US Politics

Lets see if we can keep this thread a little more civil.

I found this interview very interesting.  A lot of soft balls thrown at Trump, he explained his back pedalling on his more extreme issues as a lot of his claims as opening bids for negotiation purposes.  Which .. whatever .. I still think that those are insincere claims he used to get elected.

He does now come across way more presidential then he did prior to the election.  A lot of his noise, yelling, and rhetoric has been scaled back.

Do respect this one though:

Lesley Stahl: Are you gonna take the salary, the president’s salary?

Donald Trump: Well, I’ve never commented on this, but the answer is no. I think I have to by law take $1, so I’ll take $1 a year. But it’s a -- I don’t even know what it is.

Donald Trump: Do you know what the salary is?

Lesley Stahl: $400,000 you’re giving up.

Donald Trump: No, I’m not gonna take the salary. I’m not taking it.

The freshman congresswoman made a true statement that has merit. But ofcourse being a woman of colour and a Muslim puts her square in the cross hairs of the white nationalist agenda.

Don’t bother looking at trump’s own absurd remarks about 9/11. Just attack the dark lady.

So where in this piece is the antisemitism?

There isn't any. None.

Of course she's right. She's talking about the influence of money in American politics. For instance....

Sheldon Adelson, Jewish American casino billionaire

Quote

“Adelson’s established himself as an influential figure in American politics with the amount of money that he has contributed,” said Logan Bayroff of the liberal pro-Israel group, J Street. “There’s no doubt that he has very strong, very far-right dangerous positions and that – at very least – those positions are really being heard and thought about at the highest levels of government.

nothing aligns more closely with his world view than the intertwining of the Republican party and Israel.

Adelson’s considerable support for Republicans is in no small part motivated by what he regards as their more reliable support for the policies of Benjamin Netanyahu, which appear intent on preventing the creation of an independent Palestinian state.

Adelson gave $82m toward Trump’s and other Republican campaigns during the 2016 election cycle – more than three times the next largest individual donor, according to Open Secrets.

That commitment bought him an attentive hearing from the new administration as he pushed for the appointment of Bolton as national security adviser knowing that he would be an important ally in getting the White House to kill the Iran nuclear deal. The New York Times reported that Adelson is a member of a “shadow National Security Council” advising Bolton.

Adelson is a linchpin in bringing together the radical extremists on the Israeli right and this group of hardliners on Israel and neoconservatives,” said Levy, who is now president of the US-based Middle East Project.

The billionaire is also deeply committed to protecting Israel within the US.

that's what she's talking about. Trump's policy in Israel, comes from Adelson, cause of the money Adelson gives the Republicans.

Hardly anti semitic. It's just a fact.

None of these right wing people read beyond the headline.

Now do Thomas Steyer, Michael Bloomberg, Donald Sussman, James Simons, George Soros and Democrats.

But it was a total exoneration right?  Nothing to see there right?

Nothing to see here all in the up and up, how long after they release the redacted Mueller report does Trump start saying that the people who did the investigation should go to jail not to mention the ones who were spying on him, the protection of this president has never been seen before and for what so that the Republicans can hold on to the Presidency, they better hope they can hold on to the Senate because if the Dems win the Presidency and take control of the Senate and retain the House, Republicans will be running for the hills, of course Trump will have skipped town for mother Russia

 Prediction:

For Collusion-Truthers the release of the report will be the "burning jet fuel doesn't melt steel" "second shooter on the grassy knoll"  moment.

No answer will satisfy, any redaction is proof of a cover up. No evidence is evidence of a conspiracy.

He is guilty of winning an election. It wasn't supposed to happen.

Media, cultural elites, career bureaucrats, globalist plutocrats, liberals in general went all in for a Hillary presidency.

They weild power and they know it. They expect and demand favorable results.

Best believe it's war for them now. ..they use the same terminology..."resistance" etc.

Well you have now completely exposed yourself.

Not really.  All he's done is offer a differing opinion.

So AG Barr is going to have a spinning press conference in the morning, and then later on in the day release the Mueller report just before the holiday and with the House and Senate on break, not to mention the White House has already been briefed about the contents in all probability the unredacted version, as the French said this week Le Cretin Orange est Tres Stupide but he was smart enough to find people to put in power to protect himself and his family, let see how long that lasts.

They are trying so hard to control the narrative- what are they hiding?

I still don't think there is much in the Mueller report that hasn't been touched upon... most of the evidence is in the public sphere... I think the most damaging and most damning stuff is going to come up from all the farmed out cases and the counterintelligence investigations.  The Mueller report should be treated more as a guideline or roadmap and not the Democratic's Ark of the Covenant of impeachment.

But man- these republicans are so complicit in a lot of this ****- let's hope there is some sort of consequence for those assholes.

Well- it's Mueller time tomorrow, let's hope the media gets it right this swing of a cat.

  • People should be prepared to accept Mueller’s prosecutorial judgments, we argued.
  • They should accept the factual record described in the report.
  • They should not assume the report covers more than it, in fact, conveys—there being a lot of legal questions about President Trump’s behavior that lie outside the scope of the Mueller investigation.
  • Nonprosecution decisions do not necessarily resolve questions of morality, ethics or impeachability—in other words, the judgments of history, journalism and Congress are not determined by whether Mueller finds the president’s conduct indictably criminal.

Old : Trump is a Russian spy who will be convicted and removed from office for treason. Walls are closing in. Tick, Tick, Tick. Just a matter of time.

New : There's probably maybe the appearance of Trump somewhere in the report trying to obstruct which is kinda sorta proof of old .

Yup- the whole Mueller report as the smocking gun is silly, it's all the other criminal cases that are the smocking guns.

Just show the pee pee tape already.

Ummmm for the trump supporters this is bad.  For the people trying to say no collusion  and no obstruction  before the report was even released, this is bad.

Its trickling in.  It’s bad.

Mueller farmed our a lot of stuff. So as to trump’s criminal enterprise that’s probably a fight for another day.

Seems clear mueller wanted congress to take his investigation and ultimately decide.  Mueller isn’t a judge. Just an investigator.  It’s akin to the cops submitting their findings to the crown. Except the AG intercepted the findings.

Trump clearly expected benefit from Russian criminal activity. And did everything he could to interfere in the investigation.  No one can say otherwise now.

Holy moly. Just going through pieces of this report and it's damning, even with huge sections redacted.

The President of the United States of America directed his former campaign manager to ask Sessions to say the Russia investigation was "very unfair".

Trump did this. Holy ef!!

Jesus...

Why exactly hasn't Trump been impeached yet??

because congress was controlled by the republicans for two years of his presidency.

Was just going to make that point.  The number of times people around trump refuses to carry out his orders - they disregarded orders by the president - to save his ass.  Wow.

Clear obstruction.  And this is the redacted report!   He’s going to be impeached.  Little doubt of that now.

I hope not... I don't think that is fair- they elected him, they need to live with that decision and continue to do so or vote his ass out. No resets here.
