US Politics

Lets see if we can keep this thread a little more civil.

I found this interview very interesting.  A lot of soft balls thrown at Trump, he explained his back pedalling on his more extreme issues as a lot of his claims as opening bids for negotiation purposes.  Which .. whatever .. I still think that those are insincere claims he used to get elected.

He does now come across way more presidential then he did prior to the election.  A lot of his noise, yelling, and rhetoric has been scaled back.

Do respect this one though:

Quote

Lesley Stahl: Are you gonna take the salary, the president’s salary?

Donald Trump: Well, I’ve never commented on this, but the answer is no. I think I have to by law take $1, so I’ll take $1 a year. But it’s a -- I don’t even know what it is.

Donald Trump: Do you know what the salary is?

Lesley Stahl: $400,000 you’re giving up.

Donald Trump: No, I’m not gonna take the salary. I’m not taking it.

That is going stick in trumps craw as soon as someone mentions the size of the protest dwarfs his inauguration crowd.

The Terrifying History of Bad Cops in Buffalo

No fewer than four men of color have died as the result of encounters with Buffalo police in the past three years. Then a 75-year-old got knocked down
.

This story was published in partnership with Investigative Post, a non-profit investigative reporting center in Buffalo, New York.

It’s the shove seen round the world: two Buffalo cops push a demonstrator who falls, slams his head on the pavement, and immediately begins to bleed from the ears.

City officials wasted no time in suspending the two officers seen on the video shoving the demonstrator, who, it turns out, is 75 years old and fighting cancer. On Saturday, the officers were charged with assault in the second degree.

Suffice to say, this is not a good look for the police.

I’d like to see these Republicans eventually endorse Biden and not simply refuse to endorse trump. W, for example, didn’t vote for trump last time. Neither did Romney. But they wouldn’t endorse a Democrat.  Now is the time. Put the union and the constitution above politics.

2020 is perfect Biden.  He doesn’t have to attend 100 rally’s a day where gaffes will be magnified. Trump us screwing himself everyday.   As the campaign goes on there will be more to do and more focus but for now I think Biden is handling things perfectly.

That's why I think that he needs a well spoken articulate and aggressive VP pick, someone who will keep Trump's campaign in check and call out Trump for his misdeeds and lies, yup still on the Kamala Harris bandwagon

I agree. Harris would be perfect.  Because trump would attack her so much and it would be obvious a large reason is her gender and skin colour.

Like a trained monkey, trump hears the music and starts clapping.

Colin Powell is hardly in a position to be holier than thou. He was instrumental in promoting all the ouright  lies that the second Bush administration promoted in ordfer to justify the Gulf War (Hussein was responsible for 9-11, Iraq was seeking weapons-grade uranium and had weapons of mass destruction etc etc) that resulted in the deaths of over a half-million Iraqis (mostly children) and the rekindling of civil conflicts, the eviction of Jews and Christians and the deliberate destruction of Iraqi infrastructure. Powell and the other toadies in HW's regime should have been prosecuted as war criminals. That Bush administration helped to set the stage for the current mess.

BUSTED: Key Trump aide caught pushing racist vigilantism on social media

Video of a chainsaw-wielding Texas man threatening protesters while shouting the n-word went viral on Friday.

While many people were shocked by the video, one of President Donald Trump’s top advisors supported the racism and vigilantism in documented in the video, according to a new report.

“President Donald Trump and his allies for years have amplified racist messages on Twitter while simultaneously reaching out to black and Hispanic voters, a dissonant balancing act that’s now rocking the GOP amid nationwide racial-justice protests,” Politico reported Saturday. “The two competing forces collided Saturday on the Twitter feed of Trump campaign senior adviser Mercedes Schlapp, when she boosted a tweet that lauded a man in Texas in a viral video as he yelled the n-word and wielded a chainsaw to chase away anti-racism demonstrators.”

Apparently Schlapp thought her post wouldn’t be as offensive if the n-word were edited out.

QAnon-loving Senate candidate wants martial law declared in Oregon to combat ‘antifa’
The Oregon GOP nominee for the U.S. Senate, Jo Rae Perkins, decided to let her “Q light” shine on a Facebook livestream earlier this week—and it was a doozy.

Perkins, an unrepentant “QAnon” conspiracy cultist, told her audience that the state needs to be placed under martial law, with the National Guard being sent not just to Portland—where there have been violent protests over police brutality—but to rural places like Klamath Falls and Bend. Her reasoning: Busloads of nefarious antifa activists, financed by the evil George Soros, are fanning out to these towns to wreak destruction.

Texas GOP leaders call George Floyd’s death a hoax and compare MLK to a monkey

Leaders of the Republican Party in Texas have been publishing conspiracy theories and racist posts on social media in response to the national protests against anti-Black policing. Amid calls for them to step down, all have refused.

Bexar County Republican Chairwoman Cynthia Brehm posted a now-deleted Facebook post in which she claimed George Floyd’s May 25 death was actually a “staged event” to spark opposition to President Donald Trump.

In her post Brehm wrote, “I think there is at the very least the ‘possibility’ that this was a filmed public execution of a black man by a white cop, with the purpose of creating racial tensions and driving a wedge in the growing group of anti deep state sentiment from common people that have already been psychologically traumatized by Covid 19 fears.”

Pentagon Order Was Behind National Guard Helicopters Buzzing D.C. Protesters

@MarielCG3/Reuters
The Pentagon reportedly ordered National Guard helicopters to maintain a “persistent presence” in Washington, D.C. this week as protests over the death of George Floyd continued, resulting in the dangerously low fly-bys that sparked outrage from human rights groups. Two helicopters flew low enough over crowds the night of June 1 to blast them with wind and engulf them in noise, a practice known as “buzzing” and most often reserved for war zones. According to The New York Times, military officials said the aggressive maneuver stemmed from a Pentagon threat to send in active-duty military units if the Guard could not control the crowds.

(And the line between civilian and military power gets blurred even further)

Drifted???!!!

More like he ripped it up, spit on it for ratings.

We need more real speak from influential people from all walks of life in a unified way. Like the Lincoln project bringing all types of people to deliver the same message together. Full court press, back him and the magats into a corner where they have no where to go.

Use less individual approaches using diplomatic language in condemning this madman and his administration.
