Second season of Orange is the New Black launched today.

 

Anyone else into this?

 

I have to admit to being a bit of a TV/movie-phile.  I generally buy Blu-Rays when there's a movie I want to see rather than just watching it on PPV or In-demand (I like to collect).

 

Premium TV has really been leading a creative resurgence in recent years, probably dating back to The Sopranos.  Its nice that Netflix has become a legitimate competitor for HBO (which puts out some really great shows like Sopranos, Deadwood, Boardwalk Empire, True Blood etc).

 

House of Cards was tremendous.

 

While cable channels like AMC are getting in on the act, I annoys me a bit.  The Walking Dead would be so much better on Netflix or HBO where they could truly appeal to adults (HBO passed on The Walking Dead when Thomas Jane was attached).

 

As for Orange, it took me a few episodes to get into last season but Im looking forward to banging out a few episodes tonight.

 

As an aside, for you Trekies, it was recently the 20th anniversary of the finale of TNG, one of the best Series' Finales in TV history.

Anyone watch Ozark?  Season 3 dropped this past friday.  Im almost finished.  its really good.  This could be the best season.  Julia Garner is amazing as always (she won an Emmy for Ozark).  But the whole cast is great.

Anyone watching The Plot Against America?  I had been waiting for it and then totally forgot about it.  Looks....timely.  Airong on HBO, hoping to start watching it this evening.

By the way, Ozark Season 3 may have been the best season so far,  Fantastic!!

I've watched two episodes. Taking awhile to get wound up but they go into the fear Jewish Americans had of Charles Lindbergh.  I seem to remember he was a Nazi sympathizer in real life.

He absolutely was. He appeared at Nazi rallies with the Nazi salute and all. He campaigned long and hard for the US to remain out of the war in Europe.

Its funny cause a few times this season, im watching an episode and I think 'this isnt that good, Im really not into it' and then by the end of the episode, Im dying for the next one.  But it is VERY different from the original concept.  And I find the trips back to the park most intriguing.  Whatever they do, keep Tessa Thompson...

Good I could use some good news, but something tells me it won't come til next year because of the virus, I'll be surprised if it does come this year though

Waco on Netflix is really good, though it does try to paint Koresh pretty sympathetically.  Great cast,  Michael Shannon (always awesome) as an FBI negotiator and the underrated Taylor Kitsch as Koresh.  Also stars Shea Whigham and my favourite, Julia Garner.  

I had just seen a documentary on Waco so was feeling pretty Waco'ed out but this is really good.  They sort of make the point that the ATF really didnt need to bother with Waco at all, but dont spend any time at all on the weapons they had and they under-play the child abuse (or statutory rape if you want to call it there).  Though you do get the sense that Koresh is nuts.
