  1. Although I agree with most of what Doug said, it's not easy for fans of a team that hasn't won the Cup in 24 years to not express concern. Anytime there is a slide, like what is occurring now, it's easy to see why the locals get a bit antsy. Sure we've made progress, but outdoing that clown show from last year, wasn't that hard to accomplish. We're still a long way from the 'promised land', as Brown likes to put it, and the feeling of futility of no Cup appearance is always there, especially IF we don't at least make a playoff spot. Should we have expected that? I think the possibility of that was a definite or close to it early on in the season, and to see it evaporate has a lot of fans wondering about the regression. The fact is we can still make post season play if we get out of this funk and get a few injured guys back. I don't agree with already looking at next year, like Doug infers, not when there's still hope in 2014. I guess I've always been a guy with the 'glass is half full' type, and I wish a few more of the media guys in this city had the same bent. Meanwhile on to Ottawa and start turning this thing around.

  2. Logan is the go to guy with Harris gone and Logan hasn't been all that impressive this year. The leos have taken a hit and just might be catchable if we can get our act together. Lots of rumblings on the lions site, that it might be tough to finish the year successfully, with a chunk of their offence gone. Tough break for Harris. Really like the kid and hope he recovers to continue his career. I'm hoping one year he'll end up wearing  bluengold. Dare to dream.

  3. Let's see, the guy just had an operation and he's going to return to form, to deliver the goods. Sounds like a lot of bunk. Even if he could start throwing again his arm strength will have been diminished. If they thought Sunseri was bad, bring Durant back early and watch him skip a few IF he could do that. Also Taman is so confident in having his no 1 guy back, that he's trying to play let's make a deal. What a bunch of nonsense brought to you by the melon wearing spin guys. lol

  4. A lot of the younger guys on here wouldn't have got to see Kenny Ploen play. Watching old time tapes doesn't do him justice. He was the consummate quarterback. Intelligent, wily, and talented. Leo Lewis and Kenny were a dynamic and dangerous pair any time on the field. The Cups attest to that fact. Ploen was the best qb. this club has ever seen and it's too bad that everyone judging this couldn't have seen him play. Was a real treat and the Bombers were a force in the CFL when he was the guy behind centre. Kenny hands down.

  5. Football can be a cruel game sometimes. It would be a miracle if he ever came back and why would he bother to just have a repeat situation. Bad news for the CFL. Cue up Glenn for the next one against us. As I recall he was scrapping himself up off the field in their last game at home. Good luck Wally, not looking good on the left coast.

  6. For the naysayers, the argos we're sitting there with a bye week. We were coming into T.O. with a five day turn around. Certainly they have a few injuries but we're not exactly 100 percent either. Way too early to jump off the band wagon. We certainly have some concerns but I expect O'Shea will have this team ready for the next one. Give it time people...give it time.

  7. The obvious problem on D is there is no or very little defence against the run. We're making some of these average running backs with a little size look like all stars. We need some beef in the middle. We're way too light and some of these backs are dragging our guys for 10 yds. We have to address this immediately or, now that is a commonly known weakness, we will be exploited every game. I think we've unearthed a gem in Stoudermire. He did cough one up that went out of bounds but overall this kid is the returner we've been looking for. Great game for his initial start and I'm looking forward to him taking one to the house, especially in riderville.

  8. It's hard to say who'll be the first to get the pink slip. It's no secret that Braley is looking to divest himself of a CFL team or teams, I don't think he'd be front and centre on a firing of Benevides. I don't think Braley is that interested in the internal workings of the club anymore. He'll get his bucks even if he had a fencepost with hair behind the bench. Now if you're talking Buono, that whole scenario changes. You can bet Wally is ready to drop the axe, if there is a couple more bad losses. I say Benevides goes before Higgins, who could also be hanging on by the skin of his teeth right about now. We'll see.

  9. Louie Richardson. Mike Cornell. Teague Sherman. Matt Bucknor.

    41 tackles

    2 sacks

    3 forced fumbles

    2 tackles for losses

    3 pass knockdowns

That's what those 4 guys have brought to the table this season after careers that totaled 82 games dressed and 51 tackles as their only stats registered in a defensive setting. 4 guys who were all undrafted. I'm not about to proclaim any of them to be 2014 CFL All Stars, but these 4 guys are taking a considerable amount of defensive reps this season and while they're not lighting the league on fire, they're proving to be contributing members to one of the league's toughest defenses. Some may suggest this is just Gary Etcheverry being Gary Etcheverry, but I think it has a lot to do with Mike O'Shea and Kyle Walters. These are guys who want that lunch bucket mentality. I truly think O'Shea means it when he believes his roster consists of 44 starters on a weekly basis. Guys like Richardson and Cornell are getting opportunities that they would have never got before. Even players like Kyle Norris and Derek Jones are seeing reps in our defense. Jake Thomas has been a contributing member. And the funny thing about it? It's working.

Is this going to give pause to the line of thinking that Canadians are not viable solutions in certain areas of the lineup? If this keeps up, is the league going to use the Winnipeg franchise as a model to support the idea that maybe our (the league, not Winnipeg) Canadian talent is not as weak as some suggest? And maybe all these guys need are a chance to prove it? Will we see more undrafted players getting the opportunity to show what they've got for meaningful offensive or defensive reps?

Whatever it is, I love it. How can you not cheer for these guys.

Not too much more you could add to this Mike. Well done. It's about time our Canadian talent are getting the break they deserve. I'd like to see a little more emphasis on canuck qbs., but I guess that's a bit down the road. I'm sure we have another Russ Jackson somewhere in the land or there will be, we just have to give them an opportunity, like we've done for other positions. Time will tell.

  10. Cactus Jack and Matheson. Very synonymous with the teams past. Excellent in their field and two very different characters. I got a big laugh out of Cactus and his play by play. Sometimes he had the wrong teams on the field, but that was Jack. The guy was just a tremendous personality who enjoyed the game and wasn't shy in the early days to 'tip a few'. Miss him a lot and what they brought to the media in the Peg.

  11. And dbs. in the league have their eyes go wide when they seen Nic Lewis coming down the track (at least they used to). Wait till we get Fitz at full throttle in the future. They better clear the track. Luv this guy and the dimension he brings and what this team has missed for a very long time.
