  1. Hey max I disagree completely with this. Not sure why you'd say that? Unless your being sarcastic - in which case maybe you should re-read my post. Or phone Khari Jones and ask him how his shoulder is doing. Tell me, what's the point of playing your #1 guy, who you are banking on for next year and beyond, with a banged up hand and shoulder, with an offensive line that can't block and zero running game. Go ahead, I'm listening, I'd love to hear you non-sarcastic comment on why playing Willy to finish out the string (who btw is probably the worst QB in the league right now - don't believe me look at his stats the last few games - don't take my word on it) and risk his career on a lost season. I agree it would be good to rest Willy, but unless he is not ready to go Doctor wise, or until we are officially eliminated from the playoffs, I still think you'll see him playing. I'm not sure why some people don't seem to understand that Willy is a first year starter and needs the reps. If he's healthy, you play him. It's that simple. If he struggles you take him out, if he's banged up you take him out but the guy is a first year starter and these are very valuable reps for him.
  2. No point in bringing up Collaros, he didn't want to come here. It's pointless to even bring his name up.
  3. Not sure if Edmonton was playing off a bit, i don't really think so, don't see Chris Jones doing that but Brohm actually looked half decent out there. Put up some yards, moved the ball, didn't go 2 and out that often, Looked good. If Brohm was struggling sure, put in Marve but Brohm wasn't struggling, for a guy with no many actual game reps, he looked pretty decent all things considered. Like it or not, Brohm is the backup qb, he's a vet of sorts too, most guys like him are the backups. Marve is the first year player learning the new game, do i hope Marve gets a few reps when we are officially eliminated next week, yup.. i hope he gets some time in the last game of the year, i hope lots of the PR guys do too, let's see what they got. But Brohm looked pretty decent last night and actually moved the ball. He wasn't the issue that's for sure.
  4. I think i'm in the fire MB camp more than the Fire ETCH camp, the offense has been absolutely terrible the last several weeks, Willy or whichever QB is in there is being sacked left right and center, being pressured on every play, the damn offense had like 1 yard yesterday to Edmontons 181 yards at one point in that game. I can't blame the D when the offense keeps going 2 and out over and over and over and over. These last 2 games though, it does seem like the D has been exposed a wee bit but i think the main reason for that is because the Offense can't move the ball, MB's play calling has become predictable, we see it every game, Yesterday again, cotton with a nice 5 6 yard run on first, 2nd down we throw it 25 yards... we keep doing that over and over and over and it doesn't work. I think the D has obviously gotten a bit exhausted really the last couple games, I will say this though, i honestly expected Edmonton to hit 50 yesterday easily, 37-0 at half and not all those points on the D but.. honestly said its gonna be 50-0 cuz our offense can't do a damn thing. When the D is on the field for the majority of the first half, yeah points are going to be scored. Part of the issue yesterday was our Offense kept going 2 and out and we were in poor field position due to some good kicks by edmonton and also due to some poor plays by woods to actually field some of those kicks, i can see why he was benched actually. You can't keep blowing things up every year and expecting different results, isn't that the definition of insanity? doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results? how many times are we going to have to fire coordinators or coaches or gm's or bring in new players, keep doing it and if they struggle the first year eventhough the only 2 games they really have struggled big time is the last 2 games, keep firing guys? expecting different results? Honestly,I'm surprised at some of these comments, you'd think most of the folks on here would understand that it would take more than 1 even 2 seasons to actually be where we need to be, we have been competitive in every game this year outside of 2 really, 3 if you want to include BC but we were in that game up until the 4th, the offense couldn't move the ball again. Can't keep firing guys and bringing other guys in, when does that cycle stop? isn't it the same one we have been on the last 10 years or so? hire a guy, fire him, new guy struggles, fire him, and people wonder why we have a hard time attracting people to come play here? With that being said tho, I'd fire MB because there are a few guys out there who probably would bring a different look, Dyce is one of the guys i'd go after, Jackson is probably another, Millonovich is definitely another if he doesn't want to deal with Toronto again, he's actually #1 on the list but i think its unlikely he would take an OC role when he could probably get a head coaches job. DC? who is out there? not much really, not many at least that i can think of, maybe if benevides is fired in BC, he'd be a guy i'd look at to replace ETCH, that BC d has been good for a long time, Campbell or Nelson in Ottawa too, Campbell has been a pretty good DC in the league, was with calgary and ottawa has a pretty good group too, Is that Nelson or is it Campbell? Gut tells me it's campbell due to the past success he's had with Calgarys D.
