The Wild Card race aka hockey's Final Four

This topic is for teams in the Wild Card race.

L.A.: We can write off L.A. as being a concern. After hibernating for most of the season the Cup champs have woken up and have won 8 in a row. No surprise. When you've won multiple cups recently you can take 50 games off and turn on the power when you need to.

4 teams - 2 spots...

Calgary: Kings play lately has knocked them down into the Wild Card race but they have a March schedule that is the best of all the teams included in this post. 15 games(7 home) with 10 against teams below them currently in the standings.

Minnesota: Pulled off the trade/gift of the year by getting Dubnyk. 14 games(8 home) in March and 6 against teams below them currently in the standings.

Winnipeg: 14 games(8 at home) and 5 against teams currently below us in the standings.

San Jose: Has a brutal March schedule. Of their 13 games they only play 3 teams below them currently in the standings. On the plus side, the least amount of games.

And the rest...

DAL/COL: Can not find the post from last fall but I called DAL/COL as missing the playoffs this year and that's holding up. Really seeing nothing changing in that department plus I just can't be wrong in my predictions :)

Conclusion...

Advantage Calgary/Minnesota

Or we could just win again and say to hell with them both

It would be nice to win tomorrow and end it there. Let Pavelec sit the final game of the season.

  • I'm gonna say it, but Chicago is a team that i could see struggling down the stretch too, They are without Patrick Kane now and their D leaves lots to  be desired, Jets aren't far back of them actuall

Check that, they did finish the Kings tonight ;)

Wild have moved into 3rd place in the division with the win. Chicago is one point back but with 2 games in hand. That's going to amp up the game tomorrow even more.

Minnesota is looking like a stanley cup winner.

I saw a bit of the game yesterday against the Kings.... I don't know if it means much, but Minnesota looked like a much better team. They swarmed in the King's end.

Maybe... Parise senior died a few months ago, and the son is on a mission to honour his dad.

Facing Ottawa. Both teams playing the same.

Except Ottawa lost to Toronto

Minny doesn't get out of the 1st round. You heard it here first...

why not?

It would back up their point that Minny should not have made the playoffs :)

What do you mean "their" point? When did I say that?

Frosty, at least some people have the balls to make a prediction...not after it is fact.

yeah it is.

why not?

I think they'll have blown their load, so to speak, with this big run in the regular season. I don't think they'll have another gear to go to in the playoffs.

bleacher report says wild number 1

Recent Trend: Minnesota's been one of the hottest teams in the NHL for several months now, and that shows no signs of changing. The Wild went 4-0 this week and currently hold a five-game winning streak.

Big Picture: Minnesota briefly moved past Chicago for control of third in the Central Division, but a Blackhawks win on Sunday bumped them back down. The Wild have been the best team in the NHL since bringing aboard Devan Dubnyk in mid-January; the team's plus-47 goal differential is 19 better than the next-closest club since then.

Jets still in the 2nd Wildcard spot after tonight's play ... Nucks win, Flames win, Kings lose.

Winners and losers for March 30th

Canucks +2 = 93

Flames +2 = 91

Kings +0 = 88

Scores of 4 - 1 or 5 - 3 were the order of the day ;)

Chicago does us a solid and we get to spend another day in a playoff spot...

LA has a much easier last 5 games and I don't see them not picking up one more win than us.

Getting a bit of help finally.

Calgary losing helps us as we are down by a point with a game in hand ... (small victories ;) )
