Blue Jays

Anyone else following them as intently as I am right now? They are on fire after the trade deadline moves.

I'm a little concerned that AA left the minor league pitching cupboards a little too bare, especially with the Price trade. Even though they gave up the guys with the highest potential in Hoffman and Castro, I think the return was worth it, since Reyes had regressed so quickly. In getting Price though, AA gave up a couple of guys who would likely have been solid starters in a year or two in exchange for a rental. A very good rental, but a rental none the less. Without the Price move, I'm not sure if the Tulo and Revere moves alone would have provided the morale boost and buzz that we're seeing now that could propel them into the playoffs.

The positive thing is that we have most of our current position players returning next year, which will ensure very good defensive play and offensive continuity, but it will be a challenge to pull together a complete starting rotation and bullpen without being pretty active in free agency. Pitchers currently on the roster who they have no control over include Estrada, Buhrle, Price, Hawkins, and Lowe.

Batting comes when you get into your rhythm. They'll start hitting, I'm sure of it.

Thats the truth. Guys who start out hot are seldom more then just on a streak.

The bottom really fell out on liriano. ST numbers dont mean much but still. Hope he manages to get it back together. Though at worst hed be a very good lefty out of the pen. The young pitchers sure are worth the watch alone. Stro seems back on pace after a rough year last year. With him, estrada sanchez and happ im not worried about the starters for the first time in ages.

Blue Jays 1-4 and I can't even gloat my team has the same record :(

Bad road trip to start the season, hope they can turn it around at home with their "closer" back in the lineup ...

The ex Cleveland management is turning this team into an old Cleveland type team ...

Tough start for sure, they just can't score any runs.

ya, a real lead off hitter would be great but the line up will come around.

Time to go on a Winnipeg Jets type run ... never mind ;)

Sad to say for Blue Jays fans but this terrible start even at the beginning of the season could sink any thoughts of post season if they don't turn it around and quick, they are slow can't get on base or hit home runs, only pitching has been on par. One of the older teams in MLB and not much of a prospect pool.

eh not some thing to worry about pre all star break. Especially not some thing to worry about first month of the season.

Isn't old and slow something to be desired in athletics? Wait a minute, that's Bocce Ball ...

What's the difference between the Toronto Blue Jays and a Mosquito? A Mosquito stops sucking ...

Why is it good to date a girl who's a Blue Jays fan?  She won't want a ring.

Why don't the Jay's have a website? They can't string 3 w's together.

Why do the Jays remind you of laminate flooring? They're easy to sweep ...

Baseball is such a simple sport.

Throw the ball catch the ball hit the ball...

Jays can't hit the ball so they lose.

Pretty simple. Hard to blame management and GM when the players can't score any runs.

Except for the fact the management is directly responsible for the non hitting players being on the field.

The guys management brought in over the off season are the guys hitting the ball tho. It's the former Jays who they inherited who aren't

the start is disappointing but don't forget the Jay's batting sucked to start last year too.

the beginning of every season should in theory favor pitching anyways, as hitters need to get accustomed to the pitcher. of course there's anomalies like st Louis or whoever putting up 12 runs in the first the other day but generally speaking.

They better get their act together cause they got Boston coming in and then head to the west coast.

Well they got a bit of the monkey off of their backs today but 2 - 9 is a brutal start.

Check that, 2 - 10 ...

check it out april 16th... if your gonna get uppity after 2 weeks in a loooong season,  your in for some fits all year long. jays ALWAYS have a bad stretch or 2 somewhere in there, probably better to get it over with now

Can't win 1 game every week and make the post season and with Happ leaving the game early today and Donaldson and Sanchez both on the injured list the probability of them turning it around this month is slim.

I get it, looooooong season. Let's  check back when they are 4 - 20 ...

I'm moving on.  The Twins are closer to home anyways.  Minnesota kinda looks like Manitoba if you squint.