  5. Maybe it's just me but the CFL refs certainly seem to love the camera time. In other sports, you don't see nearly as many calls as you do in a CFL game. I'm under the impression that a good ref is seen but rarely heard. Let them play guys, stop hogging the spot light really. Nobody is at the game to see the REFS, that's for damn sure. I don't know one person who has ever paid 80 bucks or more to watch the refs out there and some games this year, it seems the refs time of possession is higher than both other teams time of possession, by that i mean, the ref gets more tv time than the other teams offenses do. It's not cool. It needs to stop, it's ruining the game. Some games have been pretty poor so far in the CFL and those poor games are partially because the refs call a penalty on every other play.. remember that Montreal Bomber game earlier in the year, took like 2.5 hours to get to half time, sure part of it was because both teams sucked but, a bigger part of it was because the refs were throwing flags left right and center. CFL refs seem to love the spotlight more than any other refs in any sport out there.
  6. Not a good game vs LA, again the first period just like In San Jose killed them, Hutch didn't look so good tonight, 3rd goal was very weak.... I liked the idea of starting Hutch on the back to back scenario but man PAV has been playing pretty damn well and played pretty damn well tonight too when he was put in the game. Hutch didn't get much help out there tho, that's for sure, kind of left out to dry a few times but he's gotta make that save on the third goal, that was the straw that broke our back for sure, we started taking it to LA and then boom weak call, good bye momentum, I dunno.. Our depth is a concern for sure, Thorburn should not be on the ice ever, he's just awful and brings nothing... Trouba has not looked good either, sophomore slump it seems for Jacob so far, Scheif looks good, just needs to bury some chances, Our depth is awful tho and when you lose buff to a game misconduct (pretty weak call there gotta admit, have rarely seen that called a penalty, so i'd be a little peaced off too ) and kane is hurt, our depth really is being pushed hard and it's not good enough. When Kane got hurt opening night, i was like damn, bet they wish they would have kept one of petan or ehlers up so they can get some NHL reps, cuz the depth we have now, it's truly not good enough. This Jets team has some talent, they still have some holes though, unforunately with kane hurt, instead of being a 3 line team, we are back too being a 2 line team. I do have to admit tho and i'm not blaming the refs or anything, jets have killed off all their penalties so far but... man, the refs have definitely missed a few calls the last couple games, blatant ones too, I guess though when you are a good team like SJ or LA, you are gonna get the benefit of the doubt at times but man regher on scheif and it's 2 minutes for tripping? dude stuck his knee out on Scheif, intent to injure, should have been gone, or carter with like 4 or 5 hooks to scheifs hands, i dunno man.
  7. You know it's funny, craig butler has had a pretty terrible year for Hamilton, he hasn't been very good at all. Possibly the worst year of his career, I see how it works with some people though, if you have heard of the guy, in other words if TSN or the media has told you that player is good, then people want him. Newman was an under the radar signing that helped improve our Canadian depth, something that we are lacking hardcore, him getting hurt was not good, it hurt us lots, more than some people care to realize or admit. Not sure some of you understand how piss poor our canadian depth was and still is, any time you can add a guy like Newman to your roster, you are improving your Canadian depth. Butler would have been nice sure, but you know what, Leggett is a pretty damn good safety.
