US Politics

Lets see if we can keep this thread a little more civil.

I found this interview very interesting.  A lot of soft balls thrown at Trump, he explained his back pedalling on his more extreme issues as a lot of his claims as opening bids for negotiation purposes.  Which .. whatever .. I still think that those are insincere claims he used to get elected.

He does now come across way more presidential then he did prior to the election.  A lot of his noise, yelling, and rhetoric has been scaled back.

Do respect this one though:

Quote

Lesley Stahl: Are you gonna take the salary, the president’s salary?

Donald Trump: Well, I’ve never commented on this, but the answer is no. I think I have to by law take $1, so I’ll take $1 a year. But it’s a -- I don’t even know what it is.

Donald Trump: Do you know what the salary is?

Lesley Stahl: $400,000 you’re giving up.

Donald Trump: No, I’m not gonna take the salary. I’m not taking it.

wow, another huge surprise!

A Department of Justice investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton pushed by President Donald Trump is winding down, finding nothing of consequence after two years, The Washington Post reports.

Then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions tasked U.S. Attorney John Huber in 2017 with reviewing Trump’s claims that the FBI had not fully investigated possible corruption at the Clinton Foundation during Clinton’s time as secretary of state when the Obama administration chose not to block the sale of a company called Uranium One. Trump claimed that Clinton “gave” Russia “20 percent of our uranium,” which drew “Four Pinocchios” from The Washington Post’s fact-checkers.

But the Justice Department pursued the investigation for more than two years, along with matters related to the FBI’s handling of the investigation into Clinton’s email server and alleged leaks.

“Your recommendations should include whether any matters not currently under investigation warrants the opening of an investigation, whether any matters currently under investigation require further resources or further investigation and whether any matters would merit the appointment of a Special Counsel,” Sessions wrote at the time he appointed Huber to lead the probe.

The Post reported on Friday that “Huber has largely finished and found nothing worth pursuing,” though the probe has not been formally wrapped up.

Well clearly the Clintons are SO corrupt that they've managed to bring the entire world population under their thumb and no one will ever find anything.  Or something.

Republicans have been painstakingly investigating the Clintons for a total of probably ten years, in total, findings.... nothing.

Trump investigated for less than two; so far, found..... sorry... lost count of the number of convictions and clear breaches of law.

But, you know, both sides blah.

I started reading the Toobin (I think it was him) book about the conspiracy to take down Bill Clinton.  Hilary famously referred to it as a vast right wing conspiracy and looked bonkers at the time.  But the more you look into it, you see the right HATED Bill with a passion (and now Hilary ofcourse).

Whatever side anyone falls on politically, facts are facts.  Lots of facts show the right desperately witch hunting for dirt on the Clintons for years and facts show us Trump ACTUALLY is a criminal.

Fact is, Hilary got robbed and cheated.  Should be President right now.  and Bill would make a fine First Gentleman...lol

Theyre very quiet now but certainly there will be an avalanche of support for ant got protests in Iran from progressives,  right,

Who’s quiet?  It’s literally all over the news and social media.   The alt right sure are delusional.  Next you’re going to say trump is a hero for killing a general without cause, lying about the reasons and creating a fog of war that led to the accidental deaths of 63 Canadian so that Iranians would continue to protest their government as they’ve been doing for weeks anyway.

They’re just making things up and not even pretending they’re not.

"I believe it too"

Pretty funny/frightening.

can't disagree with dear leader or you risk ridicule and death threats.

Let's hope this bunch is punished for this debasement, by the whole lot of them getting thrown out of office next election.

I would like to see a lengthy investigation of Mitch McConnell and his wife and children. Ties to Putin, ties to the Sultan of Swat, just make things up, like the Republicans do.  drag it out for years.

Just like trump wanting the Central Park five put to death because he “believed” they were guilty (we’ll probably less that he thought they were guilty and more so other reasons if you catch my drift).

"Progressives"  are quiet.  Iran is a repressive theocracy . The kind of society progressives claim to hate. The kind of society they fantasize about resisting and overthrowing if it were a book or movie

Yet Iran is real.  And they can't bring themselves to support the protesters because ...?

Right on!

I think she made the right decision- there is no reason for her to be used as propaganda for the Iranian Government...

Anyone who doesn't get it at this point, probably isn't going to get it.

I just read that 41% of Americans think that their forces found weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

When the citizens are that uninterested in the truth..... bad things will happen to them.

Too bad that the rest of us have to deal with the consequences.

That there is comprised... I'm going to be conservative here... of 90% trump supporters. Makes sense.

We're senators Clinton, Kerry, Schumer asked ? They went against their own party and voted yes on 2003 invasion.

Ah, yes... Whataboutism. A classic logical fallacy.

For how much you claim to dislike Democrats, liberals, and "progressives," you sure love to talk about them. A bit of a deranged obsession you've got there.

Unless you are just trolling and **** posting, then it makes perfect sense.

Again, some pretend that corrupt foreign policy is the sole domain of republicans or conservatives or whatever they see as opponents.

Just illustrates the hypocrisy of some of the elites of the progressive Left. Being uncomfortable when reminded doesn't change that fact.

This makes no sense. It's a question that has nothing to do with my post.
