What should we do with them?

Is signing them to a bad contract worse than not signing either and losing them for nothing?

What term and how much should they be paid?

If we sign only one, which should it be?

If we trade one, what should we be looking to get back?? A LHD??

 

Buff  AAV - 5.2m   Actual salary - 6m

Ladd AAV - 4.4m  Actual salary - 4.5m

 

I'd like to see them both signed but I think Ladd is easier to replace; however, what does trading do or say to your team?

Neither should get more than a 6 year term in my opinion.

I wouldn't go higher than 6.25 for Ladd or 7 for Buff.

It'd be nice to get young NHL ready or almost ready defenseman in a deal including Ladd but I think he re-signs. Lawless asked him a question and he basically said he knew if he hadn't re-signed by the TD, he'd be traded.

Someone like Theodore or Juulsen or Mueller or Fleury or Sanheim.

 

You will get no NHL ready or top line talent for either one , best case is 1st round and low prospect for each if traded

Ladd also said he wanted to be in Winnipeg and wanted to be in Winnipeg long term. 

As we get closer to the deadline both sides will compromise and a deal will be made. 

Guaranteed a first and almost ready if not ready prospect for both. Guaranteed.

Agreed. Ladd will sign. Buff will be dealt for a first and LHD prospect 

Ladd's totally signable now considering the year he is having. Grab anything over 4 Andy!

They say he asked for it in November....

Hard to see Yzerman giving up that much future, especially if Buff isn't re-signed.

If Buff leaves, I can see Florida making a play for him in UFA but maybe not so much at TD.

Tampa has to smart here. Guys want out. So be it. They can restock the cupboard if they trade wisely. Letting Stamkos go to UFA wouldn't be wise. 

I'd rather give them a LWer like say.................LADD in the deal.

Koekkoek coming back would be nice..........Ladd + ?? for Koekkoek and Drouin?

 

 

 

The word seems to be Drouin is not a good locker room guy. Whatever that implies.  But he's 20.  I would suspect the Jets would be in those talks. 

if they turn Ladd, Buff and some other spare parts into Drouin and Hamonic Id give Chevy a ten year extension.  

Need to come to the conclusion that Ladd will sign a new deal with the Jets.

Is this self-affirmation?  A request?  Command?  New years resolution?

From all accounts he's the guy they are working on signing. From all accounts they haven't even talkedto Buff. Ladd will sign. Buff will be traded and in the long run.. Due to the rhd depth and lack of lw depth.... probably the right move. Personally I'd move them both but that's just me. I feel that its time to shake things up a bit so I'd look to mmove Ladd Buff Toby Even. I think Chevy and the Jets tho will sign Ladd and move the other 2. 

And I wouldn't trade Ladd or Buff straight up for Drouin.  His value is very low. Sorry but publicly announcing you want a trade = zero to no value at all. He's a prospect with 6 goals in 89 games.... attitude issues apparently. I don't give up much. Maybe Stuart and a 3rd at most.  Drouin won't get much back

Not going to get him for Stuart and a 1st never mind Stuart and a 3rd. He's a year older than Ehlers.

He has about 40 points in 89 games in the NHL. Ehlers has 13 in 38. If Ehlers startd off slowly and was shipped to the Moose, would you trade him for Stu and a 1st?

 

Totally different scenario. Drouin went public with his trade request. That's the part that lowers his value. TBH I don't even want Drouin.  He's another small guy... Jets don't really need him even. Someone will overpay for him. I hope it's not Chevy

He has lots of value. Lots of talent too but I agree, much too small. If Petan were 4 inches taller, he would have went 1st round. I hope Kesler goes after Scheif and Buff pounds him.

As soon as there are more than one team interested, the value goes up ... and guaranteed if the Jets offered Stuart and a third, some other team would offer more.

TB owns the asset for years to come.  Drouin has no leverage.  TB will let him sit and rot rather then trade him for below market value.  It isn't like he is a core piece of their lineup that they need to replace if he sits out.  TB can afford to wait more than Drouin can.

I agree with all of that but... Normally when a guy comes out and requests a trade, it doesn't really end all that well. Think Drouins time is up.