  8. I'm not a huge fan of Bryant but 2 more wins if he was never brought in? That's crazy talk. The biggest negative factor to our offense this season has been our oline and the fact that our #1 receiver has been injured the last several weeks. Bryant isn't the reason or only reason we are "struggling" on offense thats for certain. GBills GF is probably right in all this. Bryant showed hustle, meaningless play? when you have a young team trying to learn that the game isn't over until the final whistle blows, i would say that wasn't a meaningless play at all.. Last few years we saw multiple players quit on every play the minute the other team had a 10 point lead... I wouldn't call hustling down field to save a touchdown a meaningless play at all, especially when you are trying to show guys that the game isn't over until its over.. can say what you will but there have been so many games over the years where teams have been down by 20 or more even in the final quarter or final few minutes of the game and came back and won, Toronto vs Hamilton was an example, Winnipeg vs BC a few years ago is another. If im the coach, I'll take a Romby Bryant hustle play like that over most anything else, i'm just curious tho in all of this, did anyone see where kelly was on this play? was he on the ground? did he fall down and not get back up? gave up on the play? It's an important piece that nobody has mentioned yet, where the hell was aaron kelly on that play?
  9. I would say that is false but only because that would require in game adjustments which we have yet to see. But this statement is total false too, because there have been in game adjustments and at times its been very very obvious actually. Do you watch the games dude? Seriously, no adjustments made in game? There are adjustments being made every game.
  10. That's a gruesome injury to Budaj, trail of blood from the Net to the Bench... It was insane. Hope he's ok. For real, looked like he lost a lot of blood. Innocent looking play, looks like he got cut by a guys skate blade on a very innocent looking play.
  11. BC hosts the cup this year, Couldn't really tell it by the way they spent their off season this past year or how they are playing right now. WIll the bombers make a run at guys just cuz they are hosting the cup? Maybe but i think it's more likely they take a run at a couple big name free agents because those free agents will make our team better overall. I still think they would take a run at a couple free agents even if we weren't hosting the grey cup. Say what you will but Nick Moore was a big free agent signing, Graig Newman was a pretty big one too, yes he's been hurt but prior to that he was a very very good player for the Riders, could and probably would have started for us this season and i am fully expecting him to start for us next year (linebacker, shermans spot) 2 "big" signings, didn't host the cup... What huge free agent signings did BC make this off season? None really, they traded banks for poblah tho, they lost moore to free agency, they lost a few other guys to some other teams too, they didn't really sign any free agents at all really, they had a horrible off-season. Riders seem to be the only team that spends spends spends spends, but they have done that for a few years now, not just grey cup host years.
  12. Romby i think can be productive on crossing routes, he's had several big gainers this season on the crossing route. I wonder if Bryant has been used right? to the best of his abilities, putting him in a position to succeed instead of fail? Would like to see more crossing routes to Romby, where he can use his speed to gain some YAC yards.. With Moore back, it might be possible, you know he's gonna get double teamed a bit, leaving Denmark and Romby open more so than not one would think or hope. Hope Marcel actually uses the guys we are rostering this week to the best of their abilities, going deep to bryant might not be using romby to the best of his abilities, Hitting him on a 5-10 yard crossing route that he can turn into 15-20 or more due to his speed, he is fast, might make more sense. Perhaps with Moore back, we will see a bit of a different offensive approach to the game. Howard doesn't concern me too much, I mean Jones has been turnstiled the last few weeks like crazy, Howard playing Guard is not as bad as howard playing tackle, Tyler has played well so far on the OLINE so maybe Tyler,Howard can lock up that side of the line and give willy some time. Nobody else has managed to be able to do that this year, Why not try howard, might make for a better guard than tackle. Would seriously consider sitting January tho, Give Anderson a shot.. He can't be worse than January has been, still seems to get a free pass tho when it comes to the oline, Howard has played a few games, he takes heat, January has played them all and hasn't looked good in any of them really.. more bad than good thats for sure and he's a vet. Howard is really a rookie still to the CFL. Why don't bomber fans like calling out Glenn January?
