Game 57 : Airport 75 @ Lightning

The story so far...

When an on-ice collision incapacitates the coaches of a hockey team bound for Tampa, puck bunny Nancy is forced to take over the controls. From the pressbox, her husband, injured defenseman Mark, tries to talk her through preparing and coaching the team. Worse yet, the anxious fans -- among which are a noisy, unknown poster and a cranky ex-goalie  -- are aggravating the already tense atmosphere.

Also starring...

Ondrej Pavelec as the goaltender

Andrew Ladd as the Captain without a contract

  • I thought the quite opposite, thought it was a great show of leadership by the coach. Really no different than Wheeler dropping the mitts.

  • Just saw the events leading up the ejection. Extraordinary. Little was smashed when he was in a vulnerable position. Everybody saw it. That's why a guy like Wheeler went straight after Stralman.

  • A better showing by Pavs and this is a win. No OT needed. Ladd and Armia and Buff and Trouba had strong games. You can finish 3rd last and still not pick until 6th but I'd love to see a 30th

any updates on the status of Little (only asking as he is a vital cog in my losing hockey pool team this year)...

How does Stralman not even get a hearing? **** Bettman.

So bizarre... Komarov gets three games for a fairly similar head shot...  Stafford gets one game for not controlling his stick...

Little was smashed when he was in a vulnerable position. Everybody saw it. That's why a guy like Wheeler went straight after Stralman. You can't have that kind of BS. And yet the NHL won't even talk to him? Strange. Makes me wonder the reaction from the NHL  had it been Myers or Buff on the giving end of that hit.

And Paul Maurice? Appropriate reaction? You bet. When the explanation doesn't fit the offence, you get mad. Paul Maurice got mad. And he got a bench penalty. And he got stared down...by a ref...who had no business goading a man he already knew was upset.

Totally handled wrong from the get-go.

How about the refs getting a 'talking to' over this matter?

Jets get the shaft ... again.

I liked Beyak and Hnidy's commentary on it.  Yes a bit of homerism but not much.  Those refs were a freaking joke.  I hope the fans remember them the next time they do a game in Winnipeg.  It's Murray Clarke all over again.

Little is day to day and doesn't sound too serious. Perreault moves up to 1C which shows how valuable he is as a player who can play any position.

I don't like to see anyone injured but not having one of our best players available for a game is not bad for the Jet's tanking quest ;)
