Around the NHL

Catch all thread for discussing other NHL teams/news.

Up first:  Pittsburgh Penguins, my secondary team to cheer for.

I guess their worst start since Sid's rookie year could be because of their lousy defense.  Or bad coaching.  Or Kessel.

But in reality its because I took Fleury in my pool every year for 10 years until last year when I was fed up, he has his best year ever and then I took him this year and now he sucks.

But really, whats the deal?  They might be the first to can their coach.

And in other news... won't be seeing Raffl called up as he is done for the year.  This probably ends his very short north American career also. Injury prone much?

Yeah don't think to many teams will be looking for a 30 year old rookie, just didn't work out for him here.

So much for Roy Hobbs.

Kruger signs for three years for 3.083m per year for 9.25m.

Hope this hasn't been posted.........

So, basically, the Suns will need a new arena eventually, but, for now, they’re fine where they are.

The Coyotes’ needs are more pressing, as their lease in Glendale expires after next season. The team has targeted the end of the current regular season to announce its plans.

According to ABC 15 in Phoenix, the “two likeliest scenarios” are a “joint arena in Tempe with the Arizona State University hockey team” and an “arena within the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community in Scottsdale.”

ABC 15, citing sources, notes that “the Suns and Coyotes have struggled to reach agreeable terms” on an arena deal.

They could stick an arena were ever they want but the real question is who will pay for it, opponents will just put up a picture of Glendale and tell them how much money was soaked out of that community for a team that has some of the cheapest tickets and only sells out when the Black Hawks show up. Hockey team must control the building or it's a no go they can't survive on ticket sales alone.

Good God, move that team out of that slack ass town already...

Matthews' season is over in Europe...now what? Team USA?

I'm looking forward to that tournament. Not much to watch for hockey at that time.

In April?!?!

I was thinking of the upcoming World Cup of Hockey...

It'll be good for Matthews to keep playing.......I think Eichel did the same thing?

So Dennis Wideman's suspension has been cut to 10 games on appeal... after he's already served 19.  Now he'll get some money back but how do you compensate him and the team for the games he's lost?

Since it's the Flamers, I don't really give a f**k but what would the reaction be if it was a team/player that really mattered & were battling for a playoff spot?

**** Dennis Wideman and **** the arbitrator for reducing the suspension. I hope the refs revolt over this...

To the detriment of the Flames he might find himself in the penalty box on any close infractions remember the linesman still has not come back and add to the fact that Wideman showed no remorse after the fact did not gain him any favors with the officials.

This really makes the NHL look bush...

The NHL gave him 20, reduced by arbitrator.

I hope the NHL exhausts all appeals. Arbitrator was wrong. And this might be the only time i hope the refs call things very ahem strictly against this clown