  13. Honestly, not sure why the dislike of howard, he hasn't played the last few weeks and our oline still sucked. It's pretty clear that it's not just one guy, It's also possible howard is actually better than the guy who has been playing ,was it jarvis jones? cuz he's been owned several times the last few weeks. Just like everyone else on the OLINE tho really. As for bryant and kelly, well crap is still crap regardless of what number is on it's back so really not that big of a deal IMO. Kelly has the size and talent that he should be a guy who shows up week to week, he doesn't tho, he goes missing for long periods of time, he has all the tools except he seems to lack the most important one and that's whats between the ears, the guy has given up on plays a few times too. Bryant? meh, maybe he's a better blocker than kelly, maybe the reason he is playing this week and kelly isn't is because last week bryant made one hell of an effort play to tackle a guy on an interception, where was kelly? probably 40 yards back. Hard to say. Kelly? Bryant? same player really, might get a little more hustle tho with Romby at this point.
  14. Great start. 6-2 wooping really. Could have been 8. Scheif had a nice chance early and there was another, buff off the post maybe or crossbar, regardless tho.. The first period was a thing of beauty. Absolute domination of the first period by the JETS. Kind of "coasted" after getting the big lead but.. Played a solid 60 minutes. Pav was solid in net, stood tall when he had too. Great game by Wheeler and Little. Great D game played by Bogo and Toby. Powerplay looks deadly, had chances, Need to bury them. This game really could have been alot worse score wise for the Yotes than it was... Hopefully Kanes ok, Not brace or anything apparently, limping a bit so hopefully he's ok. Great start. Tough road trip to start things off, 3 games in 4 days. Off to San Jose next.
  15. Kromah ain't no Barrin simpson or Joe Lobendahn when healthy but... he also ain't Kuale so right now he's got that going for him. Hopefully Kromah makes an impression and takes the Job. If not, that's a spot we will definitely have to upgrade in the off season. Wonder if a slimmed down Willy Mosely could be a guy that gets a look in the Middle.
  16. Cotton to start eh. Good luck to the guy, probably will find out it makes no difference, but we shall see and i hope he does well. He's getting his chance.
  17. It's gonna take a while to have what 21 quality Nationals on the roster, For sure.. But i agree with the others who say adding Mulumba, having a healthy Newman back and maybe just maybe having Bilukidi plus another top pick in the draft, the only real positive to missing playoffs is its likely we get the 2nd or 3rd probably draft pick. Should get a guy ready to contribute, Demski sure would look nice in blue n gold, so would another oline prospect. Quite a few of those available it appears. So by just adding a few guys that we already have "under out control" CFL contract wise, our Canadian depth gets significantly stronger. The draft should help out too. Could possibly add 5 "impactful" Nationals to the roster next year, Eliminate the 5 worst.. Huge difference. Free agency, not sure who is availabe but Holmes and even Jabar Westerman (i do believe he is a free agent possibly with nfl aspirations but not good enough soo... ) would be 2 guys we should go hard after if possible, Helps us out quite a bit. Builds our Dline depth, essential it seems in the CFL for most teams. Ratio Flexibility too. Newman was very good, could see him playing Teague Shermans spot .. Newman starting means sherman is depth, not a bad depth player really. National talent ain't looking half bad really.
