Ladd and Buff

What should we do with them?

Is signing them to a bad contract worse than not signing either and losing them for nothing?

What term and how much should they be paid?

If we sign only one, which should it be?

If we trade one, what should we be looking to get back?? A LHD??

Buff  AAV - 5.2m   Actual salary - 6m

Ladd AAV - 4.4m  Actual salary - 4.5m

I'd like to see them both signed but I think Ladd is easier to replace; however, what does trading do or say to your team?

Neither should get more than a 6 year term in my opinion.

I wouldn't go higher than 6.25 for Ladd or 7 for Buff.

Agreed. The guys we really like are telling the truth about wanting to be here. The guy we don't like is a dirty liar and a quitter. These are indisputable facts.

I didn't realize that the management of the Jets was a democracy.

  • If we put him on waivers tonight, he'd be gone in a heartbeat. He has more value to this time than you know. The fact you don't see that shows how little you know about building a roster

Stu is a liability every single time he is on the ice tho.

I know how bad Chiarot has played this year but you would hope he would learn and get better....Stu isn't going to learn anything now at his age....he is what he is.

Ya OK he's a liability every time he's on the ice. I don't know why I'm even bothering with you. You're probably one of the guys in the crowd yelling SHOOT every time we touch the puck.

  • Author

If they're in the slot? Dam rights I am yelling.

I always wonder why a team always tries to get the puck to a guy in the slot and when the player gets it, he passes.....

You do know that Stu is signed for two more years after tiso ne right? 2.625m per.

And the people who know more about hockey than all of us combined gave him that contract. Liabilities don't make it to the NHL. They are playing beer league

The Jets play in a beer league?

Saying be is a liability every single time he is on the ice shows how little you know.

He is the epitome of what you want in a bottom six D-man. Physical, defends his own end and blocks shots.

He helped in a big way with Trouba's development.

Stuart is a good guy, only on this site do I read anyone complaining about the guy and his role with his team.

visit some other sites, you'll see 90% of the fans complaining about him.The epitome of what you want in a bottom 6 pairing? Gimme a break. This team is better with him NOT on the ice.

Agreed. However after 2 he was leading the jets in Ice time with 15 minutes. He's being played 2 much. That's on the coaches

He sees too much time on the PK. Way too much.

I realize we don't have any better LHD to play but that doesn't make him a better player, he is horrible.

You know there are 3 other guys on the ice too. Steens goal. Buff was screening helle. People always will blame 1 guy but in sports... it's never just one guy. We play a very passive 4 man box on the pk. They need to be more agressive. That's on the coaches

  • Author

They need to be WAY more aggressive....look at how aggressive the Hawks' PK is.

I don'[t really blame any player for a PK goal unless it is a really bad play. I'd sooner blame the guy in the box.

Anyone know who is responsible for the PK?

Pascal Vincent I think. Maybe Maurice tho

How many more seasons will we have subpar or inconsistent special teams? Time to get some new assistants.

they were just re-signed to 3 year deals this past summer.

I really don't see us making the playoffs to be hon est.....12 games in January and 10 are conference and 6 are divisional. We are 3-10 against our division.

Plus, our last 20 or so games are in about 40 or so days.....if we make the playoffs it will take a miracle or miraculous goaltending.

Not making the playoffs.  People look at the standings and see six points out of a playoff spot and think its only three games but it means the Jets have to play better than they have been and those teams have to play worse than they have been.  Its unlikely to happen.

My worst fear is they are battling for a spot at the deadline and the team decides to keep Ladd and/or Buff as UFA's....  I'd rather be well out of it and trade whomever we can for picks and prospects.  Realistically, we know the Scheif/Trouba/Lowry/Wheeler/Little are untouchables.  Who else is?  Helle probably.  I'd argue Perrerault.  And our rookies.  Trade everyone else.

Jets last place in central. Close to last in nhl

How many teams have that one guy as a go to guy special team player? Ovechkin, Malkin, Subban?

Not many. Buff fit that role but he's too inconsistent.

Stuart does his job and obviously the coaches think so too.

Crazy that we have a lot of players on this team who can score goals but PP sucks. Maybe we need to go back to 2 D on the PP. They only do that for half the PP correct?

The problem on PP is they try to be too fancy, too many passes. And when you take a shot, take one that will get rebounds.

The PP isn't really that big of an issue, it's the PK that is really killing them. Like POMO said in his PC today, there have been teams who ranked 30th in PP during the regular season win the stanley cup, I personally don't think that's exactly true but... teams near the bottom on the PP for sure, It's the PK that really matters.

If you are having to score 2 or 3 PP guys a night to win a game, you don't deserve to win.

Look at last night... 4-3 final right....

Jets 0 for 2 on the PP

St Louis = 2 for 3

That's the difference, it's not the 0 for on the Jets that's the difference, it's the 2 PP goals by St Louis that is, Our PK sucks and until it improves... fun fact, if St Louis goes 0 for 3 on the PP, we win 3-2. The difference isn't the PP, it's the PK and last nights game, well, I don't think theres a better example out there that shows you that the PK makes all the difference in the WORLD...  we outscored St Louis, who is a damn good team 3-2 5 vs 5.... Stay out of the damn box, or kill these penalties off and we win.

The bigger problem is the taking of these penalties.... yeah some are weak, actually lowrys and the extra minor to scheif were both BS and weak calls, but... guess what, you don't take those penalties and we win the game... It's really that simple. Stay out of the box, Jets have a target on their back, they should realize that they aren't allowed to get away with what other teams are, yeah it's BS but... it is what it is. Time for the Jets to stop the bitching and complaining about the penalties and quite simply put, STAY OUT OF THE DAMN BOX.
