Paying up: Ottawa vs. Winnipeg

I remember the ridicule on this forum as so many critiicized GM Desjardins personnel decisions.

He drafted Glenn then outbid us on Burris .... he went out & acquired talent for him ... your QB doesn't have a record breaking career year without that

We paid up for Westerman but we didn't do what it takes to get players like Muamba and Chris Williams

or Collaros or Burris or further back Mike Reilly and so many others .... neither Montreal nor Ottawa has been shy about acquiring veteran receivers or others

Teams are built on stars and leaders .... the middle class of players don't make a lot of difference, they usually live up to what is around them

What would Ricky Ray in a BB uniform mean for us this year? More than Picard? As much as Burris?

Of course acquiring one big signing per year isn't enough to hold a self-congratulatory fiesta but we seem to do exactly that every year with the exception of Mack's "everything from within" era.

So do we:

1.  lack the will to get the job done (building a champion)?

2.  lack the football IQ to recognize what it takes?

3. care enough about a championship to make it an all out priority?

And who is really responsible for answering these 3 questions, who is the one who really controls the purse strings? And is this person a genuine leader?

Do we have anybody in our org that has what it takes?

I was wrong about Marcel Desjardens. He did a great job this year. All the bad stuff I said about him was wrong.

People seem to have difficulty when other teams have an element of success. Good job Ottawa. They really raided National from the Bombers pool. James Green and Kohlert a FA that they likely weren't going to sign anyway. They did a huge upgrade on their WRs , a group of players the Bombers could have gone after and didn't.

lol. :lol::D:lol:

If spoken, should be with a robot voice.

Or a heavily slurred one.....

They did go after Jackson he choose Ottawa

Other teams had Quarteracks go down....and didn't go 5-13

Don't even try. That's the Big Excuse for the Positrons on this site & the media. "What could have been.... What could have been..."  Bleh. Just wait till next year when we're the same.

Who's trying?

LOL!

I would disagree. Right tackle was a problem, but so was the center, left guard and even left tackle more than it should have been, given Bryant's resume. Even left guard was unsettled a fair bit.

The offensive line is only as good as its weak link and can only become good if they get to play together for lengthy periods of time. This isnt a hockey line where you throw 3 wingers together and voila, magic. They have to learn each others tendencies, each others problems and how they react to things. Constantly having to swap out pieces crushes continuality and that next to skill is the biggest problemon an oline imo.

So they being essentially set at national players did nothing to make their improvements easier huh.

The draft had them setup better then us at a lot of spots tbh. We were in a terrible way depth wise canadian and americsn.

Scheme... more specifically MB was the biggest problem. Same **** happened when he was OC in Montreal.... exact same thing... he was fired and the year later... oline gave up less than half of the sacks they did with MB calling the plays.... sorry... that's not coincidence and I'd bet next year bombers give up way less sacks too with MB gone

Who's trying?

Well, there were a bunch of them in Toronto last Friday who weren't.

Maybe we have a team that we deserve. People talk about bombers being mentally weak.. think several on here are too... lots give up after the other team scores a TD or is up by 3 points. One of the reasons game day Chat was do unbearable was because of people who would give up the second the other team scored.... so annoying reading the same old crap. This place gonna be a ghost town soon and it's not cuz football is over or people don't care about the team... it's cuz there really is only so much ridiculousness s person can stand. Hope the off season allows people to reevaluate the reasons they are a fan and what that means to them instead of just repeating the same old crap over and over.

hardly an exclusive Bomber fan trait.

I don't give a **** about fans of other teams... this is a bomber fan forum... people need to ask themselves over the off season what that means to them... and no I don't think always being positive Is a good thing but I also don't think repeating the same **** over and over helps either. There's got to be a happy medium point somewhere. Some need to find it.

Well, I don't begrudge Ottawa's or Edmonton's success.......just want our team to accomplish something....one of these years....