  18. the trade for Gibson and signing of Moseley and Booker is due to Vega and Frazer being injured. Wilson and and Lawrence is probably just for a look-see and guys may get an invite next years TC if show some promise. although we are not really that good on our import rec positions except for Denamrk. Moore is in and out off the lineup. Kelly's play is on and off. Bryant is washed up. So we need find and upgrade there. Anderson, Tyler and Daniels is for the musical chair on our OL. I wouldnt be surprised if in one this game January will sit in favor of Jones, Anderson or Daniels. I actually got a feeling that January is on the trading block. Yeah, yeah he's our best OL as someone would say it but I dont agree with it. To me. the best OL we have currently is Greaves and Morley (yes Morley). I agree we need to see some RBs but still the question is will these current coaching staff will give this new guys their chance on the field? Aren't they all though? Like every football player on every team on every planet?? I thought Mike said, and hey man IT'S MIKE, but thought he said the bombers were high on one of those receivers. Sure, it's for a look see but.. At one time, all the guys were in for a "look see". Unless the guy has some CFL experience, you generally don't bring him straight on to roster the first week he's here. Putting a guy in that early with no knowledge of the CFL... it's crazy, it ruins them. Give them a few weeks to pick up on the quirks of the CFL, or what makes the CFL the CFL. As much as maybe we all think that a guy like Bryant shouldn't be playing, he's got some experience and i suppose brings a bit of a veteran presence to the team which lacks veterans for sure or the veterans we have are mediocre. Kuale,Bryant,January really, Morley i guess would be too. He's had a good season tho for the most part. Couple bad games but not nearly as many as others around him, YOu just need to give the guys coming up here a chance to learn the nuances of the game, it's not just 3 downs that's different from the NFL or NCAA, it's others, 20 second play clock, for receivers, the waggling. These guys will be given there chance to play i'm sure, especially the ones they are high on, or who make an impression or if injuries happen and when they do, hopefully some of them show that they belong or have potential to belong.
  19. I feel that Nelson and The Price Is Right post summed it up pretty nicely.
  20. And Chad Kackert has retired from the CFL.. Sucks but i thought i saw that the injury wasn't too serious so i suppose the saga/thread continues for now.
  21. Yeah, Our top 9 is looking solid. Mix and match Buff and Frolik really but Ladd,Little,Frolik Kane,Scheif,Wheeler Lowry,Perreault,Buff Pretty solid group. Solid as anybodys really. K,S,W is probably going to be a legit top line group and probably would be on quite a few teams. Hopefully everyone can stay healthy.
  22. Regarding Mulumba, does he project to be a defensive end up here or tackle or is he more suited to be a linebacker?
  23. I dunno about that one to be honest, the east was really ripped apart in the early parts of the season with injuries, I mean hamilton lost collaros for several weeks, several other important pieces have been and are out now too for them (gable being one), Toronto has been crippled with injuries, Owens, Durie, Coombs. Now those 2 teams are slowly getting healthier and are starting to play much better. Hamilton and Toronto are very good teams when healthy.
  24. Well you can't change the entire oline in one off season unless some miracles happens like what happened with sask.. but one or 2 national oline (one via free agency, although looking at that list i'm not sure that guy exists, maybe holmes from toronto) and one via the draft. Be nice to snag Demski in the draft if we can. MLB is an obvious one too, Wild is a good WIL linebacker but he's too small to be an everyday MLB... Improve the canadian depth (free agency works here) and the draft ofcourse. Backup QB? meh i dunno about that one, Willy is our guy and if he can't do it no one can. Every team seems to have a dominant pass rushing defensive end, we don't have that guy so that would be an area to upgrade. Alex Hall maybe? Hickman since he only signed a 1 year deal with the ticats could be another. One import receiver would be nice, maybe 2 but one for sure. Chris Matthews would look good next season i think. Wouldn't mind having a big time defensive tackle, we seem to be lacking that, i like turner and i like anderson but i think it would be nice if we could move one of them to the defensive end position. If coordinators are available in the off-season, probably a big if, but if there are guys available who can replace MB and Etch, then you'd be crazy not to atleast think about doing it. STC probably needs to be upgraded too. Maybe going after a guy like Jabar Westerman, who is going to be a free agent this off-season, would be a nice depth move. Getting some help from the NFL so guys like Mulumba and Bilukidi can come north would definitely help.
  25. If i'm bowman, i wouldn't want Steeves endorsement.
