US Politics

Lets see if we can keep this thread a little more civil.

I found this interview very interesting.  A lot of soft balls thrown at Trump, he explained his back pedalling on his more extreme issues as a lot of his claims as opening bids for negotiation purposes.  Which .. whatever .. I still think that those are insincere claims he used to get elected.

He does now come across way more presidential then he did prior to the election.  A lot of his noise, yelling, and rhetoric has been scaled back.

Do respect this one though:

Quote

Lesley Stahl: Are you gonna take the salary, the president’s salary?

Donald Trump: Well, I’ve never commented on this, but the answer is no. I think I have to by law take $1, so I’ll take $1 a year. But it’s a -- I don’t even know what it is.

Donald Trump: Do you know what the salary is?

Lesley Stahl: $400,000 you’re giving up.

Donald Trump: No, I’m not gonna take the salary. I’m not taking it.

It’s over.  Just waiting for Bernie to do the right thing.

Sanders wiped out in Florida (lost by 40%), Illinois (22) and Arizona 12).
He had his debate time, and can barter further (platform) with his fundraising lists, and support.   But Sanders is traveling a road to nowhere......

Yeah, it's over. Biden wins AZ, Fla & Illinois & in 2 states it wasn't even close. He got wiped out in Florida.

The only thing I agree with Bernie about is that all Americans should have access to single pay healthcare. The other stuff is gobbledygook socialism.

Post secondary school shouldn't be free as then it would have no value. But it shouldn't cost $25-100,000 a year either. In 2012, when my son was playing qb at a Junior College in Northern California, he got a letter from the University Of Oregon inviting him to try out as a walk on at qb. The letter was from then HC Chip Kelly saying my son was one of a hundred players recognized across the US as candidates to play at OSU & how some of them ended up with full time scholarships. After a few minutes & the excitement wore off in our family, I needed to come up with $30,000 US to pay his first year tuition. As a Canadian, my son didn't qualify for any scholarships from Alberta or from Oregon. He was SOL. I didn't have that kind of money, unfortunately. Ended up going to SFU. where he got his degree.

When I visited Harvard they told us that ability to pay isnt even a factor in accepting students.  And if you're accepted, you go.  If you and your family have money, you pay.  If you dont, you go for free.  Obviously, a wealthy family can afford to pay.  But I agree, educating the masses shouldnt be a debilitating financial scenario.

This idiot thinks that everyone in America are like his sheeple who fawn and believe his every word, I hope most have eyes and ears and know better and disregard the crap that comes out of his pie hole

The base will believe it.  But it actually comes across super desperate and makes him look worse.  He's so small, he has to pretend he knew what he was doing when he didnt.

Sorry was being sarcastic about the schooling. I’m in the same boat in believing it shouldn’t be free. But pretty cool about your son.

Canada / US border closing, trade will still flow thru.

This is both hilarious but disgusting.  Fox News should be thrown off the air.

The about-face by these MAGAts is honestly unbelievable. I guess that's what happens when common sense gut punches you, though.

Here is another one straight from the horse's (ass) mouth:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ch7_t2Ri2Zg

The most aggravating thing is that none of this will make any difference to vast numbers of Americans. Almost none of them (won't say all because one FOX host actually said "I underestimated how serious it was") will own their blatant lies and say "I was wrong", and will spin that this came out of the blue and no one could have predicted it, and the MAGA masses will believe it, or at least accept it. And they will hypocritically rail against the demon that is socialism while praying that the banks forgive their mortgages and loans for 6 months and the government will give them each  a $1000 cheque a month to keep them afloat, and that there will be enough tests and ventilators for everyone RIGHT NOW that they don't have to pay through the nose for, and not see that what they demand as an entitlement from their government in times of need is what they rail against on the campaign trail. And there is no educating them on their folly. Because they live in an all-or-nothing world, where ANY gun control means ALL our guns will be confiscated, where ANY social assistance (EI, social security, food stamps) means that ALL the lazy people will abuse this handout.

Trump on tv now just mumbling and contradicting himself, just in case all American's are stupid the hospital ships are "the big white ships with red crosses on them"

Damage already done.
Fox and other right wing echo chambers, spent all their time, labeling the virus as varied forms of a evil conspiracy or simply media hysteria - actually encouraging people to ignore the health warnings.
A lot of Americans took that advice.  Sadly, a lot of Americans are simply going to die, as a result of this total and blatant irresponsibility.
Longtime exposure to malignant propaganda......... sometimes has its price.

No problem. Yeah, it would have been cool, no doubt. Even if he didn't play much. Just to be a part of a huge D1 football program. I still have that letter.

Trump's press conferences at this point are a giant circle jerk

The media and no one else, for that matter, knows anything about all the fantastic and incredible things Trump has done to combat the virus.

Well according the the Orange Scourge, anyways

Usual Trump traits are on shameless and naked display, yet again this morning.

Of course Trump ends his pc with a reporter from OANN who praises him and throws out accusations about other media members.
