US Politics

Lets see if we can keep this thread a little more civil.

I found this interview very interesting.  A lot of soft balls thrown at Trump, he explained his back pedalling on his more extreme issues as a lot of his claims as opening bids for negotiation purposes.  Which .. whatever .. I still think that those are insincere claims he used to get elected.

He does now come across way more presidential then he did prior to the election.  A lot of his noise, yelling, and rhetoric has been scaled back.

Do respect this one though:

Lesley Stahl: Are you gonna take the salary, the president’s salary?

Donald Trump: Well, I’ve never commented on this, but the answer is no. I think I have to by law take $1, so I’ll take $1 a year. But it’s a -- I don’t even know what it is.

Donald Trump: Do you know what the salary is?

Lesley Stahl: $400,000 you’re giving up.

Donald Trump: No, I’m not gonna take the salary. I’m not taking it.

Dragging things out in court isn't a new game for Trump, it's been his SOP forever.

He prefers that....to being totally exonerated

I suppose the strategy is to embolden his base by making it appear the Dems are attacking him unfairly.  More importantly, he has to hide because he cant let all the evidence come out.  If the Dems impeach, does it turn moderates against them or does a Senate letting Trump off embolden the moderates?

his views on Muslims don't mesh with the Democrat view point.  Ben Affleck can tell you all about it.

What are Bill Maher's views on Muslims? Are they not the same as his views on Christians, or any other religion?

A) that is Disgusting.

b) I am not surprised- which in turn kind makes me angry and a bit sad.

I wonder why the so-called (ie Fake) Christian like Falwell would embrace trump...

Exclusive: Trump fixer Cohen says he helped Falwell handle racy photos

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Months before evangelical leader Jerry Falwell Jr.’s game-changing presidential endorsement of Donald Trump in 2016, Falwell asked Trump fixer Michael Cohen for a personal favor, Cohen said in a recorded conversation reviewed by Reuters.

Falwell, president of Liberty University, one of the world’s largest Christian universities, said someone had come into possession of what Cohen described as racy “personal” photographs

maybe so, but Ben Affleck doesn't go ape-**** when Bill talks about Christians.  Weird how that works.

So the New York Times have 10 years of Trumps tax returns from the middle 80's to 90's and as a business man he is a loser and also 8 out of 10 years never paid any taxes also a lot of oddities in his returns.

The numbers show that in 1985, Mr. Trump reported losses of $46.1 million from his core businesses — largely casinos, hotels and retail space in apartment buildings. They continued to lose money every year, totaling $1.17 billion in losses for the decade.

In fact, year after year, Mr. Trump appears to have lost more money than nearly any other individual American taxpayer, The Times found when it compared his results with detailed information the I.R.S. compiles on an annual sampling of high-income earners. His core business losses in 1990 and 1991 — more than $250 million each year — were more than double those of the nearest taxpayers in the I.R.S. information for those years.

Well, I am happy that he didn't campaign on his competence as a businessman.- oh wait....

JFC....

Edit- I can't wait for the ensuing tweet-storm.

Wow...Trump's a bigger loser than I thought.

Blanche and Turtle better of asked for cash instead of a check for protecting Trump 😀

He lied about his acumen as a businessman, lost mostly other people's money and worked the tax system to a T......but us working class folk, still know that Trump is the man, and cannot be questioned.

It’s funny to make fun of the idiot but he stiffed a lot of people. And there are real questions about a guy who kept getting funding and help and live large after all those losses.

How could that be?  Can you say money laundering?

At this point Trump could be caught on tape laughing and calling the people that voted for him stupid and those same people would still vote for him, because they are stupid.

DOJ tells Nadler stop the contempt vote on AG Barr or they will advise Trump to claim executive privilege on everything, hey might as well add back mail

The next important question...is why did a certain foreign bank lend him 2B, despite misrepresenting his assets, and being such a bad credit risk, that no North American bank, wasn't interested in giving him a dime.

The attempt to hinder congress is really shocking.  Fine, trump wants to restrain them but the GOP going along with this sets a precedent they will come back to haunt them eventually.
