough to be in that position.

He is our 3rd or 4th best D man but for sure our best LHD.

Depends what you want from your D men. If we are talking who our best defensive d man is... Enstrom is probably number 1. If talking about overall he's behind buff for sure and Myers I guess. 

one guy's hate for Myers and another's for Enstrom, are both equally silly. Both players are really important keys to Jets success this season. Very good players that pretty much any team in the league would want...

Except I don't hate Myers. I take him for what he is. A smooth skating BIG D man that doesn't have a high hockey IQ and plays way too soft.

Streit, MDZ (re-signed), Hagg for Trouba (re-signed) and Lemieux.

Streit (for one year) MDZ and Enstrom as our starting LHD. MDZ re-signed for four years for a 2LHD would be nice. Hagg is going to play in the NHL in a couple years.

Philly drops close to 10m in salary so they have room to pay Trouba and Lemieux.

Streit is gone in a year and Enstrom in two. Morrissey slides over to the left side and Hagg starts in two.

Good god. Trouba is worth more than that by himself.  Stop withthe fantasy trades or at least try to put some thought in it. With Philly .... unless sanheim or Provorov is involved nope and Lemieux ain't going anywhere yet if ever. Jets very high on him.

He actually clears the zone as good as any D man on the team. He doesn't win many battles in the corners though.

I had a dream last night that the Jets traded Trouba to Buffalo in something like a 12-14 player trade.  Oddly, it seemed they ended up with Krug so maybe it was a three team deal.  But leaving Winnipeg was Trouba, Lemieux, Armia, a minor league goalie who's name I cant remember (Phillips?) and I think Burmi for a package that included almost no one I had heard of.  And everyone was angry.  Then I woke up mad.

I'm not sure how bad I want Krug in a Jets uniform. He'd help our pp, but he's a train wreck defensively. I wouldn't want him playing big minutes outside of the pp.

No. We need a good d man. Whether he be good offensively or defensively is irrelevant.  Krug doesn't interest me at all tho. Plus the Krug stuff started with Eklund so that guarantees it doesn't happen

So let's just pretend Ottawa offered Erik Karlsson for Trouba?  You'd turn that down cuz we need a good defensive d man? I don't think so. The best D is a good O. 

The more this Lindholm in Anaheim stuff drags on I think it's more likely a trouba plus petan type for Lindholm deal seems likely.

Maybe it's a coaching problem cuz it seems like that's been the issue regardless of who is in goal.

Definitely the possibility is there to make something happen with Anaheim.   They have almost enough cap space now to sign him but haven't.  So that still tells you something.  If they can bring in Trouba and sign him, it certainly helps their "win now" mentality and keeps them young.  Jets likely have to take back a salary to help Ducks out but Jets can afford to...
