The Expansion Draft

Do we go 8-1 or 7-3-1?

I would think that Scheif, Wheeler and Little are locks to be protected and we have to protect Enstrom and Buff because of their NMCs.

Opinions will change as the year goes on and some players play better/worse and some might be traded but right now they would go 8-1.

Wheeler

Scheif

Little

Trouba

Enstrom

Buff

Myers

Helle for a goalie but who is the 8th player we shold protect?

MP? Lowry? Armia? Dano? Copp?

I say send them a draft pick so they take Copp. A 3rd rounder or so.

Toby doing that when he has zero reason to do so (other then some odd desire to go to Vegas) is a major character move.

Enstrom is worth more than Dano, and it's really not even close.  Another case of Winnipegitis, where we over or under value a player because they are in our market and we watch them so closely.

Maybe winnipeg was a team he didnt want to go 2.

I do not see a NMC in his current contract so he not have choice in the matter.

Cheap, 30 yrs old, LHD, good enough for 62 games on a playoff team.   All for a  5th.  Wish it was us....

Maybe the Jets could aim higher?

And some people hoped to wake up today and see that Toby was gone.

Shouldnt we want to target a younger guy than schlemko?

Schlemko gets a big "meh" from me. Not sure how much of an upgrade he'd be.

Vegas took a bunch of crap. You see that roster? Its ugly. They are tanking.

MAF is going to have fun backstopping that roster.;)

I'd rate him ahead of Chiarot/Stu.

Vegas would have a fine team if they didnt make a single trade. They're hoping for a lot of gems this draft.

Maybe.  Imo it would seem like a trade for the sake of making a trade.

I think their plan is clear - regardless of available players in the expansion draft, they are building a team up.  Much like Chevy had nothing in the cupboard when the Thrashers moved here.  Rather then try to compete now and screw it all up, they are looking to build a team up.

I think they might be decent to watch this year. They have a few players that might work hard and enjoy more minutes than they'd otherwise get.  Depends how good that kid from Russia is too.  And Fleury of course.

Schlemko is easily better than Chiarot, who is one of the worst defencemen in the league.

Schlemko has been on like 6 or 8 teams in the last 4 years. At 1 million a year hes good value but at his current 2.1 million... Hes not.

You gotta wonder why teams keep moving on from him.

Have you even watched him play? He is basically Ben Chistuart

Have you ever seen him play? He's a puck mover and absolutely nothing like either of them.

He went for a 5th round pick. Hes not as good as you think he is.

And Stuart is untradeable so he's worse than Schlemko.

Schlemko isn't good enough to argue about.

He'd be a good third-pairing guy for us and certainly an upgrade on who we have behind Morrissey and Enstrom.

Well let's hope Poolman has a Morrissey-type rookie year.

Moose-bound IMO

Probably.  Because I assume we sign someone for the 3LHD spot.  But I think he'll end up playing with the Jets at some point.

He's coming off two shoulder surgeries and moving from the NCAA. He may not even be at full strength for camp. No doubt he's headed to the Moose.

not bad I'll admit, sure the merchandising will probably take off, but I think they'd rather have some meat in the seats
