Second season of Orange is the New Black launched today.

 

Anyone else into this?

 

I have to admit to being a bit of a TV/movie-phile.  I generally buy Blu-Rays when there's a movie I want to see rather than just watching it on PPV or In-demand (I like to collect).

 

Premium TV has really been leading a creative resurgence in recent years, probably dating back to The Sopranos.  Its nice that Netflix has become a legitimate competitor for HBO (which puts out some really great shows like Sopranos, Deadwood, Boardwalk Empire, True Blood etc).

 

House of Cards was tremendous.

 

While cable channels like AMC are getting in on the act, I annoys me a bit.  The Walking Dead would be so much better on Netflix or HBO where they could truly appeal to adults (HBO passed on The Walking Dead when Thomas Jane was attached).

 

As for Orange, it took me a few episodes to get into last season but Im looking forward to banging out a few episodes tonight.

 

As an aside, for you Trekies, it was recently the 20th anniversary of the finale of TNG, one of the best Series' Finales in TV history.

Well, those 2 shows cleared up nothing....

Before watched the 1st 2 episodes, I had heard that the series starts slow but kicks it up a notch starting with episode 3.

Definitely intrigued by where they are going to go with this.

I'm sort of torn on the two eps I watched. I really don't care for the retro-Sitcom homages, but am very very curious about what's going on and why it's happening. We'll keep plowing through in the hopes that it starts to pick up....but if the whole show was just spoofing on old sitcoms......ehhhhhhhh.

 I watched Alien Resident this week & was pleasantly surprised. It may have a chance to succeed. Quirky show but it had its moments.

If you haven't watched the latest episode, I recommend you do.  It explained a whole lot and really tied the show into the larger MCU.

The new ep is exactly what I wanted from this show. Phenomenal. Really hope we get more of this and less of the sitcom throwbacks going forward. Still don't understand how political science major Darcy is suddenly an astrophysicist all of a sudden.... But it's a small issue.

Queen Latifah stars as The Equalizer on CBS. Is this a joke? Is this a comedy? I watched the original Equalizer back in the 80's & liked it a lot. But how can anyone take this show seriously with Queen Latifah as the lead character? I'm out before it even starts. What terrible casting.

But they check three boxes off by changing it from a straight white male to a lesbian black female.
