The Wild Card race aka hockey's Final Four

This topic is for teams in the Wild Card race.

L.A.: We can write off L.A. as being a concern. After hibernating for most of the season the Cup champs have woken up and have won 8 in a row. No surprise. When you've won multiple cups recently you can take 50 games off and turn on the power when you need to.

4 teams - 2 spots...

Calgary: Kings play lately has knocked them down into the Wild Card race but they have a March schedule that is the best of all the teams included in this post. 15 games(7 home) with 10 against teams below them currently in the standings.

Minnesota: Pulled off the trade/gift of the year by getting Dubnyk. 14 games(8 home) in March and 6 against teams below them currently in the standings.

Winnipeg: 14 games(8 at home) and 5 against teams currently below us in the standings.

San Jose: Has a brutal March schedule. Of their 13 games they only play 3 teams below them currently in the standings. On the plus side, the least amount of games.

And the rest...

DAL/COL: Can not find the post from last fall but I called DAL/COL as missing the playoffs this year and that's holding up. Really seeing nothing changing in that department plus I just can't be wrong in my predictions :)

Conclusion...

Advantage Calgary/Minnesota

Or we could just win again and say to hell with them both

It would be nice to win tomorrow and end it there. Let Pavelec sit the final game of the season.

  • I'm gonna say it, but Chicago is a team that i could see struggling down the stretch too, They are without Patrick Kane now and their D leaves lots to  be desired, Jets aren't far back of them actuall

Are you kidding me Calgary? Five straight goals by the Flames against the Ducks. Wow.

With the loss and Jets win, Calgary is now 3rd in the Wild Card race.

Sharks need 3 wins just to catch up to Jets. Done like dinner me thinks.

Ryan Miller will not be back for regular season...

Cheering for Anaheim

I hate Orange County with the fury of a thousand burning suns, but yeah, go Ducks.

Speaking of Vancouver goalies, why do their tailors leave the umlaut off Eddie Läck's namebar? Is it too metal?

Ducks win in OT. Kings at 82 points now same as Jets. 1 up on flames who are trending downward

Winners and losers for March 19th

Minnesota 0 - 85 pts

Vancouver 0 - 84

Winnipeg 2 - 84

Calgary 2 - 83

Never to late to mention the Jets have 3 less wins...non-overtime wins then everyone but L.A and that's a potential playoff tiebreaker.

Keep winning and tiebreaker is irrelevant. Not sure when the last time a season ended for a team because of a tiebreaker. Never?

Minny will be lucky to win 2 of their next 4.

Plus Vancouver Calgary and LA are basically fighting for spots in the Pacific division too, Jets would be 2nd or tied for 2nd in that division right now.

Jets would be in third in that division behind Anaheim and Vancouver.

Minny will probably win 4-5 games for the rest of the seasonand finish out of the playoffs.

I hope you're right.  As much as I like Minnesota.  Wild and Jets with the last two spots and end up in the conference final would likely result in a lot of OT for border security.

It's just wild guess where Jets would be if they started season in Pacific Div.

LA has the easier schedule and I think they will make the playoffs, not Minny. My opinion.

Minny will be lucky to win 2 of their next 4.

Considering how they've been playing over the last 10-15 games, I don't know about that. I just keep waiting for Dubnyk to come back to his old self and it has happened yet.

They look pretty lucky today.

Minny just laid the boots to St Louis

Jets Win. 1 point behind minny still but 4 up on LA now. LA has problems. Big problems. They are not gonna make it. Minny and the Jets will

My bad. Fixed. Well Minnesota is Duckie's favorite team :P

Another big night with just the 'Nucks not playing.

Any chance the Leafs win over Minny?

Yeah, didn't think so.
